Ace, I didn't know you could fly bombers and even the German planes! And the RAF Bomber in the picture is Bristol Blenheim I think...Anyway, can't wait to get a rental of this game. 👍

Yeah it is the Bristol Blenheim, like flying a brick.....but it's nice not to snap role all the time LOL.
If I see ya later on Dyer I'll send you an invite. how you finding it? I've started trying the single missions and currently I'm using "realistic" settings why I get used to it. Some great missions in the single player section, the bomber one from the above picture for instance see's you returning over the channel after a bombing run. Your co-pilot spots a german bomber squadron and your given an option, "Attack bombers or continue to base" well being the idiot I am I thought "yeah the Bristol can pretend to be a spitfire"...........60 seconds later I'm plumeting into the english channel with no wings.....but I've got the biggest grin on my face. Thats realy what strikes me about IL-2, it has that same imersive feel the PC version has

Hi guys, i've been playing the demo and i think this game is awsome. Can't wait to have it!
Anyway, how do you shot down a German bomber formation with a bomber? The only attack option is the Gunner, and it's a single one, and i totaly agree with you with the " it has that same imersive feel the PC version has"
The only thing i didn't noticed yet it's the G Effects in the game, maybe it has the positive G effect but i don't know about the Negative ones... Without that, as everyone said, the game it's perfect. The only flight simulator for PS3 so far.

The bomber actualy has a foreward center mounted gun.....well more like an airsoft gun LOL problem lies in the speed and size of it and the armour the german bombers have, plus there rear gunners are very acurate. I have a plan to hit them from underneath and possibley fro in front but the rear gunner isn't the easiest of things to use! As For posertive and negertive G it is there but the speed and manouverability of WWII aircraft means your not going to pull huge G like modern fighter planes. As an example however go into a spiraling dive with full WEP and full rudder, this will blackout your pilot, then try an outside loop......it should awnser your question.

Not a big flight sim guy here, although I played many of the Ace Combat games and loved them. Downloaded the Demo and had some fun with it. The detail is amazing. I will continue to play the demo some more, but not sure if this is a purchase for me. I may pony up the few bucks to rent it though.

I'm not sure about this game, I have played the earlier versions of the PC game and I thought they were extremely good but something just doesn't feel quiet right about this console version but I can't put my finger on it.

Just finished an online session with the UKOG guys, dyre and beast, capture the airfield was the game of choice. Had some really good scraps and a good laugh. coms are good and there was 1 plane that lagged out of all the matches. Quick tip, don't try landing at night LOL Oh and arming up with rockets is good for taking out planes on the ground trying to capture your airfield.
Most are sticking to arcade so we had to setup rooms in arcade mode to get people in, but from what I saw there were a fair few playing and all were a friendly lot so I expect the comunity to grow over the coming weeks. One bad point is the damned lobby system, finish the match and thats it, you have to set a new room up. not a huge problem but a bit of a pain considering the rest of the online system is so good.

Loved the demo, finished all the tutorials on "perfect" first try (no, not arcade mode).
Need the full game asap, but i doubt i can buy it anytime soon. 8(

Nice one for the other night hereward i am really injoying the game but have got stuck on the mission nuts was just flying around last night for 100mins after killing every think on the map. But have unlock some nice planes to use and can't wait to get online with them doing strike with the il-2 bomber.

Picked up a copy myself over the weekend, still going through the missions at the moment, on that last Russian campaign one.

Have to try and find sometime tonight to give the on-line a go.


Very impressed with the game, particularly as I don't normally go for flight sims, but the demo more than sold it to me (that at the Asda £30 price tag).

Ruddy students, ther'll be discarded pot noodles and issues of private eye scattered around the billet before you can say tally ho! I also hear he's one of those Irish pilots.....won't know which side he's on if you know what I mean Ginger!



Just had a couple more hours hitting it and have unlocked a few planes, including the big german bomber.....that thing drops 6 bombs at a time! Think we need it for online strike missions LOL Also started the starlingrad section of campaighn, quite funny with the IL 1 6, you get behind a 109 and he just opens the throttle and leaves you for dead! Also the WEP tends not to cut your engine out for a few seconds, rather it simply fries it and your left to dead stick in! On the plus side it's sertainly got a nice handleing feel plus it takes about the same damage as a tank.....which is handy LOL
Oh yeah, single missions, I did the "take the bomber squadron down with the bristol bomber" one, you need to fly in front and below the german bombers then use the rear gunner to take them out. Not the easiest of missions but not quite as hard as the "inspect allied airfields" on simulation. basicly middle of a storm, huge gusting sidewinds and you have to do 3 touch and go landings on the 3 airfields at dover....easy enough but it's not touch and go! No you have to physiclay come to a halt then take off again! now the big strip, no problem but just trying to get the plane to stop on the short runways is a work of art! There has to be a brake button somewhere!!!!!

Wait until you get the IL-2 that thing is even stronger, handle almost as well and sounds great (oh and has cannons, missiles and bombs).

Got to say the replayability is good in IL2, I'm getting stuck into the single mission stuff, got silver on most of the first batch (do all first batch second batch unlocks ect) and done a few golds as well, (Bronze = Arcade Silver = realistic Gold = simulation) Theres alot of unique missions in there with some of the non mainstream aircraft. really well thought out as well, like the missions where your just out on patrol and stuff like that, also some of them start on the runway and end there so you get the whole flight.

Has anybody got either the Me262 or the Komet yet? I really want to try them, although I'm not into flying the German planes much due to the lack of cockpit. I can't wait to get my AV8R as sim mode is brilliant with the xbox pad let alone a stick.

1C have said they will put out the most popular Axis Cockpits with future DLC. originaly there were to be only 12 planes available to the player but they decided to make all 40 aircraft available at launch just minus the cockpits due to time constraints.
To be honest though I use the HUD view most for it's better view point so it's not really an issue for me.

I find the HUD view a million times easier but I like the immersion and looking at the gauges of the cockpit view.

Nice one Scaff for tonight shame u had to get off as i put it on sim mode for team dogfight and this person was giving me and the-beast a right run around as we could not find him for 15mins cuz he was at 15000ft . So went up to get him but the little bugger dive and so lost him again with the-beast looking low and me high but we did not get him at all in 20mins. looks like strike is going to be really good in sim mode and with 16 in the room cuz we did do one tonight when it was cloudy and it was well hard to hit the targets when you have only got 4 bombs to use.

The couple of on-line matches I played last night were fun.

The first (Strike on Realistic) was a bit bizzare with only three of us and a low cloud base with rain. UKOG-dyer, The Beast and myself flying around looking for each other (oh and crashing because bombers don't work upsidedown).

I would have to add that the IL-2 is quite nice in Realistic mode as its a damn sight less twitchy than the Spitfire and a lot less proce to stalling, not that I didn't manage to put it into the ground at least once.

The dogfight on Arcade was far more action packed, not that I managed to down a single plane, I am however very, very impressed with just how stable and lag free the matches are. I just wish it kept the same lobby after a match finished, rather than booting everyone out.

Played a bit more of the Campaign last night and got out of Russia, the last mission of which is excellent, hunting transporters at night before they can land to re-supply the German troops trapped in Stalingrad.

Now moved onto Sicily, but only completed the first mission, I must say at the moment I'm torn between the two sides of the game. As I want to fly on-line to try out the planes I've unlocked; however I also want to unlock them in the Campaign and see how it all unfolds.


Great game and glad the demo convinced me to buy it (and hats off to my mate who convinced me to try the demo in the first place).
