This is a serious problem. Both for you, Wall and me. My dad thinks that I'm wasting my life browsing through bunch of text. I've explained to him but he does not believe me. I've come close to being banned by him a few times. So I understand how you feel, Wall. Even though you won't be on this site and IM anymore, I'll still like to say this: you were a great guy and we'll miss you greatly. :(
 
I say we make a formal email petition to Chris' dad, complete with a copy of (and link to) the AUP.

I'm still full of responses to Chris' dad.

Really, Chris has a better chance of being shot in the real world than being physically harmed on the internet. He has a higher chance of picking up on foul language and crude humor in the real world, where moderation can only be done to an extent, than he does on here. He has a better chance of going out and getting into some girl's pants than seeing nudity on GTPlanet. He could go out and meet some friends and go shoplift or do drugs, but can he very well do that here? Nope.

Come on Chris' dad. Let Chris stay :).

Thank you Jarrett. Seriously, most of the rapes and things like that are because the kid is stupid. I'm not saying Chris is stupid, but maybe that his dad is doing the right thing but his reasoning is incorrect. This is hard to explain but bear with me.


If you keep your real last name, adress, and phone number off the internet, not to mention being smart about what you download and install, you can basically be safe on the Net. However, there are so many kids out there who have the typical teen "invincible attitude" and they think it won't happen to them.

So basically, what I'm trying to say is that maybe Chris's dad should try more about TEACHING Chris what to look at and what not to look at and also help him understand what things are appropriate to put on the Internet. Now, I'm sure Chris knows these things, but his dad would feel better.

My reasoning for the above? Simple: If Chris wants to get on the Internet so bad, he can go to other people's houses or the library or get on at school. Unless his dad is a social retard, he won't keep his son from going to other people's houses, and what dad would say "You can't go to the library", and same for school.

Sorry for the rant. I understand how hard this can be. You'll just have to prove to your dad that you are responsible enough to make the right decisions to be on the Internet.

I give it a month or two at the most before the dad doesnt control it so much. And doesnt chris have friends? who are not monitored by his dad? You can access GTP from other peoples computers...
 
5 years before he turns 18. That's a long time. He'll have a lot of reading to do if he wants to read all the reactions to his last thread.
I really felt bad reading he won't be on GTP anymore. We'll miss him!!
 
That's too bad Chris, sorry to hear that.

I hope you get to visit GTP again, and I hope you can either convince yow Poppa or either make a deal with him :lol:
