The key questions are:
1. How much do you want to spend
2. What size do you want.
3. Do you want performance or looks
For your Neon/Expresso I wouldnt go over 17"

This tool is super cool. I am guilty of playing with it (on cars I don't, nor ever will, own).

It's the tire rack "Upgrade garage" wheel selector, this link is for your car:

I like the carbon grey "Sport Edition Fox 2 Sport" which is $119 for 16 inches or $144 for 17.
skip0110,
That idea is perfect. I forgot about that wheel program. Great info for Layzie to study and get an idea of what wheels he wants. 👍
Layzie,
Keep in mind that the larger the wheel, the more expensive it will be and the tire will be more expensive too. Believe me I have 18" so I know how expensive they are.

1. Money really isn't an issue
2. Was thinking 17"-18"
3. As of now, looks, but I don't want anything bling.

If money really isnt an issue I would start with that link he sent you. Find something that you think you would be happy with. Then you can determine later if you want 17 or 18 if they have the style in your size. If you have a local tire store they usually have some brochures that you can take home and drew over for a while. The sky is pretty much the limit at this point since you havent lowered your car at all.
Another hint is to look at other cars similar to yours and find a look you like the best.
Oh if looks arent an option you might want to consider aluminum wheels to lighten the car too. Plus they are easy to clean and look great. Thats why I asked about the price because sometimes aluminum wheels can get expensive. Go to the Budnik website for an example.
Oh yeah the 2 tone black wheels are really nice too.

Whats so funny, is that my dad sees ppl with black wheels on thier cars and every time he asks if they play GT3, they say yes

Anything bigger than 17" will look rediculous on that car, and even 17" is pushing it. I think 16" are what you want.

If those are 16" on there right now then he could easily go with 17" and it would look great. IF those are 16" on there right now. They could be 15" but im not sure.

Don't forget to recalibrate your speedometer if you change wheel diameter. Or you could fit lower profile tyres to maintain the rolling radius - but then the car's attitude to uneven surfaces will drastically change. Oh, and make sure the wheels you go for are of equal or lower mass than your current ones - not much point in increasing your unsprung mass.

He might be able to pick up a Daewoo for the cost of each rim. 4 Daewoos > Neon w/ rims? I still dont think so.

Leganza!!!

Actually I'd get a Lanos 3-door and then just drive the hell out of it. Don't register it, don't insure it, just drive like a mad man until it's totaled. Then do it again.

Dude, it's a Neon. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were 14"s. Look at the size of them compared to the car.

Shame, it would look so good with 22" gold 'spokes'
:sly:

Or perhaps go for that 'council estate chic' look - jack it up, remove the wheels, then just prop it up on bricks 👍

Yeah dont take offense to that but he did make a good point. :scared: Mabey he just meant money isnt an issue when it comes to the wheels. :scared:

You want brozne wheels. All the cool kids are doing it.

Personally, I think bronze looks best with white. Black cars are best matched with gold wheels. (Not gold gold, i.e. gold chrome, but the kind of gold commonly seen on Rays wheels)

Actually bigger is not better. I'd stick with 15's. Reason? #1. bigger wheels means more "rotational inertia". #2. More weight, meaning more power is used to turn them. #3. more expensive. #4. better handling. #5. lower centre of gravity. and uh yeah...jeff told me some but i forget the rest. ask ND4SPD. and step 1 to your conversion is ditching the Neon. Get a tercel.
