If for whatever reason you had to purchase a new vehicle as a daily driver from the 2009-2010 model years, what would you choose (include a picture)?

To start off, I'm more of a truck guy, so I would go with the Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD Extended cab, V6, 6-speed

And by the way I did search for this idea (read: looking at each page) and didn't find anything similar.

Given my affinity towards older cars and my derision of pig-heavy, safety-gadget-laden modern vehicles, it's notable that I am seriously considering the 135i. Six-speed, of course.

A new DD? Probably a 335i sedan sport package. I like the 135i a whole lot, but it's just too small for my daily needs.

Either that or an S4 Avant. The current A-platform is so much better than the previous one. Money no object, of course.

-> Simple:

Honda Fit [GE] Sport {5M/T} 5-dr. hatchback '09

^ Best alternative to my S2000 (in which is my current DD). More spacious, better on gas, cheaper to maintain, more interior toys, and equally fun. ;)

buickgnx88-> I also do like the Taco too, but a truck for me right now might be too big for me (although I'm 6'3) and for my needs. :)

Wolfe-> I have an infactuation towards 135i's. Aside the E46 M3, this may be my favorite Bimmer. ;)

Same gadgets and safety as my current 500 but with a turbo bolted on for a bit more fun :D Plus the brakes are good enough to rip your organs out, the interior is ace, and I love the styling with a passion.

Easy-peasy...

2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS

The only option box I'd have to check would be the stick, maybe the RS package, otherwise I'd be happy with the SS1 trim level. $31K, and out the door I go. Otherwise, the Pontiac G8 GXP would be calling my name, but I don't need something that big.

RE: Toyota Venza

I thought I'd hate it. Then I sat in one and fiddled with it at the auto show. Now I like it. A lot. Srsly.

I'm saving up for the down payment.

2009 Mazda RX-8 R3

If I wasn't addicted to rotary engines, the new Camaro would probably be my pick.

A new DD. How much am I making. For now, I'll just go for subcompact...

Yeah, seriously. I'd consider one.

Sorry no picture:
But for a Daily Driver it would be one of two cars:
A Mazda6 iTouring 4cyl.
A VW Jetta.

Though there is a sweet little Honda Civic Si at the Credit Union on the "for sale" line that is even in a color that I happen to be fond of.

Nice idea for a thread 👍

This was quite tricky for me. There are very few brand new cars I'd buy with a sensible budget - I'd always find something more to my tastes second hand and for less money! If I had to buy new though, and with a reasonably sensible budget, I'd probably go for the Mazda MX-5 Roadster-Coupe.

Would be good fun in everyday driving, reliable, quick enough, reasonably economical, and getting the retractable hard top version would give extra security and be that bit warmer in the rubbish weather we get. I don't need more than 2 seats currently.

If my budget was lower, it'd be another Mazda I'd get - a Mazda2 1.5 Sport.

It's a nice looking truck, but doesn't come with a stick! *wags finger* It's too bad the R/T doesn't come with one like the SRT-10 did.

I would say Chevy Volt, but seeing how they would be released in 2010, id like to wait a year or two for the bugs to get sorted out.

For now I guess:

With a few bolt-on of course..

Most likely a 2009 Ram 1500 Sport R/T:

Other possible choices would be a BMW 335I, Chevy Camaro, or Dodge Challenger SRT-8. And if I had a bit more money then a E92 M3 Coupe.

For me?

Probably a 2009 Ranger with the four banger and a stick OR the new Mustang. GT, stick, loaded is as loaded does, out the door for a hair under 30k.

EDIT: Or rather... As loaded as Ford's site will let the base GT be.

Money no object?

Money from my own pocket...

2009 Ford Mustang GT:

Easy... a white Challenger R/T with the 6 speed... Vanishing Point style, baby!

Money no object:

317kw of V8 power combined with the ease of a wagon and the ability to fang it around racetracks 👍 me wantee

They forgot to mention that it's as big as a house.

He said he was a truck person (full size trucks are big), not an econ-o-box fan.
I like JCE's idea , a new Mustang , it's not a truck , but it is pretty cool.
