I'm going to write an e-mail to Sony!

I got the following response from Sony

Hello "My Name",

I have heard your concerns regarding the downloadable content for games such as Gran Turismo 5 only being available for the profile that purchased it. I can understand that this is a frustrating situation to encounter and your desire to have an online registry where you can place a master account (IE: PlayStation®3 system Serial Number) and list all of the profiles for that PS3™ under it to share content. I do apologize for the inconvenience that this situation has caused you.

We value your input and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Please rest assured that we will convey your feedback to Sony Computer Entertainment America, LLC's ("SCEA") appropriate management.

As much as we would like to address all of your questions, there are certain topics that are simply out of the scope of this department within SCEA. You have reached the Consumer Services Department within SCEA, and we handle all general inquiries for our PlayStation® family of products, warranty and repair information, installation and troubleshooting, general corporate business inquiries, and third party software referrals, just to name a few.

Very specific questions on any particular product (e.g., manufacturing process), programming details of software or hardware, 'reasons or beliefs' on why a product did or did not include certain features, personal opinions, and personal contact information for developers, publishers, and other company employees, are some of the topics that cannot be addressed. Also, there are certain topics that we may not be able to address due to the fact that they are confidential and proprietary to SCEA.

I recommend that you submit this awesome idea at the following URL for future consideration:

http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/

Even though we are unable to provide you with information on why we only allow downloadable content for games such as Gran Turismo 5 to be available for the profile that purchased it, I am confident that by submitting your idea to have a master account (I.E.: PS3™ system Serial Number) and list all of the profiles for that PS3™ under it to share content to the URL listed above it will be considered for future use.

Regards,
"Sony Representative"

I realize the problem now.

Kaz says there's no way to assign non-onetime DLC to multiple accounts. Which brings us back to the main issue... NON-ONETIME DLC SUCKS! Why for great justice and crying out loud don't they make it like any other DLC: you make one purchase with real-world money, and from then on the content is available in the game just like any other content. WHAT WOULD BE THE PROBLEM WITH THAT?

Speaking of which, are the DLC cars available in multiple colors?

No. From what I have been able to piece together the cars are "Placed in your Garage" like the bonus content for Pre-Order. You cannot buy more from the New Car Dealer or buy an extra for having them with permanent bolt on mods (dont know if perm mods are available). Also the paint chips you only get one of each. Once you use it, its gone so no painting your "fleet" of cars your favorite color.

The answer is simple. It should not have been a "NON-ONETIME DLC". I agree that cars, gear, and paint chips should NOT be tradeable but you should also get unlimited # of those colors of paints or atleast 20-30 of each. Also DLC content should be available to all profiles on your PS3

Plain n simple?.... they have done this cause is "GRAN TURISMO", the very tip of PS3's Blade.....Like the new system that Uncharted 3 will have the "u-pass" so you wont be able to borrow the game or buy it used..... and if you do.... you'll have to pay some euros to PSStore to get an unlock code.

There is NO chance that they would have done stunts like that, if we were talking about some other s****y games.......You Greedy b******s...

Even though that i dont have a 2nd PSN account and i dont care sharing it, this 2 latest moves by sony just made me not want to buy anything anymore.
Thankfully i havent bought DLC yet cause i havent found the time, and honestly i wont.

And I don't care if they don't answer it! So join me!

As you may have noticed, the upcoming GT5 DLC is the victim of incredibly greedy implementation which requires you to re-buy it if you want more of the paint chips, more of the DLC cars, don't like the randomly chosen colors of your cars, or have multiple accounts. Kaz has pointed the finger at Sony, but his wording is confusing.

Whatever it means, we need to let Sony know exactly what we think of their decision: IT SUCKS!

Later today, I will set up an e-mail account to which you can send your letters of complaint. They will be edited for language and legibility, then sent on to Sony. But until (or even after) I get the e-mail account set up, you can post complaints here to be collected when I set it up.

Remember, with our support Kaz and his team have a better chance of getting their way with Sony... so let's do it!

Would you like some cheese with that whine? This just smacks of the old people who write into BBC Points of View just so they can hear Terry Wogan read their mellodramatical letters out on TV, the type of people sad enough to complain that a live sporting event watched by millions has over-run onto their antiques show which is watched by a few hunded. Use your brain before you start a thread.

So Sony and PD just introduced an microsoft style distribution bs to us, while they were doing the exact opposite over the last years since PS3 release and all you have is standard talk about how you don't like people complaining. Seriously I don't get some of you people. 👎

What's funny and really ironic is that companies like EA, which a lot of people view as the scum of the earth, were a lot more generous with their DLC for Shift 2 than what's going on with GT5's DLC. It's almost comical how people try to justify this garbage that Sony is now pulling.

There is no other way to implement rare things in the game.

Just buy it once and enjoy the colors while they last. They will probably have a new set every DLC to enjoy. It's not like $12 for a yearly update is too much for anyone who plays this to afford.

You'll find it hard to actually make use of all the colors, before there's another batch available.

Well if we get a Spec upgrade then you know UnlockLC will follow.
At least we will see this coming next time, if there is one.

Edit: Sent mine.

<rant angry="yes">

I went to buy the DLC tonight. Not enough funds. Add funds. Card invalid. Update card details. Can't remember PSN password (set in hurry and complicated). Can't reset PSN password. PSN password service down. Can't change card details. Can't buy DLC.

