Hello peeps,
I was just wondering how awesome it would be to gather GT enthusiast simracers together and race on original GT tracks in rFactor (because none have been converted on rFactor 2, and it's more likely people own the original rFactor, and it's more beginner-friendly).
So, after checking, the most accurate GT tracks for rFactor are Grand Valley (includes all layouts), Trial Mountain and Autumn Ring (includes Mini). I also checked for Mid-Field, Deep Forest and Special Stage route but all those aren't close enough...Mid-Field was modeled to be a 60s track, Deep Forest just looks deformed and Special Stage Route is the same track but with grass instead of being on streets. I also saw Red Rock Valley, which I'm dying to try, but unfortunately it's still in W.I.P status. So only these 3 are good enough in my opinion (High Speed Ring was dope too but I prefer the retro version, as this one was based on GT4's).
So how about it? If we got volunteers we could have a short champ on those 3 tracks, with fixed setups and no fuel consumption or tire wear, to have pure racing just like in GT. Only differences are that you are not allowed to ram
Plus wallriding is simply not proper. I was also thinking the Toyota GT-ONE would serve as the car everyone would be using. I couldn't think of any other car to be as iconic as that. However, the car might be too fast and too much for everyone to handle, so perhaps a Cup car of some sort would do the trick as well. (But I'd still prefer GT-ONE!)
I was also thinking a mandatory pit stop could be nice to allow some sort of a strategy despite the lack of tire wear/fuel consumption.
Please leave feedback on this idea...all the tracks mentioned are the only ones I could find.
P.S. We can also add Laguna Seca as the final round to have one more round and a race on a real track that was used in the early GT titles.
