Nice video and great run.
Seems there's so much time between shifts though and would think that he could lose another couple of tenths with quicker shift times.

Well that was only the 3rd pass on that setup, he's managed to go 9.25@15xmph and will most likely go much faster than that once it's fully dialed in.

Routing the wastegate dump through the hood is awesome.

 at the guy's face. "Wat?"

That sounds really good for a steel-body FWD car. The Focus I showed earlier, I think, is mostly fiberglass.

Carbon fiber, actually. Was built for the Pro-FWD class that somehow never really went anywhere... full tube frame cars a bit like the Pro Street classes, except with the front wheels being driven instead of the rear ones. :p

Why would you drag an FWD car when the dynamics aren't as kind on acceleration as RWD cars?

Why wouldn't you? FFs aren't as much of a handful off the line. How is RWD more kind, if a RWD gets off the line sideways (which commonly happens) the race is usually already lost.
Their's not near as many FF crashes as theirs RWD.

steel-body FWD car.
Civics have aluminium bodies, and judging by the pic (can't see a sunroof, so I don't 'think' its an SI) its an HX or DX coupe which hardly weighs over 2200lbs from the factory.
Thats 5-600lbs lighter than the production Focus hatch.

Dude, you know what I meant: stock-bodied, as in, they could have taken that body straight off the production line. And what's this about about it being aluminum? I know for sure I've seen them rusting.

and the focus I had was a tube-frame fiberglass-bodied FWD dragster. I don't remember what it ran, but I could guess it was in the eights or sevens...

I've just been busy, is all. I had a spare minute, and wanted to feel semi-nostalgic, so I logged in at work. ;)

Well you should do it more often. I found a guy in town with a set of RC's, plus a bunch of other rims that he seems to switch up on a monthly basis. He's basically a wheel whore too (only guy in town too from what I can tell), made me wonder what ever happened to you and the Civic.
Welcome back man. 👍

The Civic is doing just fine. I've had it out for 2 auto-x events this year (was anticipating more, but ran into rather catastrophic coolant issues no thanks to a part from K-Tuned). I placed 12/20 on my first (ever) event, and 6/12 on the second event. Unfortunately, going up against guys who've been doing this for years doesn't help. One of the competitors in my class took first at nationals for Front Wheel Drives. Cool chap, though, he was kind enough to talk about cars with me. The guy behind me in the line-up also placed at nationals, and he even confronted me about my tire setup (since he drives an '06 STi and works at Acura in Brookfield). He was amazed to see that my tires were just as wide as his, and still fit on my car. ;) Anyways, enough rambling, here's a fairly current picture of my car to stay "on-topic".
