This was already mentioned in this thread but very little so maybe this is a minority opinion. When I think of seasonal or bonus races I think of races that are not currently in game. As of today most seasonals are simple re-hashes of existing races albeit with the restriction of a specific (odd) car here and there. And while I enjoy them, I believe they could be so much more.

I support and second the idea of having not only different tracks show up in the seasonals but different surface types.

Give us a reason to use the dirt and snow tires that already exist in the game. Let us race on some of the courses that have dirt or snow, again these courses already exist but are rarely seen unless you go into practice or arcade modes.

A truck/suv race on dirt would (imo) be in the true spirit of a seasonal bonus race, something that I have not already completed x number of times.

A race using snow tires on a track that has some snow/ice again would be something we do not see in A-Spec or B-Spec racing.

So instead of throwing out the same old tracks that everyone has driven until they can drive them blindfolded, give us something new. Let us use the snow/dirt tires that already exist in game and use them on the snow/dirt tracks that have already been developed but as of yet are greatly under utilized.

Just a thought. 💡

Just take a look at GT2 (which I still play every now and then)

Most the "A-Spec" races have more and specific brand HP restrictions.
and there are:

9 rally events (in total 27 rally races)
22 special events (in total 74! races)
10 Gran Turismo league events (in total 35 races)
8 endurance races
Manufacture events (in total 90! races)

Thats 234 races!!

So PD... take a look at this classic and actually do what you used to do.

PS: i know the special events like "station wagon cup" did not really need a station wagon... but they could fix this :P

And if we STILL need seasonal events... combine the first 2 with the last (and make it somewhat more unique" and thats fine.
:scared:

I d love to see a Top Gear Time Trial with a fix, standard lil hot hatch like the Suzuki Swift or something like that.

Ice Race on Charmonix is a great Idea too.

More cart races. Maybe on random tracks or the ones you designed yourself, that would make people use the track generator more.

Also races not specific for certain models but certain brands like Alfa, Mercedes, etc. A race where you chase an 8C with a 155DTM and some Brera, Spider etc filler in the Tuscany would be lots of fun, I think.

3 rally events, Trucks only, Rally Cars only and open with a 400hp limit. And at least one road truck race

"If you were in control of SE's, what would YOU do? " - turn off SRF...

As of this last update, I would be very proud.

Would have two types of time trials with a fixed untuneable car and an open series. Really cant be doing with trying to find the perfect tune for a car to lose that last second, like in the new seasonals. Dont really know what im doing in that respect, to be honest im no Adrian Newey, Ron Dennis etc. Ooooh and a hot lap event where you get rewards for how quick your lap is would be nice. Bit like the specials, fast lap = loadsa money.

I would just make one race an insta-40 for EXP and 20million of the bat, monthly.

Just so that the whiners shut up.

Nice, I'd shut down Seasonals permanently. No way for the elitists to get a short cut to 'earn' their car.

Grind Indy suckas! Suffer!! :sly:

Lots more events and lots more rewards. Not to mention more variety! :) 👍

Since the 1.07 patch ballsed up the trading i'd begin introducing Special Seasonal Events once a month containing the high value race and classic race cars, not otherwise obtainable as a prize car, to give everyone a more reasonable chance of getting one without continual grind.
You use the actual car for the special seasonal, ur allowed to tune suspension ect but no upgrades/diff tires allowed. When u get gold u get a nice cash prize of say 1-1.5mil credits 100-150k XP and the car ur using, ones like the Miura, the ferrai 330 race car, F2007/F10 ect.
I wouldnt want it to be as difficult as the X1 challenge, yes a lot of people have completed it, sum even with gold but there are those of us who may be good drivers, we're just not THAT good.

The special Seasonals could also be a good way to introduce free DLC of tracks and cars. for bronze u get cash prize, silver gives u a new course and cash prize (spa, brandshatch ect) and gold gets u a new car (testarossa, diablo SE, other most wanted car added) the track and the cash

1st thing i would do would be to stick to the timeline PD gave for the release of new seasonals...every Thursday+/-24 hours!

2nd thing, double the amount of events.

3rd, offer some kind of restrictions whereby those who stay within the restrictions get double the reward of Cr and XP.

4th, make SE downloadable to A-spec and add a prize car along with a lowered reward system.

5th, those who wanted a Ferrari SE got their wish, i would add some rally and classic car Se's?

1) Have better "themed" races which have race type requirements (eg. FR, FF, rally, snow, year range, weigh, make, nationality. etc).

2) Let you use any BHP car within the requirements, and set up an algorithm that calculates your prize money based on the PP of the car you choose, and your tires. So if its a hard race, you'll get loads of money, if its easy then you get hardly anything. They for should also enable standing starts and let you choose your starting position, and this should also effect your prize money. I would also apply this to A-Spec and online (where applicable) races.

