If Carlsberg did GT5 Race Leagues........ [Random Races League]

Races updated.

As requested by Soopa he has been taken off the table. You will also note from the table that Trebor is only 26 points behind SkengD. So, this season's title is still very much up for grabs.

As for last night, I think the races selected were better than the previous week's to be honest. Was disappointed with the mistakes I made at both Trial Mountain and Nurburgring as I could have had a race win there as well as the close finish in the rally. I felt really good in the Cappuccino. Also, at Trial Mountain I let you through to the lead SkengD as I made contact with you a couple of corners earlier. Shouldn't have done in hindsight! :D
 
OK lads I do have an announcement to make as well I’m afraid. After a lot of thought and consideration I have decided that this week coming will be the last week of the Random Races League.

There are a few reasons for bringing it to an end.

Firstly, it is difficult to come up with 4 races each week which are consistently different from the previous weeks. I feel I am running out of ideas and I don’t want the league to suffer because of it.

Secondly, I do not spend that much time on GT5 anymore. I do not have the enthusiasm anymore to be testing cars each week which has resulted in a few cars selected that have not been fun to drive (E.g Prius, Suzuki Swift).

There is also a factor that I have to get up for work early in the morning which does not do myself any favours the following day. I know the time can be changed but this may not suit everyone and if the time is much earlier I can not guarantee I will be at home.

I have been participating in this league since just after Xmas so although a few of you are new to it, this league has been running a long time now.

I would like to thank firstly Wolsta who was the original founder of the league. I was basically following on his style of races in order to keep the league going. He no longer participates but he has played a big part in this league.

Then the league would not exist without its league members. Going back to the other forum with Elmo, Bazza, Mark, Sven etc then Soopa was the first to join on here and if he didn’t, the league probably would have finished a few months back. SkengD then joined followed by dangermouse and then our newcomers in Trebor, Boyce and Neal have been the latest to join.

Thanks to everyone who took part and hopefully on Wednesday we will have another great night of racing..

Sorry to hear it's coming to an end Kingy, you did a great job coming up with interesting new cars for us to race, I understand running a league like this must be a lot of work though. I really enjoyed these events and was gutted when I had to drop out.

Totally understand your reasons, i to have to get up early on week days as well as having broken sleep with 2 kids. Would be good if someone else could carry on running the league but like you said its hard work coming up with fresh ideas for races every week. Thanks for your time and effort, hope to race with you again sometime.

I have enjoyed racing with everyone in this league and you have all been clean, honest drivers which is all I can ask.

I know the time has not been ideal with it being late on a weekday. So on Wednesday could you all make 10pm for the last week?

If anyone wants to carry this league on then please do. 👍 Maybe they will have more time than me and more fresh ideas..

So what can we do to save this league or is it really gonna come to an end ?

I have to seriously get into Soopa's league now

Well it can be taken over by someone to be saved. It can be quite time consuming coming up with the races..

Depends if someone takes over whether they wanted to stick to the same style or if they had fresh ideas to make it better. A new person running it may also be better at reviewing races and giving out penalties if need be etc and have it all more professional looking..
 
How about a simple option like a vote every week as to what car and track to choose for each 4 races
 
I dunno mate, there are probably ways of doing it which would make it less time consuming for the person running it.

I just don't play GT5 much at all anymore. I basically play it at 11pm in buildup to Soopa's league and that's it really.. :(
 
I guess the game is getting old , I love it though its the only game i play really , I will just have to focus onto Soopas league , the next season that is .

Cheers, I don't want to take the credit though as I was just carrying on what Wolsta started.

Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully Wednesday will be a good send off..

We will be starting it at 10pm rather than 11pm for the last week by the way.

Was a shame neal had a problem with D/C and there was only the 3 of us in the end.

Anyway, congratulations to SkengD who wins the league by just 2 points!! 👍 Well driven mate and you can claim to be the reigning champion for a long time I'm sure..

Very close in the end with Trebor racing really well over the 4 weeks to just miss out. Unlucky there mate..

I might of won the championship if i put that race pipe on my silvia :lol:

A great week of racing to finish off the league, even though there was 4/3 of us that turned up. even though i didn't win, it was a proud moment to actually be 2 points off even though i missed the first week. Well done SkengD for winning, if someone takes over the league, im gunning for that title ;)

Thanks Kingy for putting the time into making races each week :cheers:, it was a really fun league that has to unfortunatly go away...... goodbye random race league, I hope you get a well deserved re-birth sometime in the future :)
