I can't drift! Haha, I use the setups but I can't control cars when drifting. Maybe someone can give me some pointers ?

When do I use throttle? How much? Counter-steer? HELP!

Try to keep the car at a certain angle. Then, just modulate between the throttle and the countersteer. When you understeer, step on the throttle harder. When you oversteer, then countersteer more.

Try to watch some drift videos that are out here in the forum :) It may help you more about how to control the car more when in drift.

My problem right now is drifting the AE86 not S.S. I always oversteer or I always don't have enough speed to make the turns. Does anyone have the ULTIMATE setting so I can experiment?

LOL, no ultimate settings?!
NOOOOOO

BTW, there are settings for that car on the webpage I linked above. They are not the ultimate settings of course, but there is also a video demonstrating how to drive it from inside the car. Might help you learn.

ASM off for drifting. ALWAYS. Same with TCS.

ASM is a system that applies brakes as wheels start to lose grip in order to prevent the car from sliding. 'nuff said.

TCS is similar but backs off the throttle if your rear tires start to lose traction.

With both systems on, as soon as you start drifting you will lose power and the brakes will come on attempting to bring you out of the drift.

Get a stock car with sims, 1 on stabilizers, 0 ASM, 0 TCS and just practice with that... gradually change settings to your liking... use the S13 or 86 if you have yet to accomplish a good drift...

Ok, but just to make it clear since other people seem to make the same mistake, STOCK MEANS NO modifications. Tires however can be bought, and the ar would still be considered stock.

K, rather than makin a whole new topic i thought i'd just jump this one :O

Anyway, i was wondering how long it takes to get used to sims? Im learning in my RX-7 Infini tuned to about 280hp with sims, but i find they're waaaaay too slippy to control. How long did it take u guys to get used to sims?

dude, get a fd and put sims on it and turn the tcs and asm off thats it

Dont just go for huge drifts first. slowly work yourself up, starting with small drifts then slowly working up. Also try to drift for a little bit den bring it back then drift for a little bit longer and bring it back keep doing that, increasing everytime. Thats what i did and it worked perfectly!

My drift car is a fully tuned S13 2000cc

- Minimum spring rates, front and rear
- Minimum ride height, front and rear
- Maximum Brake Balance, front and rear
- Stock gear ratios
- No TCS
- ASM Set to 8

It should smoke the tires through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. Use one of those to start the drift. If it is a long turn (like the one on Tokyo R246), start it in 4 if you can.

BTW I drift in automatic, never tried it in manual.
