Im thinking of starting a series exclusive to the Nurburgring.

Did a search and dont think this has been done before, whilst only one track is involved i think the "Ring" offers such a challenge i think it deserves a race series!

I have come up with some brief ideas of how it would run and depending on interest we could start in a couple of weeks, i think we would be looking at somewhere in the region of 10 to twelve weeks from start to finish...below are the basic outlines at this stage

Held exclusively at the "Ring"

Class of car each week based on power eg : week 1 upto 150 BHP - week 2 upto 200BHP etc, right upto the Group C monsters.

Each week a post of possible cars would be posted and you would get the chance to vote on which car would run the challenge the following week! (Result wouldnt be known until start day)

Run in Gt Mode to enable tuning options - To encourage a learning curve of tuning suspension, brakes, downforce etc by discussing progress through the week, and to gain a deeper understanding of the "Ring" as each week goes by.

Run with 1 group (not split into sub groups)and points awarded each week to all drivers enabling movement up/down overall leaderboard.

I think this could be quite good fun and would welcome any ideas on this from all.

Will leave this over the weekend to judge feedback and take it from there. Let me know by Pm or on here if your genuinely interested.

thanks all

Now this I would really love to take part in!
I love the track (who doesn't really?) especially when driving cars that aren't all that powerful...Say stock cars UNDER 400hp (Ruf Yellowbird is just one of the fex exceptions to this rule!:D)

Hopefully there will be *enough* interest from other GTP members to get this thing 'up and going'..

Peace-

Hi SRD, im sure the Yellowbird would find its way into a class somewhere along the way!

I'm interested but currently participating in the AMC and Historic Trans-Am Series. I've already decided to lay low in the WRS for awhile and probably shouldn't take on another series. AMC & Trans-Am should be up in about 8 weeks. Could I participate then in the remaining weeks? I sure would like to go start to finish with this comp. Looks like a great idea to step up the HP as the series progresses.

Of course you could, would be another couple of weeks before it kicked off anyway so you wouldnt miss that much....!

I LOVE the ring as most people do and am quite interested but as others have mentioned there's a lot going on, perhaps it could be held off until the end of one of the other series?

Just don’t do it in time trial or track meet or any of dose…. select a race where there is tire ware, gasoline consumption and a fixed number of laps or time. and I’m in

If its only hotlaps, Im interested, I need to learn the ring better (lines and stuff) and this is a good way to do it. Wont commit until after BC and after a few more details are disclosed.

See what happens 👍

Nice to see there is a bit of interest. The common theme seems to be that people cant start until current series have finished so depending on the feedback by the end of the weekend i will post some more details and an estimated start date. Then all who are interested can let me know and i can work on car lists and format etc.

Thanks for the support from those who have shown interest, dont forget its not as involved or serious as the WRS, no reason why it needs to take up lots of your week. Its a bit of fun and a chance to learn a bit maybe!

@M31 - Its probably going to be based on a hotlap format - fuel usage and tyre wear are great but im aiming this more towards learning suspension and general car setup - and learning correct lines around the "Ring"

@ Speedy Samurai - Each race will be held over a week and you can run as many laps as you like - That way you decide how much of your time you put in.

@ Small fryz - As said above a hotlap format similar to the WRS will probably be used mate so no worries there

Thanks again to all, decision will be made sunday/monday ish!

You? Learn the ring better? lol

MMMM.....'RING. I've been looking for this ever since I missed it in the WRS. Looks like a great time. 10 weeks of just the 'Ring, love it 👍 .

Cool, although i've got enough on my plate with the AMC and WRS, would definately be fun though, and the only track I am half decent on :)

Hmm sound very nice, i will try to join if my PS2 can hold any longer :P GT4 almost killed my laser (new one on april..) I hope that organization will be ok.

Yeah i might be interested! time might get the better of me for some races! but the 'ring' is something i would like to know better, and the course is very challenging in itself!!
I have a fair few competitions im in, so ill try to give these races some time if and when i have it! :D

You can count me in. I am awful on the 'Ring, and would love to learn it (it would help me w/ Mission 34).

But, your an awesome driver, if I can do #34 anyone can...

I wouldn't say awesome, but I haven't tried #34 in almost two months. I have gotten a lot better since then, so I should be able to do it now. My main problem is that I don't know the track, and so I'm reacting instead of anticipating.

Sorry for small OT (but its about Nurb ;) )
IMO the best way to pass mission 34 is just to stick to it - i was doing only that mission + laps in arcede with SLR (tires hard not medium) + laps with few other cars - passing m34 that way isnt to hard - about 15 tryes ;) Now im working at getting better and better time with that combo - my PB is 9'12.~ so its very slow :( thats why i would like to joni that series (althoght we will probably run on RSS so driving will be alot easier than in m34 ;) )
Anyway i still think that arcade run on cmplex string in GT3 was alot harder than m34 in GT4 :)
I wonder how will week with car in type of Speed12 look like :) - hard driving :)
Oh i have some idea if it is possible to propose anything - we could vote for 3 cars every week and give "points" to cars 3 ; 2 and 1 of course - its becoause there might be not alot of ppl and some cars might do not get any poits or alot cars might get the same amount of pints - i hope that u get my weak english ;)

Of course you can propose ideas - but im not sure i understood exactly what you have in mind! Care to have another go?

sounds cool to me. im in if its on.
Same here. I'm in the JGTC series, but I'd run this Nurb hot lap thing, too.

I like the limited car choice and tuning aspects. Lots of potential for teamwork/competition on the garage-side of things.

I'm interested, would all cars be stock?

Cars would be chosen by you guys using a voting system (Im working on the car list now) and i would then set the tuning options available to everyone that week.

So no not completely stock, however the reason for that is like i already said to encourage a learning curve of setup options and discussion on here would help with that!
