Interesting news. Not sure whether stretching out one battle into the form of a movie is the right way to go. Maybe it's because I'm thinking back to Third Stage which had 2 main battles and one rescue chase.
 
Are they ending one of my favorite series ever after this movie?

Yeah the only anime I watch is Initial D so I don't bother going in there. This was the next best place.

Correct. The battle between Takumi and Shinji will be the main bulk of Final Stage.

Im actually a bit disappointed with the ending of the race. Feels like its forced, i read the scanned manga though not watching the film yet so it could be different.

Where do you read it because up until two years ago I too was reading it and then I couldn't anymore. I left off at the rouge GT-R R33 whose driver would wreck others to win at all costs.

I read them at Mangafox.com but the translator team stopped at volume 686 and havent scan more so i read the summary at idforums.net.
I can tell you this, while the ending feels rushed and forced, i feel a bit emotional with the 86 at the end. Idk, maybe its because it has been 13 years since i started watching Initial D and now it has ended. I watched the opening movie fom first stage to fifth stage and also the arcade stages opening videos and maaan that nostalgic kicks in hard.

Nah, i know about the ending from the manga.

If you all wanted to know the summary, you can also find it in Youtube. Some guy is nice enough to put a few pages of each chapters (in Japanese though) and then he summarized the whole chapter at the end of the video. Not much but if you don't know japanes and really wanted to know how it end then its one of the way to find out.

I really hope the anime can at least bring up more closure and tying up all loose ends than the manga.
