What do you think? After last night I think 'free run' should be changed to 'destruction derby'.

All I wanted was to do a few online trackday sessions, hot-swapping from car to car in my garage but it wasn't going to be that easy. Every track was full of idiots driving the wrong way or just doing donuts in the middle of the track. I also seemed to get kicked from sessions just for driving normally.

I think I'll just start my own rooms from one running a max of sports hard or comfort softs.

@mekon: tighten your room selection. Mosty rooms with sport soft max, damage, maybe penalties should dothe job. At least, you could open up a room by yourself. Then everybody plays according to your rules ;)

Only met 1 idiot so far online (Ive been lucky) He was been a rammer in a tank car so I kept him pinned against the barriers as much as I could with my Tank car lol he soon left

I only ever open my own room of free run. I don't like the penalties or damage but I'll put the HP limit lower to exclude most race cars and I'll kick people who screw around to much.

I think you should use caution when selecting some tracks. Top gear and SSR7 are popular tracks for the types you speak of.

To me it all comes down to the host. Either they allow people to do what they want and it makes for chaos, or they rule with an iron fist and boot anyone screwing around. You want the latter. You'll have to do some random rooms for a while, but if you get to know the good hosts, friend them, and then use the community section to find them online and join their lounges. Makes it much more enjoyable.

I'd say a 3:1 ration of normal to idiotic. Usually when my free run room is filled up, there's about 4 or 5 morons running around either ramming, driving backwards, or just lacking in respect towards other drivers. But, they're quickly kicked, because I don't tolerate that kind of bull.

I look for rooms with all aids off (except ABS), damage and penalties on, etc and there's rarely any idiots in there. I've had especially good luck when I play early and hop into some Japanese rooms. I can't talk to anyone but they're always clean drivers (so far) 👍

Rreally strange, i only play online and i find decent rooms all the time, when someone dissbehaving, they get kicked. Some people find good rooms, some dont find good rooms. What can we learn? Well, all people arent the same, and all rooms arent the same. Stop BS, free run is cool, i like cruising and stuff.

I haven't encounter any idiots in racing circuit (nurb. nord., Suzuka, etc.).
But i usually found them in Top Gear Test Track.

Sadly, it happens. I prefer to create a lobby, but here and there I'm just too lazy.

Had to deal some stupid host last night who said "tank cars or kick"...WTF? And as usual, had to deal with 4 or so dumbasses who can't drive during a one lap race. Just facepalm.

For the ratios: I'd say around 1/5 rooms have at least one idiot, and around 10/16 people who have to ram your car to win, or for their own (sexual?) pleasure.

What I REALLY hate is when I just drive my little Fiat 500 '68 and get rammed constantly. So, if I'm host, they get the boot and they sometimes message me afterwards. Quite funny actually, especially when they attempt to call you names, but then "bla bla left the server". I love driving the slower cars sometimes, but that doesn't mean my car is a soccer ball.

I didnt enjoy doin it but sometimes beating them at there own game hurts more then people calling them a "noob" lol

fully agree 👍

I've only done a couple online races (for this reason). Where is this "free run", i've never seen it. I did one race with nascars at daytona and I smoked the field and one guy waited for my to come around and caught up to me and did the P.I.T maneuver on me. So the next race we where lined up side by side I just gunned it and turned hard right and ran right into him (then he left).

Rammers annoy me its not bumper cars, but with people driving the wrong way round the track i dont see a problem, its called free run so you can do what ever you want to do!

Spot on. There seems to be some kind of generel concensus in free run servers that small and/or slow cars are everybody elses toy...
Maybe we should gang up some day and unleash a small fleet of painfully slow cars, just cruising through every free run server available.
"Revenge of the TeamGhandiMoto" :)

I don't find free run translate to destruction derby...
-But perhaps I'm missing the sarcasm here?

That would be hilarious

Does anyone know of any permanent rooms out there or good hosts that support good clean racing? Leagues maybe? I'm not a pro or anything, maybe a little above average, but I have avoided online play so far because of the "idiots" this thread is talking about. I'm not saying I am perfect as in I never bump another car, but whats up with the guys that use your car as a pinball bumper in corners???? I think they annoy me way more than the guys doing donuts, because they think they are legitimately winning the race by ramming you off the track.

0:1

I drive a Aston Martin V12 Vanquish online with the machine guns, mini rockets and can go underwater... Nobody ****S with ME :trouble: :D
