555 you know, some say so, some say so. The reviews are not too good, they've never been in the Tokyo Xtreme Racer history. Nevertheless it's my favorite racing game for the 360 and I have all of the, apart from TDU...didn't like the demo...
As Intergra Type R said, if you know the series and like it, then buy it. If you are new, then rent it first : And never forget, that ITC starts out slowly, the real fun and addiction comes after a few hours of gameplay : Gotta catch'em all ;)

can someone please post some pics of the intiors with the rollcage and all the aftermarket guages etc been looking but cant find any:(

Couldn't find pics... but then again... look at this interior :

Now you have 5 spots for gauges in every car. Two on the A-part of the roof/window ( right between "Twister and 72 km/h) and 3 in the middle, above the current gauges in this 350 Z. It's up to you how you place your gauges.
The rollcage is visible on the Top and again on the A-part of the roof/window...
So the gauges at that spot would be placed on the cage...

hired it out, awsome game apart from the fact that the first team you race is full of truenos and yet you cant even get one (you know what i mean) and the fact that thers only 18 cars! I thought i would be able to see past this but i dont think i can...it's a sad day:(

Once you get further in the game, the number of cars doesn't really make a difference.

That's how I see it aswell. Sure it would be nice to have a larger variety, but in the end you can't buy more than like 4 fully tuned cars anyway ( well, you can play through the story mode a second time of course ), so if you like Japanese cars in general, you'll find many nice cars...

Also, whenever there's a ton of cars in a game, everyone complains that 90% of them are useless.

This game lacks the useless cars, and focuses on the 10% of cars that aren't.

The games teletext page on Ch4 only gave this 3/10! i sometimes agree with what they say, but often think they are quite snobby. But i think as much as i want to get this am sure i'll like Carbon more when that's out.
Plus i really didn't like tokyo extreme, whatever it was called on the Dreamcast.

Yeah the reviews are all bad or mediocre at best. Still for me it is the racing game on the 360 I had most fun with (PGR3,NfSMW,RR6). Same with Kaido Battle games, they never got more than 6 or 7/10, yet they belong to my favorites. The carbon demo was very average imo... it seems that you eithe rlove Genki racing games or you hate them...

Carbon demo was the worst thing I've ever played. Calling it average is offensive.

I entirely agree with the "Love it or hate it" comment.

I've played every single GRP game since TXR2 and loved every single one :D

this is the first genki game i dont really like. I would love it and buy it of you could get the treuno it's just torcher racing it but not being able to buy it.

Rent it before you buy it. As a fan of the series, this game was a let down. It's not bad, but it's not up to par with the other TXR games IMO.

I would buy it if, like me you must have guages(aftermarket defi,Hks etc) and/or incar view. If it had more cars(the trueno and MR2) this would be a must buy, for anyone who even remotely likes cars...

Is this game any good? Are the physics different than Tokyo Xtreme racer games?

I think the physics improved as well the steering in general. It's no diehard sim, but it's also no Nfs. Understeer, oversteer, drifting etc feels really natural and realistic most of the time.
I noticed that in comparison to Shutokou Battle 01 the handling of the cars is much more precise and therefor I think this game is the best in the series os far.

The graphics are not on par with PGR ( pop ups, certain building textures, but the game runs very smoothly and the cars incl. all the mods look awesome. I even like the car models more than the one of PGR, they look more natural not as much like plastic...

As described above I think it is the best game of series.

Car & track variety

VS

improved graphics and handling I guess...

Btw I own the japanese version AND the western version now. Bought it for 30 on Ebay and I still love it... I would play it at this very minute if my 360 wasn't at MS for "repair"( I guess its easier for them to send me a new one though )...

Anyone still playing this game?

I bought Import Tuner Challenge 3 days ago, together with the Xbox360 Forza 2 Bundle :)

I raced two times an Xbox Live TIME ATTACK on Track Shibuya and both times the Xbox freezed on "connecting to True Skill" or something like that. Had to shut it down completely. Is this a common problem or is that just on my game/xbox?

Everythin else works fine. I even tried an online SP Battle, but i had no chance with my nearly stock 180SX against a fully tuned Skyline R34 :(

I'm a big TXR fan, so I liked this game a lot. The fact that it is on 360 gives you the custom soundtrack and hard drive space. Also, the gameplay and graphics are the best in series.

However, I still think 3 is the best in the series. This game has 1 city, and really not that much highway to drive on. Also, while it started out difficult, about 15% in I got a car that dominated every race. Its still addicting but...

Right now I'm at about 40%, after renting it 3 days ago. I have a skyline that is 2900 lbs and has 620 HP. The game is still pretty easy, but I'm still going because its fun.
