If you could unlock all cars would you?

No car in the world is worth 20 million $/ credits/ euro

Every should be priced to get competition to buy it. But it shouldn´t be prized to see it as unreachable.

GT is made for driving different cars from different classes, but not for seeing cars at the dealer and repeating races for days to get the money they want.

GT5 is like travelling along a very long, straight motorway with a 50mph speed limit.
It's what you want it to be and what you make of it. If all you get out of it is something dull, well...
Replaying races would be ok if they offered any kind of competition, and I don't mean me picking an underpowered car to make it a challenge.
First, why not pick a different car? The game is packed full of cars and each car can be tuned to different levels - that's a virtually infinite amount of variations. If you can't find something in there that is challenging then, frankly, you aren't very imaginative.

Be honest - how many hours have you already gotten out of the game (the cost of GT is about the same as going to see a few movies which give you a few hours of fun at most)? Now add on to that seasonal events and online and there is a never-ending series of challenges. You just don't get it all handed on a plate all at once.

At first the UCD bothered me, but more recently I'm enjoying the surprise when something awesome shows up.

No, I would not want to unlock all cars.

I think you misunderstand me. The only thing that has improved in GT5 over GT4 is graphics. All those years working on it and still WE have to provide the competition for ourselves because the AI is pathetic, not to mention that, in my opinion (and many others), the entire game is just a mess.

This post expresses my feelings, and you'll see I accept that it's probably just not the game for me any more:

But let's not get off topic :sly:

Not a bad idea if you keep two saves - one as normal (for the challenge) and one with everything (just for a laugh). I had a similar system with GT3 on two memory cards. I used the hacked version (99,999,999 credits and all cars) for experimenting with tuning without having to worry about losing credits. 👍

Absolutely.

I'm done with A-spec for the most part (the Formula races are too long and I don't care about them), and I have no interest in the endurance series.

GT is about *done* for me, so what makes it interesting is actually driving.

I think it's totally ridiculous having to "grind" to get things I paid for, especially some of the 14-20 million dollar cars. I'm not interested in driving them *that* much, so I would love to have them unlocked.

For newbies, yes, it would be frustrating having that from the start, and they'd miss a part of the game, so maybe a level 20-25 or so unlock would be a reasonable thing to do.

I would enter a code to unlock everything, yes.

I've completed over 50% of the game, had the end credits roll tens of hours ago, and I gave up grinding as it's not worth my time and effort.

I'm all for long games and a reward for time invested, but re-racing 1 race for hours is just not entertaining and feels like a waste of my time. I would rather be racing in new races in new cars then re-racing 1 event to buy one single car for one single event.

Although I love GT, I've now shifted to playing Practise Mode and online mode only. I will probably never see the content Polyphony have created because they've locked it out to people who don't want to spend their time grinding.

That's a real shame and I wish they did not force people to resort to that.

In arcade mode? HELL YES
A-spec? No, it would ruin the game. It's life will go way down.

Exactly that. Having all the cars available in Forza was great. Not being able to test drive a 15 million dollar car before you buy is *terrible*.

I'm with everyone who wanted to complete A-Spec like in GT3 & GT4...a challenge.. but soon realized that my time was worth much more than grinding lameness.
Bring on the freebies, the sooner the better so I can get back to Online racing, where the real show is.

Don't waste your time with A-spec, exploit, do it now.. and do it as much as possible.

GT5 A-Spec = Fail.

How about to make up for all the crap prize cars along the way, when you reach max level all car prices change to 0? Or maybe I can browse all the standard model cars.....at any given time.

This would not bother me at all as I would of spent countless hours playing that game to reach it. I'm actually starting to feel this way right now regarding GT5 as I am merely buying cars to tune and drive in practice mode.

Yes.

I like driving and modding the cars, I couldn't care less about grinding away at the same race to raise enough money to buy a car.

Hell Yeah!!:)
In fact even if this was the only update PD would release in the future I would be very happy!!👍
Frankly I don't care that much about buying and upgrading cars in A-Spec.
I prefer driving and racing stock cars without upgrades and tuning the race cars.

