Cover story for this months Game Informer is Infamous (Game looks freaking awesome)
- "Infamous begins with a serene, panoramic skyview view of EMpire City on the title screen, with the words "press start flashing". ..once you push start, a massive explosion rips through the heart of the city. Six city blocks are consumed by flame...in the center, a man named Dylan staggers to his feet."
- Dylan doesn't know how he got his powers and starts out apathetic. He then becomes invested in the city...or you can choose not to be at all.
- Dylan can run up rooftops, scrambles across building architecture, and can seek cover in unlikely nooks and crannies.
- Sucker Punch striving for simple controls to do not so simple things
- Empire City has 3 islands
- After the explosion, the city falls into chaos. A plague makes the govt. quarentine the city. Gangs are formed.
- Dylan's abilities evolve throughout the game
- One fight saw Dylan and his friend Zeke against a bunch of guard. A couple of choices include zapping the mobs and flinging them off the bridge, or using your electricity on the environment (i.e. power generators that may be nearby) to create explosions.
- Sucker Punch says "The hero's powers and the storyline are in support of the gameplay."
- Dylan cannot use firearms since his powers are "always on" (meaning he would set off the gunpowder in bullets). The powers can complicate your actions within the world.
- There will be other "villians" with their own powers that come into play. As well as other normal enemies with powers.
- - Infamous isn't structured like other open world games with a marker on the mini map for your next mission. The team's goal is to create a world where events unfold naturally.
- For example, you're on your way to disarm a bomb, but you notice a woman in the street bleeding and screaming. Time is ticking. What do you do? Your actions affect the world at large. Hence "Infamous".
- Karma system keeps track of your actions ( I assume without showing you? Not sure). Your actions affect the actions of the citizens of the city. They may fight with you or ignore you or even help fight against you. Karma also factors into how your abilities develop.

Just saw on Gamespot live coverage one of the dev's showing off this (maybe overlooked) PS3 exclusive, First impressions I get from it is that its just like the Heroes TV series..... you play as a guy who suddenly finds he has superpowers and in this case he has electrical powers.

Its set in a post apocalyptic comic book style city which has like gang problems etc and you can use your powers for good or evil... you really have to see it to get it.

I loved the way when they asked the dev which platform and he said Playstation 3 exclusive because this game has a lot of stuff going on and needs a HDD (little nock at 360 there).

Trailer - http://uk.gamespot.com/video/942025/6174750/infamous-official-trailer-1

I will try and get the Gamespot walkthrough vid when they upload it because that best shows and explains the game. I have to say looks interesting but it could be slighly iffy if its not done right. Its coming spring 09.

Looks good, I heard about this from going on a game-trailer-downloading-spree  Also found Dead Space this way. Sucker Punch is going to be one of the bigger PS3-exclusive developers methinks.

The character (who is apparently named Cole now instead of "Dylan"?) feels really light and jittery when walking, but overall this game looks kinda cool. I still don't think i'll pick it up on release day, though.

But for those who are interested, it's $54 on Amazon.com with available free shipping. And i've also heard that downloading the demo earns you a costume in Home.

I LOVED the demo, I'll be getting this when it's out.

What? I didn't know there was a demo out for this game! I am going to definately give it a try before I make a full commitment to buy this game.

I just watched the video review of the game on Gamespot and it sure does impress me. Hopefully this demo I will download soon will be the final saying in my choice.

I hope this game won't turn out like Assasin's Creed once you play longer into the game. AC was fun until it got very repetitive...

This game seems way different than Assassin's Creed. The world is much more expansive and interactive, and there are more than just the 3 combos in the combat system.

Yeah, the demo was pretty cool. The interaction between the environment is still a little weird though. The movement's not exactly fluid.

Played around with the demo last night and got to say that I am pretty interested in the game. This is like a faster paced Assasin's Creed with mutant powers. I love the damages you can do to the envorinment! Blowing up a line of parked cars to kill a bunch of baddies is pure BADASS! (watch out for innocents unless you want want to be evil yourself).

Think I will play some more to see if I really want it or rent it first.

I watched the IGN video review and I am convinced that this will be one of my favorites on the PS3.

i'm still struggling to decide if i should get this or Prototype. They both have very similar ideas and game-play styles. So far Prototype seems pretty bad-ass with all those crazy powers compared to the electricity based ones, but the Story in Infamous might pan out a little better. If the game is like that, the comic book style story telling would be a nice touch IMO. We shall see when the time comes. If there is a demo i will definatley check it out tonight.

I agree. I would like this game, but it's a bit too odd. Plus no guns. I like and dislike a few things about it.

I hate one thing about it, though. The guy moves too quick for my tastes. I definitely feel pukey while playing. Plus, I don't understand how he can climb a building, but can't climb a simple chain-link fence. Lame. I also think their are too many different moves and options to attack or defend yourself. I guess I'd like things simpler.

I do like how real world sound physics have been implemented. For example, you hear the whiz of bullets or get hit by them before you hear the gunshot. Plus, when you throw a bomb at a great distance, you see it 'plode, then after a while, you hear the explosion. Nice touch. I like the level of controller sensitivity. It's better than Red Faction, which I thought was great. Much, much better than the suck that is KZ2.

Though, it seems like a cool game, I just couldn't get into it. I can see why some of you would love it, though. It has a fresh and unique charm to it. Might rent it, but I doubt it.

After playing the Demo last night i did enjoy the game. The controls were good. It seems like a better graphics, JUICED up CRACKDOWN that was out for the xbox360. Only instead of guns, you have electricity powers. I am just curious as to how the missions will play out and the story goes. I just have a bad feeling that once i play through it, i will never touch it again. Doesn't seem like it will have any re-play value to me. But that is my problem lately. A LOT of great games are coming out, but once i play them (finish them) they collect dust. I have to start renting more, or sign up for Gamefly or something. :)👍

I don't think I've ever seen so many ads for a ps3 game. I must have seen at least six InFamous ads during (before and half time) the champions league final.

I can't wait to get this game. I've played the demo a crap load of times already.
This trailer makes me want to get it even more..

I got my copy of the game today (lucky me, a day early) and it's AWESOME. It's extremely, and I mean that, addictive and any doubts you had will go away as soon as the game starts.

Movement and attacking is fluent, so when your up against a load of Reapers, for example, you can zap, with your amazing super-powers which require XP to unlock, or punch them, without bumping into any issues along the way. To make it even better, when climbing up walls you can stop near the top and use it as cover, and then pop up which is really cool. This can be done anywhere and it's really cool to see Cole dangling off something with one arm, and the other used for attacking.

The proper cover system, though, isn't as good and I've encountered a few bad things about it. Firstly, it works, but it works in a weird way and Cole won't actually duck down that much, giving enemies the oppurtunity to shoot you. Also, when you are taking cover, you can't lean around and that's a dissapointment.

The graphics are very good, and overall everything, especially Empire City, looks great. Also, the cut-scenes are in a cool comic book presentation. There are some issues though, for example the fire could be a lot better.

There are two paths in inFamous as you may already know, and these can change really easily. If you start an evil mission and complete it, you'll become evil, or if you hurt poor random pedestrians. However, if you do good missions, you'll become good, or if you heal people that are hurt.

The XP system to unlock super-powers is quite confusing, but the simple part is- when you have enough XP, you can buy something and that's basically all you'll need to know.

Around Empire City there's hidden stuff like shards, and these are quite obvious when you go up near them as they are made stand- out, but it adds a nice extra challenge.

I've heard loads of stuff about people having problems with the movement, like the running being weird and the fact that you can climb on stuff you don't want to. Well, like I said, there are none of these problems, and any doubts you have against the game (apart from some of the graphics and the proper cover) will go away as soon as you load up the game.

There's a short install time as well.

I have only played the game for a couple of hours, but I feel I've done loads, and that hasn't even scratched the surface, so when it launches tomorrow, go out and get it and see for yourself how good it is.

No problem, tried to make it as informative as possible. Of course, that was my personal opinion about the game so if you don't like it, I'm sorry.:sly:

Liked the demo! So you saying the game was good, sold me on the game!:)

The new EU PS Blog Flicker page has some remarkable very high resolution drawings from InFamous. Here is one of my favorites:

Also, the Home Theater in the NA PS Home has a few interesting videos (running back to back) about the developers of InFamous.

got the game from gamefly on saturday and have really been enjoying it. It is a little repetative as mentioned with the reapers being the enemy. The most fun i'm having is searching the city for the Shards and The satellite tapes(forgot what they're called). I just realized last night that the dark Blue Circles on the "Radar" are shards, which is making finding the parts much easier. I am pretty much done with the first island. I am 100% done with the reapers removal and there's only 1 mission option left (restored all power to the island). This game really reminds me of CRACKDOWN for xbox360, very similar with clearing out gangs/enemies and the all around free-running and climbing all over the place. Just with electricity powers instead of guns. I enjoyed CRACKDOWN so thats why i enjoy this game. But i'm definately glad it's a rental because once i'm done with it, i probably wouldn't want to play it again. Maybe to try the EVIL powers as i'm going through playing Good Karma. The story is getting pretty interesting too and i'm looking forward to see where it takes Cole. The controls are pretty easy to get used to. Had some friends over and let them take a whirl at it and they really enjoyed it. Can't wait to unlock all the powers and have the fully upgraded versions....muahahahahaha :)👍

I've been off sick this week - so have had lots of game time on inFamous...

It's great fun - GFX are ace... occasionally you jump onto the wrong thing - but usually you're in control pretty well.

The chain link fence is a bit of a funny one - but once you realise it - you get to realise that it's just the programmers way of stopping you going places (although usually if you're clever you can jump around it anyways)

I've completed the game on "Good"(/hero) - and am about half way through "Evil"(/infamous).

The radar is very useful for shard hunting!! - In my finished game I have 308 shards of 350 - I can imagine it's going to take a while to find the rest though!!

The missions are very well thought out - only the side missions (which aren't necessary) can be repetitive... but generally you only play about 3 of the same mission. ('Walk the dogs' is annoying) - except for the Satellite uplink missions - but they're different each time.

Look out for the "street fight" missions - they're full of win.

Gidday, gidday. I grabbed this a few days ago and so far, I'm pretty impressed. I've been putting a few hours a night and I'm having fun :).

Just a quick question if anyone knows, I know you can play as good or evil but is there flexibility? I was doing a Karma moment where I had to save some injured cops and I accidentally restrained one. After that even when I saved the rest of the cops, the game told me I had to kill them to finish the mission and then steal the blast shards I would have received as an award. Will one evil deed prevent me from getting a good ending? I know some games seem kind of pedantic about these things.

/\/\ I don't believe so, i think it depends on your status, if it's blue (good you should get the good ending). And i'm just assuming. Because some of the missions i did, although i thought i was doing good, gave me bad karma, but i was still a "HERO" by the end of the game. I beat it this weekend, the ending is pretty cool. Some of the choices you have to make at the end of the game throw you a few story twists...but at the end you understand it all. Definately an enjoyable game. I started to play through as a bad guy (should have done that from the beginning seems a lot more fun just blowing everything up). But for me i don't think it's worth a second play through. Since i know the story i've lost the motivation to do so. I'm sending it back to gamefly and waiting for "prototype". :)👍

Often you get "Evil" missions if you use Karmic overload - as that reduces your karma level a bit (from full to less full)...
