Ikonboard version 3 will be making its long-awaited debut here pretty soon.  One question:  Will you be upgrading to version three or will you stick with this newly modified version on v2.18?  Just curious.

Nope, I'm definitely sticking with this version.

I really don't see any need to upgrade right now anyway, and I'm sure there will be lots of nasty bugs in iB3 when it first comes out.

That's what I was thinkin too.  Probably not as many as v2 when it came out...but there will be some.  Plus it seems if you want any additions that v3 has you can get them in v2 as well.

Yeah, there's so many great hacks out there and people know the iB2 code so well, you can do almost anything you want.  (Hey, just look at this place :D)

Is that why you've switched to VB? I mean, the hacks and everything for ikonboard?

No, I was essentially (happily) forced to switch to vB because it was much more scalable and by making use of a MySQL database, it could handle the load of the site. Ikonboard's flat-file system was breaking at the seams after about 30,000 posts. I am now extremely glad that I made the switch to vB, it was possibly the best decision I made for the site. 👍

Ahhh. I didn't really know Ikonboard has troubles with many posts. Perhaps they've made it better now, but who knows. If it's not broken, don't fix it;)

Nice job, Jordan, on making GTP as great as it is today

If i had the money, i would dump my phpBB forums in exchange for vBulletin. It is just so much better than every other forum in every way. :)

lol, VBulletin has the best administrative features, best upgrades, support, etc. If I had that $1xx.xx to own the license then I'd swith over from InvisionCrap in an instant...

phpBB is probably the next best thing to vBulletin most of the time...
