Until you go off the track and hit something and they break, causing more damage in the process.

As if a name brand wheel is indestructible

If you go off the track and hit something, sounds like you're pretty screwed anyway.

EDIT: Of course, this argument will never end, but whether or not the real things are stronger is not opinion.

This argument will never be relevant because majority of people buying cast wheels would careless what a fan boy thinks. Its their money + their car > some kid naysaying.

Not really.

Relevant, yes, but will people care? Not really.

I've made up my mind that I won't try to make people at least realize why I feel the way I do about knockoffs, much less agree with me.

I won't be supporting those companies.

Most of the class shattered Rota pictures are from wheels that were poweder coated, in which the heating for that modifies the grain sizes in the metal.
To what extent, exactly, does a wheel need to be heated in the powder coating process? To change the grain structure of a material you would have to heat it to the point of recrystallization. For most aluminum alloys that temperature is usually around 600 F.

I really like those tail lamps, they have to be custom made though since I don't think there are any lights out for the R56's yet.

Does anyone have any better photos of the old MCR GTR?(Whether or not it was a different car or just the same car but with different modifications is beyond me) I used to have a few but I accidentally deleted them when I was cleaning up my computer.

Here are the only ones I found.

The one bellow was during the making of Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 where the car was featured.

The reasoning behind my friend's placement, and necessity for the different tach is thus: Since it is directly connected to the ECU it has a much more accurate reading than the standard "smooth-sweep" gauge cluster of modern cars. His placement is to avoid detection in a street situation, either by other, ah, "performance enthusiasts" we'll call them, or authorities. He doesn't like to thrash his baby (And it is, there's somewhere around $60k invested here), but he likes to keep a very close eye to how it is performing. 👍

Cheers,
Jetboy
Why would they care? It's not illegal in your state, is it?

And how on earth do you invest $60,000 into a Sentra?

You'd think the other 6 or so gauges would give the performance away long before they saw the big tach.

EDIT: I've seen some DSMs with about 25-30k invested in them, and they had over 500hp (built to hold 900, the 500+ was at 30psi and limited by the turbo itself.) with full wilwood brakes and ssr wheels, stripped interior with seats and foam filled chassis.

How do you spend 60k?

EDIT #2: Or if you want to stick with Nissan, you can almost buy a GT-R for that much.

Or an E39 M5 and an NA1 NSX. And the E39 would probably be faster from a stop light in the real world.
That too.

I hope this Sentra puts down a lot of power. Because it's sounding a lot like a local Acura CL owner who claims to have invested the same amount of money & only makes 440whp with his supercharger.

Not really...

These are pics of my friend's Sentra SE-R Spec-V.
Modifications include: QR25 Turbocharged with a 50- (or 60-?) trim turbo on 16 pounds of boost, single-piece front-mount, six-speed swap, ECU re-mapped, Full 3" Exhaust, 18" Rays rims mounted on Nitto tires, and Carbon Fibre of the following: Hood, Trunk, side skirts, Greddy front lip/underbody kit, mirrors, some interior panels (what ones aren't NISMO) and muffler. It generates about 335 horsepower to the front wheels. These are the pics from Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Considering we have a guy with less invested into an E46 M3 making over 600 WHP...

I can buy an '09 AMG C63 with $60k and walk on a M3, or M5 for that matter. Probably smash on a Marci or Gallardo I've been seing around town here and there.
All that and still capable of toting my lady and three friends comfortably and safely.., Its such a practical supercar in disguise.

Lol, yeah you got me there. Shes nimble, but a tail happy handful at the track.
AMG powah :scared:

Its not that bad though really, its a decent track car but the M3 will slip away from it on its worst day.
Thats 300lbs and 2 doors less going through the corners lol.

Couldn't have said it more effectively.

The Mercs of today look awesome, sound awesome, and have some awesome performance firgures, but why oh why do they have to make them such bad handlers? Fine - you bought an SL600 to cruise and to have rediculous power and torque, but they never let the AMG versions off the chain either? The electronics are too nannying. I don't know why - the torque probably - I know the 55 blower made rediculous amounts as does the 63 and 65 (this is why we get the auto 'box) but I just don't see why they don't have an option to turn everything off.....except on the Blacks.

I love the M3s way more for this reason. They don't have as much power, but they are sooo more exploitable, and the ones above are just win.

Joey - you're pulling out some great stuff too - the recent Mini as well as the ones a few pages ago all look awesome. 👍

The problem with AMG is that while they can make some outrageous things with all these huge figures, like the S63 & what not, they've got the Bavarians who can build a car just as fast without needing to even let the ///M Division touch it. The 7 Series doesn't need to have a M model, it's quick on its own accord as shown by Top Gear. And as James pointed out, BMW can at least keep the car directed in 1 direction while Mercedes throws on these things you normally shouldn't be finding on such cars.

I have a respect for AMG cars, but they go a little too far with their creations.

I like that about them though - the fact you have a sonking (but admittedly detuned) 6.2L V8 in a small saloon is what I love about them. What I hate is the fact is they shoot themselves in the foot by not making them as driveable (quickly) as the M3s. The M3 is a pretty pure sports car when it wants to be. The AMG isn't.

I think the swear filter just exploded.

Anyway to lighten the mood and get us back on track...

From the "DO WANT" file.

haha, you should see this car in person. The owner of the Z is a friend of mine, as well as the owner of the gold 240sx in the background (the 240sx has a corvette engine)

If you want an LS1 swap kit for your 240sx go to his website...get at me if you want a link to his site

I think you mean the other way round. The 575 was like a hardcore version of the 550, it definitly looked more aggressive than the 550:

550:

575:
2004.ferrari.575m.33030-396x249.jpg

I always saw the 575 as a more rounded shape than the 550, and the front grille is less agressive (it's more like a Guppy fish than The Joker's grin, if you like).

And the 575 certainly wasn't the hardcore version of the 550. It may have made more power, but just about every road test everywhere was disappointed with the handling (and the sound) compared to the 550 as they'd made it softer. The GTC (or Fiorano pack) was a package that Ferrari rushed out when they realised they'd cocked up the regular 575 (Autocar and Evo reviews of the "improved" 575s... both comment on the 575 not being that good).

So I meant what I said ;) The only thing I'd take the 575 over the 550 for was the later interior. I mean... it's academic anyway as I'll probably never be able to afford to run either, but you know what I mean...

Thanks for correcting me HFS 👍

Fred, what car is that? It looks like a Chaser and an EVO at the same time

DuelL AG, they are a Japanese MINI tuning company that really needs to sell parts in the US. They have some pretty cool stuff.

IDK, maybe it's just a personal thing but I just don't like them. Good thing the stock tach in my car goes to 9k so I don't have to get an aftermarket one when I do my motor swap. 👍
