Installing Chrome apps

Hey, I'm ok with computers, but when I have to get into the deep depths of folder hell it's a nightmare.

I've been trying to install Youtube Downloader to Chrome but there is something about it not being able to open a crx file. I looked online and got a zip file opener , but I have no idea where to extract it to in order for it to work.
