Would you wanna see PD pack up and leave? In other words, tear up the contract and make their team independent?

What good or what bad do you think would come out of this?

Well for a start they'd have no funding, so they would be worse than they are now(if that's possible ). And that's all I can think of now.

True, unless they sign with a big publisher like EA( ), but then that might bring them back to square one. But atleast they'll have Porsche..

If Sony didn't tell PD to get a move on, we would still be waiting for GT5!

They (PD) are a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony as such no contract exists to tear up.

They could of course all quit, but they would not be able to take the GT brand with them as Sony owns that.

Well, from what I know, PD is Sony owned. Sony has corporate control over Polyphony and they couldn't just pack up and leave.

Also, a lot of PDs funding comes from Sony and they wouldn't be able to make us such awesome games if it weren't for that. So I'd say Sony is a weight worth carrying, cos even though they have to deal with big corp idiocracy like today's, they depend on it to keep being competitive.

If I were Kaz, I would be asking for more funding for an uber team from another console manufacturer, maybe even joining Turn 10's team. Then looking at going multiplat and giving Sony the middle finger.

EDIT: Doesn't make sense, but you get my drift. I have never been this angry with an electronic firm. I feel like I'm going crazy.

I was thinking about that too. If I was a head developer, I'd hate to lose the rights the series I created.

So at the end of the day we need to be yelling at Sony.

Kaz sits on the Sony board so I seriously doubt he will throw that away, particularly as Sony seem quite happy at present to fund his world travels and motorsport aspirations.

They prob also have all signed an NDA regarding all the know-how and etc. They prob wouldn't be able to create a company in the same area for a while without paying a contractual fine that likely is huge...

Then Sony really need to put their best heads together and maybe even bring in some fresh talent for a much needed revitalisation of their corporate views. GT5's launch was a 'mare. GT5's DLC launch is a 'mare. This is their flagship piece of entertainment. I bought my PS3 for GT5 the summer before its first rumoured launch. Three years later I finally get to play the game. Yep, I love it but it's not finished. Not by a long shot.

How does a global multi-billion dollar company manage to mess things up to this degree? And who takes responsibility? Its crazy stuff.

Sony, Nintendo, Capcom, and Toyota basically owns Japan, so not much anyone can do there.

Kaz cannot even create a new custom console to play only GT5 like game because that would be a conflict of interest.

We gotta make do the best we can, with what we have.

We're also to blame. If we knew better, we would not have bought the DLC. This would raise some eyebrows at Sony.

A company like PD couldn't exist without a company like Sony.

Consider this, Team Bondi released LA Noire, a game initially funded by Sony, published and funded later by Rockstar. The game sold well, was quite well recieved... due to poor studio management, the costs involed and the time it took, the company is bankrupt.

PD without Sony would suffer the same fate and Sony are stepping in NOW to let them continue to make the games but also to stop bleeding money, because blank cheques for PD can't continue.

There's studios like Naughty Dog within Sony who spent nothing close to what PD spent on GT5 are getting games out faster and are probably making profit to higher degrees and deliverying, arguably, better graphical fidelity (something PD were known for, making PS hardware bleed), even with lower sales, just because they're better structured.

I think someone from Sony worrying about the cash and management and hiring and Kaz worrying about development, production and the game would actually be better for the game, Sony can be pretty hands off, as the rest of their studios know with the exception of forcing 3D or whatever product Sony wants to push, but they're never actively set down and FORCED a studio to meet an already over extended submission date, a date PD still missed.

No, PD without Sony wouldn't even get a game off the ground, no one would take the risk. Sony only do because PD is guranateed sales.

IF Kaz were to buy back PD and GT, they would have less money but would make much better use of what they had. End of story.

They wouldn't have any funding. I'm pretty sure Kaz is doing pretty well, but it's a lot of money we're talking about here.

And that's not all. PD is almost formed by developers only, SONY handles all their marketing, logistics, etc. PD alone does not have the structure needed to be a big game producer nowadays.

I think sony intervened enough already in the development,1080p 3d 60fps, headtracking, and crap like that delayed the game allot, I can almost guarantee sony was behind all the delays for the stuff they wanted to push the 3d and ps eye.

And now sony would appear to be behind this money grab for multiple account users, they are happy to use the psn numbers when they advertise but when selling dlc realize everyone has multiple accounts and they can sell the stuff 2 or 3 times.

Bit too suspect if you ask me, I don't know how this can be an issue when chromeline and stealth cannot be traded and are free to use on all psn's on the console.

This has put me off buying for the moment in a big way, last week I was dieing to get my hands on it but after this revealation well, will see what happens

Well, after so many years you should get some perks. He did like two big races (not counting the VLN races which he needed to do to qualify for the 24 hour races). And I don't know the whole story but there's also the involvement of Nissan, Toyota and some World Car Awards sponsorship.

The good thing is that the money went back into the sport. But not being a gamer (GT5 is the exception), I don't have an entitlement issue and I'm happy that someone like Kaz can enjoy life.

Kaz can't buy back something he has never owned, GT has always been a Sony owned brand and Kaz a Sony developer.

PD is not a standalone company that got bought by Sony, quite the opposite they were a development team setup by Sony to develop GT.

Wait so because you can't share your DLC on multiple accounts, PD should leave the company who funds them with millions of dollars. Great idea!

Yeah, not being funny, but this was built into the SDK, PD DECIDED to impliment this type of DLC.
