You do have to wonder if they removed them for copyright reasons though. I mean PAL regions didn't even get most of them, only two IIRC.
Assuming the financial aspects of it can be worked out, Indycar is one of the biggest no brainers for any GT series, simply because it's a single model car with different liveries. Create one car, and you've got a whole field of cars or at least enough to run a series with them. Boost the car count dramatically too with comparitively little effort. Would be a boost for the North American audience and most of the rest of the world too.
Does the rest of the world care about IRL at all?
With the exception of one race in Canada and one in Brazil the whole schedule is in the United States.
Does the entire world care? No. Does the entire world care about any particular series? No. Does everything in GT5 need to appeal to everyone in the world? No.
It's one or two car models (providing 20+ liveries if PD chooses to fill out the field as they did with Nascar)out of 1200 cars that would appeal for sure to more than a million North American GT5'ers and I'm sure many others around the world, as it would be GT's only open wheel series.
Didn't need to take it so hard. I'm just saying IRL itself is more of a North American sport that I don't think holds worldwide appeal. Sure more cars is good...but it doesn't have the worldwide appeal F1 would have if they COULD use those.
I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool or a good idea. Relax

What gave you the impression I was taking it hard?

Seemed a bit exaggerated and sassy (sorry, can't think of a better word)
Anyway, like I said I'm fine with it being in game. I would prefer it to NASCAR myself by far.
I just think IRL in the rest of the world would be like picking up a FIFA box and seeing "Look America, we added all your MLS teams!" For the few that care...that's great it's in there. I just don't think it would be a real draw for the average user worldwide. I think if they added some nice liveries on a priemium FGT most wouldn't know or care that didn't follow the sport.
Edit: Going on with that I know quite a few people that were into racing (not F1 or IRL particularly) that didn't even realize they weren't the same thing. They used the words Indy Car and F1 interchangeably because they somehow couldn't tell the difference.
Bit of a pet peeve of mine.
Speaking as a Canadian, what's a FIFA box?...lol..![]()

Football or Soccer depending on what you call it.
Indycar does mostly appeal to those in North America (as DTM for Germany, V8 Supercars for Australia, SuperGT for Japan, etc.). It is, I believe, fairly popular in Australia (from the Surfer's Paradise days). There is also a fanbase in Japan through Honda, Sato, and races at Motegi. The drivers in the series are also from a variety of places. Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Brazil, England, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Columbia, Spain, and France. Some are fairly well known drivers (Justin Wilson, Takuma Sato, and Sebastien Bourdais all raced in F1). All of that said, the real appeal for adding the IICS would be making the Indy 500 playable in the game. With LeMans and Monaco, it is one of the three biggest races in the world, arguably the biggest. It would be quite cool to have that race in GT6.
It isn't fairly popular anywhere.
That is correct - the Polyphony 001 and Polyphony 002.
Fair point. I meant by Indycar standards, in other words, those are the countries where some people have at least a passing interest in it.
I follow the series, and the racing is great. The skill level is quite high as well. The series shot itself in the foot in the mid-90s, taking what was at the time a very popular sport and killing it by splitting into two rival factions. Now, when things are back together and the product is good (try to find this year's Brazil race on Youtube), no one cares.

That was a joke eh..They play football in France?
I thought it was an American sport...who knew:idea:
Or Long Beach, or last sunday's Indy 500 which broke records for average race speed and passes for the lead. They're not all extremely exciting races, but they've proven they can definitely be good.Fair point. Soccer = association football, not American football. 💡
