Idea : Car of the week!

yeah but you wrote that the car should be on ocd or the reg dealership so that means that these are cars that everyone can have at that week!

Sounds like a great idea to me, I hope it actually turns into something official, instead of just an idea in this thread 👍

I would have to say that I don't think a DLC car is a great choice (though I do have all DLC, so it wouldn't be a problem for me). But IMO, those people who have paid for DLC have probably already used those cars quite a bit, otherwise why would you pay real money for them? (I can see the Nissan Leaf being an exception here, but who wants that for the COTW?)

Sorry Andy54321, but I definitely don't think the R35 TC is a good choice, as that seems to be one of the most often used of the DLC cars so far.

I was wondering about this as an idea. How about we members of the GTplanet.net community have a nominated car of the week?

We could have tuning tips, specific online races, paint and wheel discussions and general chatter about something different every week. I think it would be a particularly good way of getting people driving some of the less popular or under-appreciated stuff, broadening our knowledge and just having a laugh.

We could set time trial challenges at certain circuits to see how far people can push its abilities or see how highly you can make them score when drifting.

What do you all think? Any other suggestions?

Great!👍

@huskeR32

I wasn't saying that the GT-R R35 TC should be the car of the week and I don't think it's not a great choice. I was simply saying that it's my car of the week.

I enjoy that car a lot at the moment as I race it online along with 6 or 7 other people in the same car with the same tune which makes a even race and very fun.

Regarding the dlc cars not been added to the car of the week thread, I did suggest to do it in 3 sections on my other post. At least that way people like you and everyone else that has dlc can still choose one as the best.
I haven't even tried any other of the TC dlc cars other than the GT-R R35.

Well I can't make this official, but if the thread gets loads of replies someone in charge will notice. If I post a thread once per week with the car and it is popular, I will do it until someone more official than me will take it over.

I think we should give it a try anyway and see how it goes. I think I might announce the first one tomorrow, ready for the weekend but I have not decided yet what it will be.

Sorry to disappoint though, it will not be a Skyline or DLC!

Oh, and which is the best forum for this? I only really ever read the Q&A one!

I agree with andy54321

We should have different sections for standard, premium and dlc! Otherwise it is just a generalisation of premium! You couldn't even include any standards as you wouldn't know who did or didn't have them! And people are still buying dlc cars today so they able to get them.

It should be:

Premium car of the week.

Standard car of the week.

And

Dlc car of the week.

Or include them all!!!

You could get the total number of cars in GT5, ~1,700 isn't it?, and then use a RNG to get a number and do that car. Hence totally random and you could find some gems.

Yeah that would be fairer, almost like a car lottery! 👍

Exactly, and because it's completely random we could have a 100hp hatchback followed by a truck followed by a salon. The possibilities are endless.

I like your thinking!!!

If you agree please re-quote this genius!!!

But here is the problem with the random element - there are so many MX5s RX7s, Skylines, S2000s etc that they would be completely disproportionately represented. Plus, I feel it is important to give people cars that are not often driven or concentrated on. If it is random, it could quite easily end up with the most used and discussed cars for week 1, 2, 3 and on.

Not wanting to be a dictator, but I think somebodies pick would be better than the random factor.

Discuss... ;)

This. You could make the COTW club something that requires membership, and to get in the club, you have to provide 2 or 3 cars you'd like to see used. Throw those cars in a bag, and use RNG from there... Of course, people could still suggest the same cars as others, which shoots down my plan...

One of the best ideas I've heard in a while -- Though reading this whole thread methinks this will get bogged down quickly unless we are all moving in the same direction. With all due respect to the OP, I'm going to ask a poll to see what people think. Look for "car of the week" poll. Thanks Turismo.M.G! 👍

Any ideas when this COTW will start? I'm guessing we need a bit more awareness throughout the forums to really kick this thing off. :)

I have a suggestion...

Assuming you would be in control of generating the random numbers, you could keep track of which generation of the car was chosen. Say for example the number landed on a R34. We all know there's multiple versions of it so the testing would include all versions of the R34, Premium and Standard. Then once the week is over, cross them all off the list. If a R34 number is generated later on, you could just get a new number.

You might even be able to get away with combining generations for vehicles that don't have such a strong representation, like the Challengers, and do a comparison between the Standard (old) vs. Premium (old) vs. Premium (new).

Manufacturers that only have a few models could also be combined into one week if need be.

Maybe limit to tradeable cars so that if someone does not have it, they can get it.

Then I would start with the 370Z Academy car. (Tradeable, under rated, nice collector car.)
