Let's explore where people stand should Porsche join GTSport, and they also join the VGT project.

Porsche, seemingly a universally loved and much awaited brand.
Combined with the highly controversial VGT project, with some loving it, while others turned away by the 'fantasy' car project.

Personally, I couldn't wait to see what they would come up with.
But let's see what the 3 simple questions of the poll reveals.

Given their huge lineup of real world models and PDs speed of modelling I really wouldn't want that time spent on a fantasy e-peen machine when they could instead be doing something real.

If PD ever outsourced, then I might be appreciative.

I think Porsche made fantasy, reality with the 959. Whatever Porsche can envision, I believe they can make it real.
I think we'd get an actual Porsche concept before a VGT.

No thanks. There's enough cars "powered by technology that hasn't been invented yet" in the game for my tastes already. It'd almost be a waste of the license to finally get it and use it for a bunch of fantasy rolling peacocks.

If this were a more typical GT game, with a massive lineup of cars, it'd bother me a lot less. As is, I don't expect many manufacturers to have more than five models, so every slot matters.

The ultimate Troll move. Every other race game gets Porsche but GTS gets a made up Fantasy Porsche.

No, they can keep the fantasy cars. If I wanted to race space cars I'll play F-zero.

Every other will have the same Porsche but GT could get a unique one:cheers:

No more VGTs, even from Porsche. They've gotten ridiculous to the point where it almost defeats the purpose of the entire project, especially with cars like the Tomahawk and 2X.

The proper road/race cars should come first and foremost.

Yeah, that sounds like a hit.

"Hey, we know you've been itching to drive the 2015/2016 Le Mans winners that you've seen in Assetto Corsa, iRacing, and Forza 6. Maybe the new mid-engined 911 racer is more your thing, as seen in the former two. As the most successful marque in racing history joining the best-selling realistic racing sim, we're proud to announce that you'll be getting neither. We do have a digital dreampiece though, powered by unobtanium and 2025 technology."

Your mileage may vary of course, but I'm not a fan of uniqueness simply for uniqueness' sake. Especially when it concerns a manufacturer with such a storied history. We've waited so long to have Porsche in GT (officially — not counting Kaz' personal 996 GT3 buried in... er, GT3). I'd hate to see it used for VGT projects instead of real-world models.*

    * - assuming, of course, that in this situation, the VGT would be prioritized over the other stuff. Which we'd be unlikely to ever know, one way or the other.

PD could also include those cars if they have the Porsche licence + a unique VGT car
    That's my point:)

...I wouldn't mind getting a Porsche VGT, as long as there are "real" cars as well. But, seeing that PDI are nonsensically against hiring external help when it comes to modeling cars....

Well, if push comes to shove, then no, I'd rather have one more normal car rather than a VGT.

This whole thing feels rather pointless, though. No one has confirmed that Porsche will show up in a GT game, let alone in GT:S. Isn't this basically setting yourself up for a massive disappointment?

I'm sorry but is that from Ridge Racer? Is that at least a teaser for Ridge Racer 8? As much I love that game, I don't want to see its cars in GTS thank you...

Nothing would better make up for the 19 year absence of one of the most storied automotive manufacturers from the GT series like another generic design school student orgasm.

Yes and the point is development resources are finite, there is nothing to say they could include a whole bunch of real cars and a VGT, there would be a "one or the other" situation somewhere. PD take way too long on models, and they don't outsource.

That is why many of us don't want them to spend time modelling the internal structure of a headlight on a fictional car when they could be doing a real one, if they really must.

Yeah, with Forza leaks and PCars, AC, I racing, a Porsche VGT is the most remote thing PD should be trying to model.

Edit: one thing I find funny is, even Hot Wheels has a Porsche out before PD. :sly:
Just bought me the #17 934 RSR Turbo.

Before Porsche even begins to think of designing a VGT, The following cars would have to come out on GTS first:

911 GT3 RS (the newest one)
    917 (both 917k and 917L)
    959
    Carrera GT
    911 GT1
    Boxster S
    Cayman S
Cayenne GTS (because why the hell not)
918 Spyder (yeah sure let's toss that one in)

If you think of it VGT's may have kind of been outsourced to their respective manufacturer's design teams. They are rather smart product placement and marketing tools requiring a singular investment. Deeper/direct collaboration with the involved departments may eventually lead to better understanding of game model specific requirements and possibly(?) serve as a basis for future streamlining between manufacturers CAD and Gran Turismo.