****ing incredible. SONY SORT YOUR ****TY SERVICE STANDARDS OUT.

Tell me about it, I have been trying to help my brother make a new account for his PS3 but the create a new account page is under construction. ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR TWO CONFIRMED WEEKS. I bet its been longer too! Too bad who ever wants to start a new account cannot.

Its fricken pathetic and this is why I'll be getting an X360, fed up with all of the Sony BS/delays/maintenance.

You can take Sony to court individually as the new terms and conditions we (online players) agreed to recently, unless you're one of the few that went through the other process.

If you do win however, how much do you think you can get from it after all lawyer fees?

The first post reminded of when Clarkson read out an email that said "And I don't care if you don't read it."

Actually, I was thinking of that when I posted it. It was the Morris Marina club guy. "I'm going to send an e-mail to the BBC and I don't care if they don't answer it!"

Speaking of which, the central e-mail address to which you can send your complaints if you want them gammar policed and sent to Sony with a nice official looking name in the "from" field is ready. It's gtcletters@hotmail.com and will show up in an inbox as "GT Community Letter Writing Project".

Some surfing around the tuning forum reveals that the DLC cars do indeed have different colors, unless they can be custom-painted (I've seen both a gray CRZ and a blue CRZ in RKM's thread). Also, they have a red Prius (official shot is off-white). I will be raging if my DLC R35, whenever I get it, is in anything but that color-shifty paint seen in the official shot.

Its not Sony fault
PD is now known with GT5 for making questionable decisions they shouldnt have included the DLC cars and tracks in the Update and shouldve made it Downloadable instead.
Im thinking since this is PD first time doing things like this ( not only dlc but stuff like paint chips etc.) they make alot of mistakes and this ( the dlc ) wasnt done on purpose by PD nor Sony.
Thats what I think so who knows maybe they did just want to cash in but, doing it purposely they would have had to know that there would be a big backlash and more than likely alot more people wouldnt buy it.
Which isnt the goal.

@ White&Nerdy
I dont see the problem with the car not being in car dealership now that you have setting sheets.
It basically 3 cars lol well minus the mileage I dont know if it resets on each sheet.

I e-mailed because I don't like how it is implemented. There are many different points, some good some bad. But my opinion is that I don't like it. I want the "DLC" to work just like the other games I have. If it doesn't that is fine, I just won't buy it. I mean all the cars will become free anyways, just like the X2010 and the Stealth cars.

If you don't mind paying more then do so.
If you don't want to pay more than don't buy it and e-mail them.

Bump, tho i only play on one account, i do agree this is ridiculous. Of course there's gonna be finger pointing, but i say both parties ( PD and Sony) are at fault.

Edit: It's almost comical how PD act's like we're dealing with ACTUAL cars when it comes to DLC and trading? I think they need to take a step back into the real world and realize that this is just a video game...It doesn't have to be this complicated.

Just posted this in the DLC petition thread too, but think it would come in handy here too, for the ones continuing to fight Sony:

For the ones having the trouble that it is only for one account, you should all go back to the PS Store to the screen where you bought it. I just bought the DLC and I checked what it said about using it. It clearly states that the DLC content can be used on FIVE registered PS3 systems, in the PS Store there is nothing about it only being available to one account only. Which is just wrong from Sony, so I think that if you would go to court over this (then of course you want to have a large group) you can only win, since it clearly states this download can be used on 5 different PS3 systems. Nothing about it only being valid for one account.

For the ones going through with fighting Sony, good luck and make screens of the PS Store screen of the GT5 DLC where it clearly states that it can be used on 5 PS3 systems.

@High On Speed: If this is true for the US (dunno how it is there, since the DLC is not released yet) you can only win and you should send another email to Sony to explain why they don't tell it in the PS Store, which is just plain wrong and stupid from Sony.

@YuRiPa

If it says 5 PS3 systems, doesn't say anything about using it on another account.
Don't know but you probably ca redownload it on another system with you own account.

I'm not near my PS3 for the next few weeks so I can't check the T&Cs etc, but I'm a little confused by this.

Registered PS3 systems does not equal user accounts. If you're able to use this DLC on 5 individual registered PS3s with one single account then I can't see how this is misleading / incorrect. Nowhere does it say (in what you've provided) you'll be able to use the DLC purchased with one account on another seperate account, be it on the same PS3 or another.

There may be something I'm missing?

Yes its just a game... But its NOT just a few bucks, according to the service rep I spoke to at SONY this might become the "NORMAL" way DLC content is applied for ALL GAMES ON PSN.

I have 4 people who use my PS3 and play most of the games I buy. Myself, my girlfriend and her two early teenage kids. So what you are saying is it is ok for me to buy a game for $60 that has over 20 tracks and over 1000 cars and over 1000 paint colors.... for $60 that all 4 of us can use.

But if I want DLC content for all 4 of us to use I have to pay $48 for 1 Track (cause a cart track is worthless for online play), 15 cars that are for the most part just remakes of existing cars and not anything new (IE Koeningsegg CCX, Ferrari FXX, Gumpert Apollo Race, Ultima GTR, Ariel Atom, and about 30 other GREAT cars I could name off the top of my head), a few paint chips that I can only use ONCE as in ON ONE CAR IN MY GARAGE OF OVER 800.... That is just crap.

4 people eh. you when you have a barbi for you 4 you have to buy 4 steaks, not 1 hoping to get the rest for free.

Tell the kids that gaming is not good for them. Get them a bike or join the local swim club. Go work at McDonald's so they can afford their own DLC if they insist on playing games. You shouldn't have to support the whole family.
