I was noticing a few of the videos and also the GT5TT demo, and I noticed the clocks... I was thinking that likely, they would be working in GT5... what do you guys think?

Well I do not know but I hope they do and I know Turn 10 linked a couple of in car clocks to the xbox dashboard time so PD should easily be able to do it. Just a matter of them bothering to putting it in.

Yeah... the thing is that PD already has GT5P linked to the PS3's clock.... It wouldn't take up that much resources... I just think that it would be a little ackward to be driving a Nissan 370Z in the game and it always says 5:22 (i think thats what it says in the demo)

It must have crossed their minds, with the number of people complaining about the clock in the 370z in the Time trial demo.

A few problems would be that if you played at night when you get back from school/work/ whatever you do, you'll never be able to race a day time race in the game, assuming the clock corresponds to the time of day. Another problem would be online playing, because if you have different people in different time zones playing eachother, there clocks would all be different, yet it would be the same time of day in the game.

So no I don't think PD will have clocks that work, only ones that stay at the same time of day that the track was modeled at.

I'm hoping that they are working in GT5.

I've noticed frozen clocks & temperature guages on a few cars, I just assumed this must be whatever was displayed when PD was taking their interior pictures of the cars as they are all different times & temps.

You could have the clock at Standard world time like the time on GT Planet but it would be a fair point to have the clock changing as the time the track is being modeled so you know if the sun is coming up or going down.

Hasn't it already been stated that the lighting of the tracks and cars is always set on a cloudless day with the sun at its brightest?

I don't think it would make any difference if I was in the uk & you were in the us racing each other online as I wouldn't be able to see your clock during the race, just as I can't see your rev counter and speedo.

If we do get online race replays in the main game then I imagine that they could set any internal clocks to the local time of your ps3 with relative ease.

Would just be nice so I can see the real time and not have to get my phone out to check the time but thats just probably me because I am lazy:dopey:.

it says 5:32, and it bothers me that it doesn't change

but why must the time of the day in-game be the same as the real time?? i don't care if it says 10:40 pm and it's sunny in the race, i just care that it says the real time, yes, it's not so realistic, but it's better than living in a paused world :P there are a few games that have dashboard working clocks, like live for speed

There was some speculation in another thread that the 5:32 is in reference to something. It's gotta be the NA release date, guys, May 32nd, it makes perfect sense.

lol, Your definitely on to something there, but I think what they really meant ways May, 2032.

If there are day / night cycles then an in game clock is a must so you know when it's about to get dark or light.

This may be scaled time perhaps, so may not match to any real world clock.

I find the GT PSP clock handy too, so am hoping it's in, and displays somewhere on the view without the cockpit.

The 24hr Nurburgring will still need to be 24hrs long, time must still be relative or else we'll end up running a 48hr race over 24hrs if I've understood you correctly :ouch:

Time on the clock may have to mimic time of day (I would rather it was the actual time of day though) as you will have night or day time races, as long as the clock's actually doing something ie; not frozen in time.

OK, so the clock would be good for 24hr races etc, but suppose your driving a Toyota GT One race car, is it going to have a clock in it?

The driver could wear a watch.
A watch? Seriously? Why aren't there just... no clocks in a car with no clocks? Is it really that difficult a concept to grasp?

"I'm constantly taking corners at 100mph... time to check the time on my watch..."

Agreed 👍

PD could always do something like Burnout paradise

Go to your room and don't come back out until you know what you've done wrong

Not if it doesn't have one in real life :indiff:

You are the driver, wear a watch if you want to :sly:

After seeing so many games with non functioning secondary dials and displays I wouldnt bank on a working dash clock everything will just be frozen at the time PD shot the car.

Robin.

Why not have the Grandfather's ol' clock on the passenger seat? It would also balance the weight distribution.

well gtpsp tells you the time while playing so it shouldn't be very hard to copy the ps3 time to the dashboard:tup:👍👍👍

Not bothered about telling the time from the game (but it would be nice if the car has one), I would just like the clock to be functioning, otherwise it makes it look unrealistic or broken.
