I'm moaning. About the game? No. About the people.

Raced in McClarenDesign's hosted room, and remember seeing Lewis there.. You guys are pretty quick. It was fun racing..

Thanks. I haven't been sleeping well, so I may not be on tonight, but all are welcome to join.

You have to give some of those rooms you don't like a shot. Take my rooms for example. Whenever I host a room, sure, I allow every driving aid, but I make sure it is clean and close. I often make them use a recommended car or pick a car type and prohibit tuning, or when I do shuffle racing, I make the ratio very small so that all the cars are similar PP levels.

Honestly, change you PSN name.

The nail the sticks out the most, get's hit the hardest and with a name like that, you'd stick out in every game you play

You sure you're Australian? You could really pass as a German, "The nail the sticks out..." German repeats the definite article twice, as well. And, considering you're machschnel, it wouldn't surprise me. :sly:

Anyways, I fully agree with this. The "I beat Lewis Hamilton" will never go away.

So, maybe I had an argument with one of the fastest karts drivers in Canada, about him blocking me, and was interviewed for the TV about it... Again, my comments "maybe you're not as fast as your wallet" were based on his fame and notoriety. (He could afford to be on Canada's National karting team. I was invited, but couldn't afford it.)

So, when I proved that I was faster, by beating him :sly:, it was a bigger spectacle than the thousands of other kart racers I beat, because he was so famous. Naming yourself after an F1 driver, unless you ACTUALLY are said F1 driver, will not be beneficial. 👎 It's a shameful part of human nature, but, it's a part of human nature, regardless.

Changing my username is not going to change GT5's entire online population, the way people drive, the rooms people make, or the cars I'm given in shuffle races. It'd be quite awesome if I had that power, but I don't. :sly:

otakukid96: My point is that I have no option but to run in rooms that don't cater to my tastes as that's pretty much all that exists now - at least in the open lounge. I dabble in just about every possible thing that can be done in GT5 (Nascar, drifting, slipstream battles, cruising, drag racing, dirty rooms, and rooms with aids and boost), the one area that I very much prefer is a dead area and I'd love for it to be resurrected.

But, think of it from their perspective: "I idolize F1 drivers. Some day I want to be a Formula 1 Driver! OMG, Lewis Hamilton just joined my GT5 lobby. :nervous: I need to win! I need to prove to the other 14 drivers that I'm world class material! I can put it on my resumé! I can write a book! I can become a millionaire! I have to beat Lewis Hamilton! If I don't win this race, I'll shoot my brains out!"

And, back to a less fan-boy-based English: the people will think that you're the real deal, whether you are, or not, and, beating someone with a name, a face, and an F1 contract is so much better than beating some bloke in Dorset.

I'm fully aware that I look both elitest and like an arrogant cock...

It's not that you are or appear as an "arrogant cock," it's that large segments of adult humanity are selfish, self-absorbed ignoramuses. Worse than that, they're completely oblivious to the fact that they are this way. If you then reduce the age of that pool, you add immaturity to the mix. And while being selfish, self-absorbed and ignorant is a shameful state, immaturity is natural part of a young human's life.

You can find this is ordinary, everyday life, not just in games. People driving real cars, not just in a driving game. Driving with their fog lights on during a warm Summer's day because "it looks cool". Drivers refusing to give way to pedestrians because "nah, you saw me comin', so I didn' haf'ta". Young women spraying half a can of hairspray into their hair on a crowded train to the point that the fumes make it hard for others to tolerate the confines of the carriage. Grown, healthy men beating elderly people and pregnant women to the disabled seats on a train. Complete and utter amateurs in a relation to a given topic telling individuals, who specialise in the field, have devoted years to its research, and have several degrees in the field, "evolution's just a theary an theirs 2 meny gaps. Wat about tha banana!!!!!!!? noob. Lol."

These people are, I believe, not making a rational decision of their interests over others' and deciding to go ahead with their actions anyway; the equation just doesn't appear in their heads. And it's as if being in a vehicle only amplifies these traits as being anonymous online does too.

It seems simple: If you want to race "exotic" room settings etc., you'll have a hard time finding enough people, especially good and clean drivers. But if you race what everyone else does, you'll be able to choose between several rooms and a lot of people, giving you a good chance to find good and clean racing.

I'll agree boost and all aids allowed will usually not be a good room. But I personally see the better drivers driving racing softs, abs on, a common PP level like 500 or 550 and on a popular track, simply because they will find good racing there, every evening.

I used to always try to find a good public lobby just for a good race but it's always hard.
Quite honestly, the only real solution i found was just joining a few online race leagues in this forum.

Do you know of a lil' old place called the GTP Chatroom?
We often organize a few games spontaneously (not just GT5 at that), you should drop by.

Your right where all hiding in our lounges with all our friends because the community has gone the wrong way in the past few months especially over the summer

That was expected when the price drop was announced.
