Somebody tell me for sure so I can get over my prejudice: Is the SR20DET a reliable engine? For some reason I'm of the impression that they spin bearings, overheat, and generally blow up pretty much every other day.

That would be partly down the the fact that they are being asked to produce way more power than a 4 pot can realistically give.

Daikoku is in Yokohama yeah, about 1.5hrs from Tokyo. I just spent two weeks in Japan, the last page makes me miss the country so much, it's sick!!

I was there exactly this time last year, and I feel exactly the same as you! I didn't even get to go Daikoku PA, but still got to see so much amazing machinery. Photos are linked in my sig for anyone interested.

Is a 4 pot, a 4 cylinder engine? If so thats an unrealistic and an uninformed statement...:odd:

That car should be in the encyclopedia under, "How to make an ugly car look awesome."

Ohh come off it.

I don't care about you and your V-TEC antics - thats a different engine to an SR20.

The amount of times I have spoken to SX drivers at events who have dumped an RB26 or a 2JZ is because they can handle the power a lot better for a lot longer, without blowing much/anything forms my opinion, and you can't change it with any evidance you give. Sorry.

Indeed. While there are a good few 1000+hp 4 cylinders out there... How long do they last? Can you make that 1000hp long enough for a Bonneville run? Etc etc

I'll throw in a couple of cars from my club.

The black evo 3 with the red bonnet is still getting fully sorted, but had done mid 11's down the quarter, and has a really, REALLY clean engine bay.

Down the road, mine's getting that swap too. 1.3 litres of 75 bhp fury doesn't quite cut it.. About 250 bhp before work would. Interesting to see it's a Mirage though, they were sold through AUS dealers or is this one a Japanese import?

Not sure about AUS mate, different country :p

They sold them as Mirages in NZ, I'm pretty sure. I'd assume this one is a Japanese import though. Not a hundred percent, but this particular car used to be a 1.6 NA, did have factory 4wd though. Now it's got a VR4 4g63, TD06 and a buch of other stuff.

Doh, my mind slipped there.. It's okay, you can call me a Swede.. :D
Didn't know the C50s were available in AWD guise, you learn something new every day. VR4s are hard to come by in Cyprus but early Evos are a dime a dozen :)

What the hell was that?! I find your comment a bit offensive buddy! You better stop there.

Who talked about V-TEC engines? There are at least 10 engines that could hold 1000HP+ (of corse Honda engines are there too:sly:)!
Your statement is pointless when saying a 4 cylinder cant hold much power.

For the record i sure dont care about you or your V8s or V6s either buddy:odd:!

Horde, give it a rest and stop turning everything into an arguement.

80Y's statement was generally correct. Big amounts of power from a relatively small four-cylinder like that found in the Silvia (in fact, relatively small any number of cylinders) engines puts a lot of stress even on upgraded components. Sure, there are small 4-cyls putting out a lot of horsepower, but don't make the mistake of assuming that they have anywhere near the longevity of either a lowly-tuned 4-cyl or a much bigger engine of equivalent power.

Holding a 1000 hp and holding a 1000 hp with any kind of longevity are two different things...

Speaking of 1000 hp 2 litres. This powers the worlds quickest late model Evo.

And this thing is awesome. It looks pretty much factory.

What is that hatchback thing with the Evo front end? It's pretty cool.

It's a Mirage/Colt. To my knowledge, they share a platform with the Evo, which makes swaps like that quite popular. I remember reading about one years ago with Evo II running gear.

The interior on them is very similar to the Evo IV/ V/ VI too.

What's the deal with the two different bumpers? They're almost the same but not quite. The top vents, side scoops, and lips are different but the middle section is the same. And the car looks almost identical too.

Two different events, two different bumpers? He's a drifter (by the looks) so he probably changes bumpers like underwear.

EDIT: Or buddies?

They look like buddies to me. The cars have different numbers on the windshield. Either way, why would you want a car that looks almost identical to your friend's?

Basically, Lancers built until 1982 were true Lancers, after that they were Mirage based. The Mirage was sold both as a hatchback and in some generations as a four-door alongside the Lancer. The 4G63 bolts in in all cars after 1987 atleast, but in '95 the gearbox was relocated to the other side of the engine, so the 6th gen Colt pictured needs a 4G63 from an Evo IV or later, the engine from the Evo II is useless on this one.

Damn I'm a nerd sometimes.. :)

same car, same everything but body kit. My buddy is a drifter and his front bumper gets mangled every event so he has spares or different kits.

That guy better keep that GT-R in the garage before the Feds come looking for it.

I see the Work Emotion 11r's are finally getting out into the car world. Those wheels are high on my list of choices when I finally get around to buying wheels, so it's nice to actually see what they look like on cars with low offsets.
