If you could unlock all cars would you?

Now, with the save backup and car duplication its not that hard to get a car you want to use for any race as people will trade pretty easily.

Yes, in fact, this should be a option at the beginning of the game. You can either play the "economy" version of the game where you have to save your credits, spend wisely, you know, all that irritating stuff you have to do in your real life that you don't want to bother with when you play a game. Or you can play the "racing" mode. Where there are no credits, you have access to all cars and upgrades from the start.

This way, those that get their enjoyment from spending days to get enough credits to buy a car or two can have their fun. And those that just want to get on a racing game and race all the cars can.

Exactly. For a game like GT, bypassing unlocks should be a standard option. GT is the exception, and in a bad way. For future games (or as a patch to GT5) these should be the options:

GT Mode - as is

Simulation mode - no unlocking or credits. It's complete freedom. The player selects the car, and even builds the events to race in. Online will extend from this mode.

If I could I'd unlock all the cars in a nano-second now because of the lazy way PD treated the single player A-Spec portion of this game. If they aren't going to put much effort into it I don't see why I should. 👎

Well said 👍

Yes, for all game modes.
I really hate that i have to play the game lots JUST to unlock the cars, I only wanted the game to DRIVE the cars, this whole XP/Cr. thing just means i get bored of the game before i get a chance to play with the cars i spent all this time unlocking. Although I'm not sure how many people just want to drive and tune cars without any form of reward for it. :indiff:

I like Forza's approach by leaving all cars open for arcade mode. It allows you to get an idea of how the car handles in completely stock state. You can't mod, tune, paint them. Kind of wished GT5 had this too. I look at it as like a test drive that gives you nothing but experience driving the car in stock form

Nah. I'd pass. It would make prize cars meaningless. There would be no need to earn money. You can't buy upgrades without a car. Even in arcade, most should not be available right away. You should have to earn rights in order to unlock certain cars.

Shift has a system where game progress unlocks Tier's in Arcade Mode and driving Spec cars online. This seems to me to be the best way of balancing access to all the cars and gameplay. Basically, especially online, it's a recipe for disaster to allow a noob on his first day to come online in an R8 or ZondaR and just crash about.

Shift's system made you PAY for cars you wanted to upgrade and modify and add a livery, but depending on your Tier of achievement, you could use the Stock version of any car (in that Tier or lower)for a 'Manufacturer' race online. This made for some VERY evenly matched online racing, and was one of my favorite features of the game.

Game progress was pretty quick, too, up to the final Tier (nowhere near the grind of GT5) so it wasn't THAT long before you got to drive the Zonda's and other supercars. But you didn't get them at Day One, which is what seems to be asked for, here. I mean, how are you supposed to LEARN to drive well, if stuck in a 900hp monster car right from the beginning? It's a recipe for mayhem!

I wish they would reestablish the buy and unlock in arcade mode feature.
That said I would love to get all the cars in arcade mode with a cheat but like others said not in GT life.

I'll even go one further saying that GT life races ought to be restricted to certain power levels and car types like they used to do back in GT1 and 2. It's gotten a dab too liberal with modifications and its starting to spoil the fun.

I could unlock all cars and enjoy GT5 for what it's supposed to be and go to bed with a clean conscience. I've payed my 100 bucks

I am not sure I understand the position that you paid for all the cars the day you bought the game. What you paid for was the ability to PLAY THE GAME.

Playing the game is what unlocks the cars. Nowhere in this franchise (or any other console racing game I'm aware of) has there EVER been a day one unlock of everything unless you were willing to hack the game (use a hacked game save). Why does anyone expect this now?

Can anyone tell me a game where every piece, every powerup, every weapon, whatever, is available the minute you boot it up? I must have missed that one.

Unlocking all cars? No, thanks.

It would completely rob GT Life of any meaning it may have had. Furthermore, a lot of the cars are more liek novelty items than cars that I'd actually want to own and drive.
You know, the kind of car you drive once or twice and that's it.

I'm not sure we are reading the same forum, Carrera...!

I've read MANY posts where the poster was incensed that you COULDN'T drive every car from Day 1. Seems like it WAS expected... at least by SOME.

Pong?

I'm pretty sure you got the Ferarri right away in Outrun...

I recall the NFS franchise (back in the Carbon/Pro Street crap days) having DLC on day one that would unlock everything.

I want to obtain every car in the game so I would vote Yes, but only if the cars could be in the colour of my choice and that being a correct manufacturer's colour for that model of car.

I don't like the fact that the UCD has each car in only one colour (with one or two exceptions). I know the Paint Chip lottery (random ones every night) is all well and good but doesn't give me the car I want in my preferred colour.

I have every car in Forza 3 and unless I have done a Custom Livery they are pretty much all in the correct manufacturer's colours for that model.
