Practicality:
1995_alfa_romeo_155-pic-4933193608440879080.jpeg

Alfa Romeo 155 Q4, had a 2.0L and four-wheel-drive. Same powertrain as found in the Lancia Delta Integrale. Closest I'll come to the thing here in America is the 164, which I plan to find and purchase against my better judgment.

Impractical (not really):

The Lister Storm. I love the car, always have, and always will.

A 250GTL because it's one of the few cars I'd love to own that doesn't seem realistically possible in terms of $, especially by the time I can afford cars of that magnitude which will be many years from now

If the new SRT Viper was a bit nicer on the interior I would be more inclined to use that, but I would probably have a 458 Spyder, 911 Carrera S, or the Adventador.

Older Honda NSX, red, blacktop.

I want it, because:
  • 90's
  • Not overpowered
  • Fantastic handling
  • Fantastic quality
  • Just look at it
  • It's the essence of my perfect sports car

This, and for the same exact reasoning. If not in the red/black, then in all black. The best part is, the $35-40,000 these call for isn't exactly unobtainable.

I still have a poster of a W2 Twin Turbo from when I was little!

But since we're talking about having only one, I'd go for the FC. <3 :dopey:

This is a very tough decision for me. I dont know what I would want to drive every day. I think as of right now it would be a......

250GTO

Why you ask?

Because race car! lol no, I just think they look amazing and are one of the most beautiful ferraris ever.

I'd like to say a Ferrari 250GT SWB, but not sure I'd be get enough use out of a 50 year old classic, so it would have to be a Singer...

Perfect 'old school' 911 looks with 350bhp and modern mechanicals.

I'd have it in a sensible colour combo (silver and dark red interior) to keep it discrete (less of a magnet for the police), reclining buckets for comfort and the basic cage option.

The car would be fast enough to do proper track days and would have enough comfort and practicality to do long European trips such to Le Mans or down to Monaco for the F1 GP.

And when I was driving it I could just sit there and look at it :D

So many things to choose from...

I'll take anything on this list, some I'd be more happy with but I'd be happy with any of them:

VW Super Beetle with more power (150hp-170hp, 4spd)

'55-'59 Ford F100 (must have a 460, 4spd)

'68-'71 Lincoln Continental Mark III (must have the 460 option, 3spd auto)

'72 Lincoln Continental Mark IV (again, must have the 460, 3spd auto)

'70 Chevrolet Chevelle SS (LS6, 4spd)

Any pre-'73 El Camino (supercharged 350 or n/a 454, 4spd)

'69 Dodge Dart (440, or 426?, 4spd)

'06 Ford GT (either white with blue stripes or all black with no stripes)

The sad part is that I think, besides the Beetle, the Ford GT would be the most economical. :scared:

Yeah... you might think I'll say "Dodge Viper" again... I love the car and everything related to it...

BUT...

Today, I feel like I'd do just fine with this...

Why? because it's sexy, mean & rare... :)👍

How economical would you expect a Super with approximately four times its original power output to be? They do about 30 mpg with low-40s horsepower and they're about as aerodynamic as a barn door.

Personally I'd not bother with anything over 100 horses in a road-biased Beetle. My brochure says a 1303 Super weighs about 1960 lbs so it'd be respectably quick even at double the power. And aerodynamically mine doesn't like going over about 60...

I know they don't get great MPG, but do you expect 7.5L V8s with 3 speed autos in 5000lb boats to do better? The Ford GT is the most modern which is why I said it'd probably get the best MPG, excluding the Beetle. Another problem with why the Beetle gets less than satisfactory MPG (from what I thought) is that since it has so little HP, you have to floor it to get up to speed (not floor it all the time, but give it more gas than you would have to in a more powerful car). It really wouldn't need that much HP, but this thread wasn't for practical cars, if it was I would've posted something besides a list of cars with V8s over 400cui's.

Edit: Also, do you have a thread on your Beetle? It seems I've seen one somewhere on GTPlanet before.

Lived in New York my whole life, and seen dozens of Prowlers around, and I've literally never seen one with a front plate bracket before (though, to be fair, it's also rather rare to see people who own Corvettes or last generation F-Bodies actually have them installed instead of the stock plate insert).

It looks worse than I would have thought.

My bored 351w (5.8L) gets terrible gas mileage in a 6600lb pickup, can't imagine what a 460 would get lol

I'd love to own a TVR Sagaris. In my opinion this is one of best looking sports cars of all time and it would be a great car to go for track days in.

(My second choice is a Fairlady Z32.)

^I like the Sagaris but it's just tacky. I guess that's some of the appeal.

In the Mark III and IV Continentals they get anywhere from 4-12 mpg, depending on who you talk to. Also, you have to use premium gas. Also, what transmission does your truck have?

I run on 87 right now with an additive. Gets about 3-6 but it's built and it's got a C6 behind it.

That's probably why hahaha
