If You Could only Drive One Car for the Rest of Your Life, What Would it be?

People hated how it looked when it came out.
I love how it looks. If you look at pictures, the two little scoops on the fenders just above the wheels are there because when the car got up to track speed, there was so much downforce, the wheels would actually scrape the inside of the fender. So they cut holes in the car to prevent rubbing. Everything about it was built for speed and performance.

Yep, the V8 S instead of the V12. It's a classier looking car, 430hp is still plenty, and it's a hatch, so it's reasonably practical (for a two seater). I'd even stick with Cobalt Blue - though I'm tempted by a few other colours on the configurator, namely Ocellus Teal and Amythest Red.

The interior also requires a solid half hour of decisions...

@CAMAROBOY69, you would drive an R8 or a GT-R off-road and in snow? Yikes.
I drive my WRX offroad and in the snow so yes I would. In fact you should check out the weather thread and see just how deep of snow I have been driving in. AWD cars can push through at least a solid foot of snow especially with snow tires. Any deeper than that and a truck would be the better choice. :)

The op never specified exactly what terrain we would be in. Obviously if it crazy deep snow or severe offroad then I would go with the other option I listed....a 4x4 truck or 4x4 SUV.

If I was stuck with 1 car that would mean it would also have to be driven in snow, any climate, and possibly offroad. That limits the vehicle to AWD for sure. So with that said I would lean toward these decisions:
Audi R8 V10 (AWD)
Nissan GTR (AWD)
Subaru Impreza STI (AWD)
Or maybe some sort of 4x4 truck / SUV.
Depends on where exactly we are going with these cars we are stuck with the rest of our life.

The first was in 1927 supposedly and it hit 203 mph (according to Wikipedia, could be fake info) But that was purpose built and not road legal. Even thought the Daytona was a race car, it was still productionish. It was still powered by the legendary 426 HEMI, and in my mind it still holds the title of first 200 mph car, as well as the title of "Most Beautiful Car ever made by 'Murica"
You realize that the engine in the Daytona they used for Nascar wasn't even close to the production engine right?

I know. 426 HEMI is one of the best engines ever built, up there with 2jz and a bunch of others

I'd have a tough time deciding between three cars.

McLaren F1 '94 (the base model) - because it's my all-time favorite car ever since I saw it for the first time in one of my grandpa's (may the man rest in peace) car magazines. It was almost 18 years ago and is still yet to change. My ultimate dream is seeing one in real life, not even to mention a ride or a drive in one. The ultimate supercar and the most amazing machine ever created.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 '09 - because I love its V10 sound; makes my pants feel kinda funny. One of these has lately been flying by my block of flats. It actually woke me up a few days ago  It's a great car to look at, too. And it's probably the last good modern Lamborghini. AND it comes with a manual transmission!

Alfa Romeo 4C '14 - let me just say that I love this thing so much that I swear to God and Satan I'd buy one if I only had the money. And I don't even have a license.

Any of these would make me happy. But I think I'd go for the F1 after all. It's not everyday one gets to behold their #1 favorite thing in the world.

Basic, powerfull, terrifying...

I will own one someday...

On 2nd thought, I think this would be a more suitable option.

Comfortable, Automatic Transmission... still mean and powerful...

I wonder how much money I can get from selling one of my kidneys

This one. The answer to all car related questions is Miata. Thinking of having kids and need a four door? Don't. Need to haul stuff? Don't. Need to get from point A to point B with a smile on your face? Now you may grab the pebble from my hand. Checkout the vid to see (and hear) an unusual V8 swap using a rare Lexus V8.

Bit girly though aren't they?

Honda Civic Si. It would be a car that I could drive every day and it wouldnt break down on me very often, be very economical and still be fun to drive on a twisty road.

What year/gen?

If I had my choice of a car to drive, it'd be this:

But, that'll never happen. So I would probably drive either a Nissan Altima (2005 version with updated performance and interior, exterior) or a Mazda RX-7 (just stock)

Call me dull, but it's comfortable, fairly economical, good looking, spacious, practical and fast. Plus there's good tuning scope as well:

The Ford Mondeo ST220.

My old boss had (or still has) one of these used to get a lift every day in it :)

Upon resconsidering:

I'd go with an Audi Q7 V12 TDI for these reasons:

  • It's a diesel
  • It's a twin-turbo V12
  • 500hp
  • 738 torques
  • 7 seats
  • Quattro

A factory new red 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.
Maybe not the most economical choice but I would make sure to keep it in pristine shape.

My younger self would hate me if I didn't and to be honest, my current self would too.

I've been drooling over this car since elementary school.

Suzuki X-90
Fair play. Never been keen on them myself but their appeal increases as they get cheaper. You can get them for about £500 in the UK  That, and they did rear-wheel drive ones. Which are probably a hoot on rough ground.
I think I may have to switch Porsches.
Once again, I find myself agreeing. A Macan with the diesel lump seems like a pretty perfect all-rounder.

That said, I'd struggle not to update my own vehicle to this:

BMW-i8-Black-Wallpaper.jpg

Best-looking BMW in... well, ages; plenty quick enough, sounds great, doesn't use much fuel (particularly around town), has electric all-wheel drive for occasional slippery situations, stylish interior (2+2 for a dash more practicality too). Hopefully I'll get a go in one at some point this year (ditto the Macan) - it's just a shame I'll never be in the position to buy either of them...

I've been asked more impossible questions...

No I haven't.

And people seem to keep forgetting runnings costs, maintenance and the variability of fuel prices. As such, an uber-luxury car, classic or supercar sadly isn't in the choice folder.
