OK - I seem to be among the few people who actually like the GT4 soundtrack.
I like it so much, that I went to great lengths to put it on CD. This involved downloading software and codec's, ripping all the music from the GT4 disc, converting it to MP3, then burning it to CD.
Why?
Well, two reasons.
1: So I can listen to it in RL, when working or in my car. I find that some of the tracks are very good.
2: So I can listen to it when I'm racing in GT4.
Sound weird? Well, it's like this:
I've never put the music on in GT4 for the fundamental reason that I can't turn it off. There's no toggle switch in the race! Why couldn't they just put in a pause menu option for Christ's sake! This means if I get sick of it, if I need to concentrate hard, or for some other reason, I'm stuck with the damn music until I finish the race. So, what to do? Well, how about I pop the CD I made into my stereo? OK. Now when I'm sick of the music, or don't like the song I can grab the remote and stop it, or alternatively find a song that I do like and play that.
I think it would have been so much better if they'd have just put an option in the pause menu. You can do it in the replay - circle will turn the music on and off - why not put something similar in the race? Is it that hard?!
Anyway, I enjoy my GT4 music an alternate way to the way PD had planned, and as an added bonus I can listen to it when I please, or more importantly, no listen to it when I want.
Can you imagine doing a 24hour race with the music on, and getting sick of it by hour 3?
One more thing: I can't drive without the engine sound - never know when to change gears, and there's no way I'm driving an auto...
