anyone no any good programmes that burn dvd's/cd's for osx? something lie nero would be great.

It’s been overhyped to death, but Disco is supposed to be pretty good. I’ve never used it though (I’ve never burned a CD on this computer).

I just want to back up video files and mp3s and any images, been looking at toast and just had a look at that disco, toast made by roxio I don't trust their software since some naff thing they created killed one of my old pc's. So I may give Disco a go.

Unless you're looking for extra functionality, you could always just use what's already built-in OS X.

Finder: File > New Burn Folder

Just drag what you want to back-up in the folder, and you're set. BTW, here's a useful tip if you don't know whether the contents of the Burn Folder will fit in your disc or not: Before inserting the disc, click "Burn." It will tell you how what size disc you need.

Good luck!

Congrats Sprite! welcome to mac world
It must be a thrill to own a 24in iMac
For burning disc, I usually insert blank media and drag files to the DVDR
just hit burn button on right top corner of the DVDR folder when done
it will burn and perform verifying, but I usually skip the verifying part
don't worry! it has no side effect at all
if you need to burn image, use disk utility from control panel thing

Sometimes I use help from the apple icon, not bad for finding answer by comparing google the information. Good luck mate!!

Another one who has switched! Good stuff. 👍
I currently only have a 1ghz iBook G4, the smallest one possible. It's getting a bit old now though and I'm hoping to get an iMac next. :)

Thanks guys for the tips, will probably use the OSX burn function as I dont need to burn audio cds or DVD movies in any specific way so OSX's own burn function will do. 👍 god I love this mac. :D

Just downloaded Camino and It gave me an error message saying that the .DMG failed to mount due to it not been recognied, and its the latest version 1.0.3.

[EDIT]

Dont panic :D re-downloaded it and it works fine, much faster than FF, But I want my noscrip plugin and I will be happy.

Wait, you downloaded 1.0.3? Get the 1.1 beta (just got out of alpha yesterday), it has a lot of new features.

Try it out if you like. :)

Yeh did look to download this, but I would rarther take stability over features. Do you know if they plan to have the same kind of database of plugins like there is for FF. I also need an alternative to photoshop, because I have CS2 and have tried to download the beta of CS3 as CS2 runs like a lathargic turd on my mac :D

With stability, I found that the 1.1 alpha was much, much more stable than Firefox. The beta should be very stable.

As for the plug-in database, that probably won't happen.

Well, CS3 is really the only Intel-native Photoshop "alternative" you have. There's Macromedia Fireworks which is pretty fast for a PPC app, but that's about it...

Where the heck sells these I-Macs around here?

The man at PCWorld thought I was an escaped mental patient when I asked him about one.

Hmmm....

The results say PC World, but they said they didn't sell them and wouldn't do.
Nevertheless, another trip down there it is!

Thanks for the link Duck.

Wait, I just remembered this. While it's not nearly as big as the Firefox extensions database, it sure can suit many people's needs.

cheers, will have a look at it. Im loving the speed of camino, I just whish I could get rid of the pesky flash adds all over forums (not that I have to worry about my number one site on the net, im a lifer)

Go to the main "Web Features" pane to enable popup and ad blocking. Then, install CamiTools (install it from VersionTracker.com) and enable blocking:

They sell them in my local store. Admittedly they quarantine them from the normal PCs in a separate aisle, but hey. Not that they'd have known anything about them, of course, when the people who serve me can't work out the benefits of having a dual core processor - "Uh yeah well it means you can do 2 things at once". Great, thanks for that...

It turns you into a multi-tasking woman?
Wow, technology is advancing.

Having a look round lately for a new Mac, not sure if it's really that much greater than a PC, despite what Mitchell and Webb say.

I would put it the easiest way to choose.

PC for gaming
MAC for everything else

Personally I wont be going back to PC only once Crysis comes out, and that PC will only be gaming ring nothing else. My MAC does everything I wanted it to do.

Boot Camp or Parallels will see to the gaming side of things too ;)
