Hello, I'm new here. I don't have a PS2 yet but from what I read, I've got a bit worried. I have a few questions about GT3.

Does going without oil for long periods affect the car permanently?

When a car has a lot of mileage, does it lose horsepower, and if so, is it permanent? Does it keep going down, or does it stop at a certain point?

And, is it possible to have 2 of the same car, such as having 2 polyphony 001 cars, or 3, 4, 5 etc. by winning the same race over and over and over again?

Also, I wish mileage didn't count in arcade mode!

By the way, I'm from New Zealand (PAL Land).
Paddy.

I think milleage doesn't interfear with horse power. Only bugs could cause that...

You could have two or more of the same car...

If you race in arcade mode with a car from your garage, milleage will count.

Welcome to GTP, Paddy!

First - no, the oil light only means that you need to change your oil. I've had to run the last few races of a few series with that light on, and all my horsepower comes back when the oil is changed. Sometimes I even have a few extra horses if the car is new enough! (They break-in, if you hadn't noticed).

Second - yes, eventually a car will begin to lose horsepower. It takes a TON of miles and the loss is not significant. It's also a one time event. I have several dozen cars in my garage and only two or three of them have lost power. That's usually because they would stomp the other cars in a few different races. :D

I didn't know that. Now I understand why my Polyphony001 had loosed some BHP (I thinked it was a bug).

does the most it loses is like 20 then it stops
by the way has anyone ever ran a test on how long for oil changes see how far it goes before oil light
like i believe an f1 is around 200ish
someone try the pitz
and i think the real life 3000 miles is because we aint as hard on our engines

Does it take a while to buy parts for cars? I know in GT2, it'll take you like 20 minutes to buy all of the parts you need if you have a new car. I can't stand that. Also, is there a lot of loading time between menus, like say you finish a race and you want to go switch your car, do you have to wait while to get back to yoru garage?

cars do loose some horsepower after alot of miles but some of it comes back after an oil change but not all of it and yes it is prmenant and no you can't keep getting the same car by doing the race over and over again unless your doing a series race:D :D :D :D

Paddy, man, go get your PS2 and GT3 today. The people here know everything there is to know about everything. But be careful, GT3 can be addicting, very addicting!

Yes, don't make plans for the next few weeks after you get your PS2 and GT3 ;)

haha
k, The car will permanently lose a small fraction of it's horsepower, it just happens, there's nothing you can do about it, no matter how much you change the oil. However, once it's lost that small fraction, the hp will stay there, and drop only when the oil is dirty

eg: The escudo topped out has like.. 1877 ish horsepower
after doing wheelies for about 20 laps, the horsepower dropped below 1800, change the oil, the hp goes back up to 1843, but that's as high as it will ever go, however, if i don't change the oil, the horsepower will drop, but when i change the oil, the horsepower will get back to 1843

(i know that was confusing, try and make a tiny bit of sense out of it(

I think you lose about 2-3% of bhp when you reach about 500 km mileage...

When you first purchase a car, and perform an oil change, you gain HP. After a "breaking-in" period, the engine also gains HP. Once the engine has been run for a significant amount of miles, it will lose a slight amount of HP. However, you will average a net gain in HP. That is to say, the HP gain from the oil change and breaking-in are greater than the HP loss from excessive mileage.

ppl make too much of a fuss over lost HP.... whats 13hp?

try improving you driving skills and HP wont matter so much to you.
well thats what i do. :)

However, the cars that you can win never have a break in period, thay have a higher bhp figure from the start.
