I’m kind of at a loss as to an ideal sound setup for races. I’m currently playing without music as I prefer racing sound effects.

What specs would you recommend for engine, transmission, tires?

I don't like the transmission sound nearly as much as the engine sound. Hate that whining sound. I have the engine sound up all the way and the transmission down all the way. I Think it's a 4 or 5 point scale, no sure about the decibals. Tires I don't need to hear so much, but if their screaching I need to back off a bit. I think minus 1 for the tires. I also like to hear the other drivers so keep that in the middle. No music for me also. This is racing, not street cruising. Have fun and enjoy the game and the competition.

Yeah, it's a 5-point scale I believe.

So...

Engine = max.
Transmission = min.
Tires = -1
Opponents = 0

I'll have to try this out later. Thanks.

Yup engine up, opponoent up, transmission down, tires lowered (still need to hear it), and definitely music off.

I almost only play with headphones. I put transmission to +3 and Tire Squeel to +3. Especially the tire Sound is very important because we almost only get feedback visually and through Sound. It helps me massive to always hear how the grip level actually is.

Tranny as low as possible, needs to go even lower! Engine, opponents, up higher than tires. Music when I want to hear it, is Spotify (Daily Mixes or albums) played from my phone to PS4. PD’s music has become very very repetitive and blah. Especially when in Livery Editor.

I can’t fugire out how anyone can consider gear whine as an appealing sound. Makes my ears bleed.

Well, I have a hearing impairment after an accident, and frequencies in the range from 3khz up to 8khz I lost about 30% hearing capability. 💡

I have tinnitus. I have hearing loss in my right ear from years of using the phone on my right ear (48yrs old). I slipped on ice a few years ago, right ear hit the ground.

The sounds of the engines finally sound good, I want to enjoy that as much as possible. Hearing opponents position in a 7.1 home theater helps greatly.

Gear whine has never been any sort of shifting indicator in real cars with a manual tranny. The gears cannot be heard in passenger cars. Shift points are based on engine RPM.

Ah ok, so we‘re in the same Boat. Tinnitus too :crazy: . A friend of mine fired a handgun next to my left ear so yeah **** happens. I‘m actually still not quite happy with my Sound Settings when playing with headphones, but when I fire up my 5.1 Speakers it’s all fine and it sounds like hell on earth :D
