IndyCar 2012 In Gran Turismo 6

My Trip to The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach

I have been going to one of the most famous street circuit races in American history for about 4 to 6 years. Anyways well I have to say that this years race IndyCar race in 2012 was ecstatic and truly a gift to watch. With Simon Pagenaud chasing Will Power throw the final laps.

Anyways back to the main forum subject

It would be my dream to have the 2012 IZOD IndyCar season implemented into GT6, it can open up opportunities to many different exciting leagues and give excitement to fans such as me.

GT can't have Mountain Dew so you want it to settle for Mountain Lightning.

Why specifically 2012? That will be old history by the time GT6 gets here.

Thread title is somewhat misleading.

Heh, funny how so much of that first article didn't happen.

All vehicles have modeled cockpits (170 premium cars will have interior damage modeling)
All vehicles will have both physical and mechanical damage modeling
Indy (IRL) cars and tracks
High-definition video uploads directly to YouTube
Full weather and night racing on all tracks

If everything in that first article happens in GT6 it will be epic!

I'm assuming you're referring to Formula 1. Personal opinion sir. IMO IndyCar is far better than F1. But I also grew up around IndyCar :sly:

I bought 2 of those Plastation issues when I was on vacation in Florida.. purely for the GT5 posters ... this was 1 year before GT5 was released, I wonder if IndyCar is still in consideration/development at PD... there desperately needs to be open wheel racing, F1 seems too far out of reach in terms of licensing.

I remember that article... saw it before joining GTP...

GT5 = The land of the broken promises... :nervous:

D:censored: it, Kaz!!! That's why I don't believe in you & PD anymore...

It would be cool if the IICS was in GT6 indeed. It is my suspicion (read: pure speculation) that Indycar was planned for GT5, but Indycar backed out due to the timing of the game's release. They didn't want the old "crapwagons" immortalized in a video game right when the new car was being unveiled. With the series having some good momentum and needing (desperately) to increase its fan base, GT6 would make a lot of sense. The DW12 is very racey, and the first 4 races this season have been spectacular. This years Brazil may be the best Street Course race I've yet seen. Indycar is working on a game with Simraceway (I believe), but I would love to see the cars in GT6. There is already a relationship with IMS, so it isn't a huge leap to think that it could happen.

Better than nascar.

I just saw that Indycar announced the DW12 and some Indy 500 pace cars as pre order DLC for Grid 2. I hope that doesn't preclude Indycar from inclusion in other video games. Grid 2 looks to be following in the first installment's arcade style. That's not inherently a negative, but it would be nice to have a more sim oriented console game incorporate Indycar.

Assuming the financial aspects of it can be worked out, Indycar is one of the biggest no brainers for any GT series, simply because it's a single model car with different liveries. Create one car, and you've got a whole field of cars or at least enough to run a series with them. Boost the car count dramatically too with comparitively little effort. Would be a boost for the North American audience and most of the rest of the world too.

On top of that, I would assume most of the performance parameters are well documented and extensive measuring and testing would be unnecessary. It's a win/win/win all around!!

I ditto what JohnnyP said. Twide. ;) Must have been one of those net hiccups.

As a not-fan of NASCAR, I still want it and as many racing leagues represented in Gran Turismo as possible. Indy Car racing would fit in perfectly with the new game, and as Johnny says, only one car to model, freeing up worktime to devote to more tracks and courses to include in GT6.

Yamauchi never said it though, it was a mistake by the magazine.

I remember buying that issue of Playstation magazine. I especially love how it says there will be 1,000 cars but no word of the standards. Just a reminder to not get excited or believe anything PD says until proof is shown that it's true. I will approach GT6 with this attitude.

Two cars actually, just with the same bodywork.

Was it? Not that it makes much difference at this stage but that's the first I've heard of that.

They actually apologized for it in a following issue, if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Only talking about IRL stuff.

I would like to see open wheel in GT6 too, cross your fingers.

Mostly GT6 should put more IndyCar tracks in because some of those tracks are ran in NASCAR too. That will make fans of multiple series happy.

Any spec series is welcome, as long as the cars are equal. I understand that some cars are faster than others but in the game it's better if the cars are equal.

Even tuned to the same PP, some GT500 cars in GT5 are faster. It's frustrating when you want variety and parity both at the same time.

Yeah, as G.T. Ace says, the IRL stuff was never directly from Kaz. It was a mistake on OPM's part, probably from a mistranslation, where they took the inclusion of Indy Motor Speedway in GT5 to mean Indy cars and all the trappings thereof. They published a retraction the month or so after they posted the story apologizing.

The current IndyCars have grown on me more than the crapwagons ever did. Wouldn't mind seeing the whole grid in GT6, there definitely wouldn't be the minor differences that PD felt they had to model with the NASCAR models also.

I would love more fantasy cars in GT6, yeah sure its not like the real thing, my it cancells out all the contracts bullcrap..

maybe these back from GT3 as premiums, and a PD Indycar.

^^^God, I miss those. It would be a very nice surprise to see them in GT6, even as standards. Would defenitely add a lot more variety to the F1 portion of the game.
