Right what you have on your map view is a yellow dot, this should be seen from the plane as a yellow flag? there waypoint markers, also on the map planes are....well little planes and ground targets are little horizontal bars. if your looking for an enemy plane you should see it on the map as a plane, if it's not there then you won't be able to find it! A quick tip is to have subtitles on during the training missions, that way you won't miss any info from your instructor. Happy hunting.

Thanks for the help :-)

I was finally able to finish the Simulation tutorial, but my god those vechiles on the ground was hard to see.

Im using the PS3 pad, and i also find the controls a bit anoying. Have to press right analog to look around, wich is the same analog used for throtlle and rudder, making it almost imposibel to look around without giving input to throttle or rudder.

I may buy a flightstick, but I think ill wait a bit since i heard there is coming a patch wich will make customicebel controls, and fix some other stuff.

Also im still a bit confused or maybe i misunderstood you.

I know how to look at the map and see the land markers and other planes ( yellow dots and yeallow bars ) but is there a way of knowing wich altitude the enemy planes are at ?

No way of knowing at what altitude enemy planes are unless radio coms tell you (which is rare) But yellow flag markers (waypoints) are at se hights which is an indication as to the next targets hight. More useful on single missions or tutorial.

Can't wait until I get this game!! Reading over these post makes me want it really bad. I don't have a flight stick but I'm real comprabale on most games with the pad...I'm sure I'll be ok. Have fun everyone and I will soon will be soaring over the skies in Europe.

Yes the game is very good.

I havent really played a flight game since Commodore Amiga days. Wings and F18 interceptor was some really good games back thens. So im not used flight games, let alone the Simulation mode, however its great fun.

Arcade is way to easy for my taste though, and im kinda a sucker for collecting trophies. Thats why I toke up simulation. Anyway it was well worth it im getting better with it now. I just completed the first 3 mission on the campaign in simulation mode.

I have another Questions though, if anyone know ?

I was playing online Strike mode on arcade. But it seemed no matter how acurate I was bombing the targets i dont get any scores ?

I was thinking maybe the bombs i carryed is to small or something else ( Using the Ju 87 B-2 its the only bomber i have so far), but i was quite anoying i have at least 50 times hit a ground target directly without getting a score. Is this normal ?

Well, that's wierd, and i think that's an error from the game, not the type of bombs or the bombers you use, or it can be from the arcade level, try realistic and simulation.
lIf you don't get any points even that way, i realy don't know why...

cheers

Well after playing a lot more games on Strike i found out, it is because there is huge diference to how big the bombs are.

With small bombs you need to bomb a ground target many times to destroy it
It still gives a reduction in the oponents team tickets, even if the target is not destroyed.

Its harder to find games on realistic or simulation, as most people are playing on arcade. Also need to play a truckload of multi player games to unlock other planes, and weapons, so doing it on arcade is much faster.

But I agre with you arcade is pretty dull. Im doing the campaign, and single player missions on simulation mode.

A good thing to do when bombing is fly onto 10.000ft over the target and roll upside down and then dive at the target wait 3 seconds the let go off a couple of bombs then pull out it is the best way to make sure they all hit the target. But make sure you pull the throttle back to 0% all you well have trouble pulling out of the dive as you will be going to fast. Then just climb to 10.000FT and do it all over again it really make's a differents when you are playing on sim mode.

There he goes, barn stormer dyre and his stunt bomber flying style LOL

well, that thing of the bombs it's a little irealistic, Stukas, with those bombs, sunk many ships, destroy many ground targets and many other things...

And that thing of the bomber at 10,000ft, agreed, (unless you're totally crazy) you don't want to dive with a level bomber such as a B25 at a low altitude with thw WEP engaged. Anyway that sonds fun, going to try as soon as the game's available.

cheers

I don't think Dyer was on about the Stukas......Think BIGGER, much bigger LOL

Thats what the encyclopedia say's to do in the game so went and done a bomber mission to try it out and it make things so much easyer to hit the target with out the gay ground shadow to look at. And yes not the Stukas think BIGGER, much BIGGER LOL

Thinking Bigger... I thing i got it, but still a little confused.
You can fly Avro Lancasters, B17's, B29's, HE111's? Much Bigger than the stuka...

Cheers

Now your thinking the right size....now go back to the bit where he starts his bombing run inverted and in a dive.........

That's some crazy flying, but always in the same place, and doing the same thing except with the bomber and with the fighter jet, but very well done.

Hey, something i always wanted to know since the demo's out... Is Spitfire Mk. IX available in the full game?
It's my favorite WWII plane...

Hey, i changed the controls to 50% and there's basicly no changes in the flight.
Any help is apriciated. And you know when the DLC will come out, i can't fly a plane without being in the cockpit.

cheers

I reviewed this game a few days ago and I really recommend it to anyone that likes this genre, it's the best you can get on consoles 👍

PS: First post after years of lurking!

can we have a link to the review? or is it magazine only? Just picked up the expansion pack for the game, when I get chance to try it out I'll pass on any info.

I havent played this so much lately. Busy with FIfa 10, and NFS shift, but have the patch come out yet, or anyone heard when its aviable ?

Im kinda toke a hold on the game until the requirements to unlock all the planes and weapon layouts becomes a litle more easy to fullfill.

Wow, interest in this game seems to have dropped off a cliff!

I was wondering if anybody has come up with an alternative controller set-up. At the minute the right stick controlling throttle, yaw, & look-around is unworkable IMO. And my Saitek Gold USB stick does not seem properly functional either. :indiff:

Nobody plays this game anymore? I've finished the career mode, missions and whatsoever... Now it's boring... If someone still plays this game, please, let me know, to meet, and have some fun online!

Cheers

Ahh yes the briliance that is BOP.

Unfortuanatly the game is dead in terms of development (you have publishers not putting the money in to blame for that) but the dev team who after being on the IL2 forum since summer last year I trust alot have promised a sequal with a diferent publisher.

(oh and kaz should read what was posted by the dev team they got told to shut up by publishers for releasing to much info before release)
I play realistic mostly if anyone wants a game I remain unbeaten at the folowing game setup.

realistic
1v1
manston
CTA

And anyone having trouble with the I16 or I153's engine its because it uses a carburetta not fuel injection so its gravity fed and negative G's will starve it of fuel.

I'm still playing it, but on occasional bursts.

out of curiosity, can I fly every aircraft that appear in the game?

Sorry for sort of resurrecting this thread, but I just picked up this game the other day from Wal-Mart as it was on sale for $20. I love World War II games and I love flying games, so I have high hopes for this one!

My question though, is whether I should play using the controller or a joystick. I was looking through the options menu and I saw USB joystick compatibility, which looked cool, especially since I'm deadly out of practice with a controller! (The last flying game I really got into was Secret Weapons Over Normandy way back on the original Xbox - good game but very arcade-y)

So, is it worth my while to re-learn flying on the joystick? Will I get more enjoyment out of it? And what are your thoughts on the game in general??

Its a bit like GT5 fun with the pad but its worth getting a joystick.
BTW SEQUAL IN PACIFIC IS CONFIRMED check the 1c board for more details as its not been announced yet the confirmation is sort of coded check the 'Interview with Gaijin CEO and President Anton Yudintsev 25/02/2011 thread.
