Yeah the teleporting stuff really does suck, I can't imagine anyone defending that style of animation as it feels so out of place compared to older Initial D stages, I'm not sure why they decided to start doing it either, it was never like this in 1st to 4th stage.
I can't even work what they are trying to show or display by doing it either, my guess is that the "teleporting" lead car accelerates earlier than the chasing car out of the corner. If my guess is correct then I think that's a really bad way to show the difference in cornering speeds between drivers.
i'm a bit satisfied with the anime ending after being disappointed with the manga one. The anime provide so much closure compared to the manga. So sad it has ended now
That was quite an ending and definitely provided some closure, however: what was with the GT86 at the end that Takumi passed? Just a random encounter? Fan-service?
Have you all seen this ? Side story about the 14 year old Takumi. It's really good, shows how Bunta actually really cares for his son. We get to see Itsuki's mom. It's better than the final chapters of Initial D imo.
Just watched Initial D Legend 1. It's an interesting adaptation, but it is a bit on the boring side. Doesn't really feel the same without eurobeat, my blood doesn't pump like it did with the original. Surprisingly lack of actual music I might add, was often just the sounds of the car and the character voices. It feels like it's taking itself too seriously, not as fun as the anime nor manga.
The part where Mogi told Takumi about the swimsuit was just another scene in the movie, in the anime it had much more humour.
Still, it is well worth the watch. Just waiting on subs so I can watch it again but actually understand it!
