When i first played it, to say the least i was awstruck. Being a so-called "Cowboy" was a whole new experience, and very cool at that.

Tho once i finished the game, the online didn't keep me entertained and i got rid of it. Has anyone else had it and ditched it already?

why put it all into one mega thread? he wants to have a discussion about one specific aspect of the game...i think it warrants its own thread.

too many people trying to be mods on this site these days.

I actually didn't get the game because I figured that would happen to me. I could never finish Grand Theft Auto games with out getting bored and seeing as Red Dead is just GTA packaged into a cowboy era I gave it a pass figuring the same would happen.

I just finished the game the other day. Every minute well spent. Never bored me. The landscape while traveling are just awesomely beautifull in this game.

i have this and its still not completed, just doesnt keep me entertained like the gta series.

I've finished the main story line and most of the challenges, but don't really have the motivation to go back and fill in the gaps to go from 94% to 100% for the offline game. Any time i now spend on the game is likely to be online only - but that's the part for me that i find gets repetitive.

I really savored playing through the single player game and certainly feel like i got my money's worth from it. More so than most games i've bought.

I got 100% and suddenly lost the urge to play it anymore, I haven't since. Don't get me wrong getting 100% took quite some time and I really enjoyed it but I don't get the urge to go back like I do with GTA.

But isn't that the case for any game except Gran Turismo games? I mean, whenever I finish a shooter, I am done with it.

Gran Turismo is the only game I keep on playing even after finishing the carreer mode.

I've hit 100% but now I'm really just waiting for the DLC packs for more gameplay.

From,
Chris.

I see that once you reached 100% ( which I did recently ) it can become a bit repetitive and I played it again yesterday after a while and although I enjoyed it there's only a few things you can do which keep being fun ( like hunting dangerous animals ).
Having said that I still haven't played it online ( might actually try it today ) for some reason, might have something to do with the online-experience of GTA not being what I expected.
As for getting rid of it, no way, it still looks gorgeous, offers plenty of occasional fun and a unique experience not equalled by any other game in my collection and even if I was bored by any game after playing it for a while I won't get rid of them if they offered a fun experience initially.
Only those games I judge to be piss-poor the minute I play them and not improve whilst playing are returned or sold.:)

I traded a few games in and picked up RDR for $10.00. I got bored of this game extremely fast. The co-op missions were fun but the campaign bored me to death. I had to force myself to finish it. I can only ride a horse around for so long before getting bored. I already traded RDR in when I got Crackdown 2.

I really enjoyed the story mode, but once i finished all the missions and side quests i have no intention of playing it again. The online free-roam with friends was fun, i wasn't a fan of the versus multi-player. It was worth the cost for the story experience, but once that is over it is now collecting dust. I did a lot of the challenges, but i didn't finish all of them, like the collecting flowers one. (Survivalist i believe) :odd:

Yeah I figured that would be the case with this game, hence why I haven't picked it up. As with GTA4, Rockstar seemed to have put all their effort into making the gameworld so gorgeous to look at and making sure the cutscenes were funny and well done. But take away those 2 elements and there is next to nothing to do. Look at GTA4 - once you get access to a helicopter you have seen the best of what the game has to offer, unlike GTA San:Andreas where there was so much stuff to play about with in a world that was huge.

Rockstar need to go back to making their games fun and have stuff to make you want to go back to them.
RDR still hasn't convinced me enough to buy it, no matter how good the review scores were.

Thats why I tell everyone they need to check out Saints Row 2. Its basically San Andreas for the 360. Its WAY better than GTA4 by a longshot. And to top that off the entire game is full drop in drop out co-op campaign. You can do EVERYTHING together with a friend.

Once I got done with the story I tried to do all the side stuff but it wasn't enough to keep my attention. The bounty hunter missions were extremely repetitive and weren't challenging and the outfit challenges were just dumb.

Its also on PS3..... I got it last January for $15 new at Gamestop. Its only problems are graphics and driving mechanics. GTA4 is good but it feels empty after a while and the multiplayer structure is wack.

By a longshot? Maybe in your opinion which is biased towards any co-op game. Both were great games in their own rights...but I found GTA4 to have that polish that Saint's Row 2 was lacking.

Haven't been back on this thread in a while but thanks for the PA backup xD.