I would make more of them. They expire tomorrow, and there aren't any new SE's yet. I thought there was supposed to be new ones each week?!?!?

Thats a good idea. But I also think:

  • standing start,
  • the exact same car from the series
  • add a new "celebrities from the series" filter like they recently have with the "friends" filter, and celebrity leaderboard should be updated each time a new show is aired
  • event shouldn't expire until Top Gear stop using that car.

I wouldn't, I'd permanantly add 50+ more events to A-Spec. Really, how hard is it to think of and generate new events? They couldn't even manage that with the seasonals this week bar one, just the same basic FF/FR/AWD races from A-Spec.

50+? That's just not enough.

Do you know how many GT4 had?

On topic. I would add 1,000 events in A-Spec first before messing around with Seasonal Events.

Add events were you have to use a specific car unmodified with specific tyres and have to obtain a hard lap time on a track and when you do you get 20,000,000 CR. SIMPLES!

Has to be a hard time to get though.

A seasonal event based on new tracks. When you win, you get to download the track. Don't make it easy, but don't make it hard. Have restrictions on car type, power, and tire use.

The first thing that I would do is increase the XP and money cap. Secondly I would add different types of races, such as Rally and kart. Make it about 8 races, have 4 be regular races, 2 be rally and 2 as kart.

Probably a little something for everyone.

For the drift and time trial events, don't change the current formula, just keep the results permanently.
Time trials will be separated between road and rally. Each week we get one road event, one rally event, and one random one (road or rally) that's made from a generated track. Eventually the events will cycle through all the courses (excluding the generated one) and when you do an event that's done before, it'll have a separate leaderboard for the date it was available. However there will still be an overall leaderboard for that track and you'll have a chance to improve your standing once again.

For the other events, firstly, if the event uses a generated track, allow us to save it so we can keep it if we like it.

- Return the restrictions from the first couple waves of events.
- Make the payout similar to and A-spec race of similar difficulty.
- Make the payout higher while the event is active but somewhat lower when it's archived. (made permanent)
- Have them standard races rather than catch-up races.
- Make them repeatable and permanent.
- Once a race is made permanent, it'll be moved to a different named section on GTLife.

Bonus races with high payouts should remain the same (except with the restrictions)
Maybe have some of the races reflect the available cars in the online dealership.

I would post an archive of all past and present seasonals, with orders to keep it updated in the future. The archive would show the following:

-Regulations
-All cars used by the AIs (time & drift trials N/A obviously)
-The modifications applied to those cars (see above)
-Tracks used
-And finally, it would allow users to download any track that had ever been used in a seasonal (including GT Academy courses and courses that can't be used online).

I would have a PP based reward system. So you can use any car you like within the parameters, but if you use a very fast car then you wont get much points. If you pick a car which is evenly matched to your opponents then you'll win big.

I was thinking somewhere along these lines:

Take the mean average PP of the opponent cars.
Divide this by the PP of your own car, and multiply the result by itself (squared) to get a 'multiplier'.

Then apply the multiplier to the base score for that race. So if you picked a car that has 300PP, and the average of your opponents is 250PP, then your multiplier would be 0.69, so you would only get 69% of the base reward for that race. The other 31% could be called a 'fine'.

If you picked a car that has 300PP, and the average of your opponents is 400PP, your multiplier would be 1.77, so you would win the base reward, plus an additional 77% 'bonus'.

@ Mattv: Thats exactly the same thing that I would suggest! 👍

Otherwise I m quite happy with the way PD handles the SEs lately. Some ideas from my side:

- make the competition a bit harder, the last SEs have been rediculously easy
- use more rare tracks or reverse versions
- generally improve the rewards a bit, maybe to half the way it was with the first SEs

Cant wait till tomoro, hopefully there ll be some new ones at all! :sly:

I'd allow people to create their own events and then post them to the public.

The creator specifies:
Tracks
Car Regs
Laps
Prizes
XP

They would then have to be sent out to be approved before being posted.

We are well due for more London and Cote D'Azur races!

Whatever I created; I would make sure its up and ready online when I said it would be; and keep to my 'advertised/promised' schedule :sly:

Try to create 2-3 new races each week. Give them slightly higher payouts while adding restrictions. When the week is over, add them to a "Retired Seasonal Events" section where they are available for A-Spec racing regularly with more of a standard payout and no restrictions.

Good idea 👍

Great Thread... Good question, good answers...

maybe Polyphony should emply GTPlanet subscribers to do their Seasonal Events...

(At least that way we will get new content with updates, (Rather than patching their problems).

i would only ask for one, the seattle 100 miles endurance, or maybe make it 200 miles.

and you would have to use your weapon of choice from before 1980 any country and max 650HP

make it like 4mil payout and 1mil XP