To the OP:
If you are an employ of PD and you are trying to gauge the reaction of the community to unlocking all cars in arcade mode, please do it, I am sure many more people would buy GT5! :)

If you're talking about new cars you might be right in that it would be hard to find on worth that much (unless it's customized with actual gold parts and a diamond-studded interior.....).
But if you did some research into the actual real life value of classic race cars like the '67 Ferrari P4 and Ford Mark IV (not even mentioning the one-off XJ13 which is owned by Jaguar themselves) and looked into auction results you may find it's not far off, in fact 20 million Credits might even be considered spot on.
Unlike real life however, 20 million Credits is far more easily obtainable than earning 20 million dollar/euro.

I would preferred GT2 approach to used cars, keeping used cars with there make of car, displaying more cars, some rare cars would still only become only available on certain days.
The problem with the current approach is trying to purchase very common used cars that shouldn't take days for them to appear but does. Prize cars would still remain lock to their events.

No, in forza 3 you can try all the cars and because of that I stopped playing it after a few months.
GT is all about working and saving for the cars and that's the way it should stay.

Yes, but only after i'd finished the A-Spec part of the game. I'd probably only use it to do B-Spec races, e.g. run an X2010 in all the endurance events.

I wouldnt. Ive had the opportunity to dupe a lot of cars I dont own since I swap a number of cars with friends for the various events(mostly seasonal) and just havent done it. Im highly enjoying the grind and feel that all the cars and credits I get Ive earned.

LOL. If I were a PD employee there is no way I would allow that paint chip craziness to happen.

If you asked me that when I was playing GT4 I'd be like "HECK NO!!" because the GT mode felt so complete. I really enjoyed all of the events, racing and trading in prize cars and spending my money on my huge car collection. But now with GT5 they've greatly reduced the size of the GT Life mode, they've lowered the prize money payout. They made reselling cars pointless by making their resale value almost nothing (even eliminating it all together with some cars meaning if you want it out of your garage you have to just delete it and not get a dime). They made GT5 A-Spec a boring grind if you want to collect a bunch of cars and tune them.

Less events, less money, less fun. If I could I'd unlock all the cars in a nano-second now because of the lazy way PD treated the single player A-Spec portion of this game. If they aren't going to put much effort into it I don't see why I should. 👎

I would enjoy having all the cars for arcade mode, use it to "test drive" cars but not in GT Mode, it's ruin the point really... It just ruins all the fun of collecting cars. It does anger me that you can only have 100 "favorites" I wish I could take my entire garage to arcade and online...

Yes, in fact, this should be a option at the beginning of the game. You can either play the "economy" version of the game where you have to save your credits, spend wisely, you know, all that irritating stuff you have to do in your real life that you don't want to bother with when you play a game. Or you can play the "racing" mode. Where there are no credits, you have access to all cars and upgrades from the start.

This way, those that get their enjoyment from spending days to get enough credits to buy a car or two can have their fun. And those that just want to get on a racing game and race all the cars can.

After I've earnt an X1, F10 and a F2007 then yeah I'd do it, it's just waiting around for the other decent cars after that.

I love GT5 and defend it all the time from the complainers. But in a game like Battlefield Bad Company 2 you unlock new stuff by earning points by doing well online. The more kills and points you ear in rounds the faster you progress through unlocks.

In GT5 you earn credits by doing Like the Wind or some other race in an over powered car hundreds of times. Or having Bob do it by leaving your PS3 on for days. That's not an accomplishment. It's just tedious.

But I must add that the seasonal events really help address this problem a great deal. However, it would be so much better if they gave out more points for online races.

When I bought GT5 I really thought that I could just do online races and buy new cars with the proceeds. But even if I won 20,000 Credits in every online race I would have to win 1,000 races to get to 20 mil. Yet sometimes you get 5,000 credits from an online race.

Like I said, whoever assigns credits/xp at PD is clueless and needs to go.
