I want to punch the rally copilot in the throat!

This guy is such a big idiot... I just got around to doing some more rally specials, and if it's not bad enough the game seems to think blind sharp turn at the top of crests is a good idea (despite the fact my copilot doesn't know the term "over crest") the copilot is a moron and calls out so many turns in such a useless way...

If a few turns are back to back I can never be sure if he is talking about the one I am coming up on or the next one... sometimes he just lets 2 or 3 turns in a row go by as if they are one despite not even saying "long" and I love how he doesn't tell me it's a 3 right until I am cresting into it after a long flat out straight...

If this was a real rally copilot the driver would shove him out the (broken off due to horrible copilot notes) door and just take his chances :grumpy:

I just use the map. The driver is useless. If he's telling you a turn is coming up and you more than half way into it at times... *facepalm*

I'm surprised he isn't standing on the bonnet of the car so you can see past him but then I guess we wouldn't be able to see the map.

How is it that sega rally, a game from the last century that had only 4 tracks and 3 cars, had a better co-pilot/navigator than GT5?

Thankfully I've finished all the rally events and with the right car they're pretty easy but one of the first things I noticed was in some corners your co-pilot doesn't tell you what the corner was until you're already half way round it.

I think the problem is that the rally courses are made up by the course creator. Kinda hard to program a voice track to a track that doesnt exist until you run it.

Yes, but the CPU is well aware of the turns so just program the codriver more accurately, so he speaks early and often enough.

Exactly... if the computer can generate a driving line and the AI can drive the course I can't imagine why the queues for the copilot can't be a little better timed and thorough...

First time I did that Challenge on one Track i went in hard on a Corner , was mid corner when the ever so helpfull Co-Driver mentions its a bit tight D'oh :grumpy:

Eventually Golded every single rally stage , Car Set Up was the Main Help and Ignoring the Idiot next to me was the next best idea apart from looking at the Map

I've always found the colin McCrae games to have the best co-drivers.

He's useless in this game, If there is 2 concurrent "3 lefts" he doesent care to mention the second one!

lol it is a bit useless like, LEFT 3, im turning right and right again, gone past that corner a minute ago..

I agree that the Co-Drivers in the Colin McRae games where very helpful and are far better than the one in GT5. The pace notes that the Co-Driver is reading in GT5 seem basic and don't give enough detail for me to pay attention to them. I just use the map instead.

He's alright for me. Definitely nowhere near the standard of the Dirt games, but then that didn't have randomly generated tracks. He'll mess up if the corners are too quick in succession but most of the time manages to get a number out before I start turning. I use him in combination with the map... actually I tend to look at the map and predict which number he'll give me, then when he confirms it I know just how fast I should be going.

Agreed. Hand chop to larynx, Indiana Jones head-slam into dash followed by throw out of windsheild and drive over top of poorly constructed AI. If only...

I've never even been able to hear him. Just a very very faint voice from the centre speaker at the start and once I'm running I can't hear him over the engine noise. Tried a few sound settings with no joy and tried racing with bumper / cockpit with no discernable difference. :yuck:

I'm probably doing something silly with one of the volume levels or a setting somewhere, but at this stage I've learned to rally from the map quite well!

The directions are so vague I can never tell what corner he's talking about anyway, unless the course has significant straightaways between every turn. Like others here, I just learned to use the map.

PD obviously intended to encourage you to use it, what with it relocating to the front and center of the screen...which is really "handy" when a tight collection of hairpins comes up on a night course. Like someone dangling a glowing white shoelace in your face as you're trying to drive.

Same here. Although I don't even think I payed attention to even hear the co-pilot. I am so concentrating on just trying to run the coarse as it is. I soooo suck at rally. In fact I hate it just as much as having to use b-spec to finish the game and/or get trophies.
