Hello,

I'm new here and I'm looking to get started with Sim racing.

I want a cockpit and I think with the help of people here they can get me started.

This is my cpu chair.

I don't want to buy another bucket seat chair. I wanted to make this one work.

Does anyone have a idea for me?

Guess I'm a noob at this.

I want to build something to attach to the chair to make a nice cockpit I just can't figure out how to do it. That's my everyday cpu chair.

I imagine that the shifting and jamming of the pedals would move the rig if it 2 parts.

What if you were to make a sort of stand for it so that you could lower the seat into the lowest position then stand it on the, er, stand, so that the castors (wheels, whatever) aren't touching the floor?

Edit: I hope those arm rests are removable though, otherwise you'll be banging your elbows on them a whole lot.

I think thats something you should think about. put the wheels of your chair inside to avoid a movement , mount the pedals , mount the wheel on your desk ,ready for racing

So how do you lock the chair's swivel? Cause if you push the gas pedal, your chair will turn right. If you use the clutch, the chair will turn left. Braking can go both ways depending on which leg you use, as the force is basically send through your leg to your left or right butt cheek.

Any office chair is horrible for racing. It's better to grab a chair that you use at the dinner table and put that in that pedal thingy of yours.

That's a good idea! I would have to build the mount for the wheel and the shifter. Than make something to keep the chair from bouncing back and forth.

I have a very unique computer desk. After work I'll show you my creation. I'm a hard core gamer and car enthusiasts. Surprised I never thought of doing this before.

Great point if I build something that lays flush with the back of the chair it could stop the movement.

oh I didn't thought about that :odd: makes sense , no one wants to spin in circles while driving :D

edit : checked the OP's seat picture again :odd: there's a brake disc + calipper mounted :D .
replace it with a working brake , problem solved  just kidding .
i'm interested how the op solves it 👍

Those "race seat" office chairs have the advantage that they're made to look the part but are really more comfortable than real car seats.

Get rid of the chair base and attach that seat onto the cockpit you will build. :)
