Is anyone else having trouble with the full lap? I golded the individual sections easily, but the full lap requires you to drive sooo fast. It's 8 seconds faster than the section times combined... I can't keep that pace up for a whole lap without crashing—just having a wheel an inch out of place on the nurburgring means a spinout.

I had trouble with it too, but you can afford to leave the track once or twice as long as they aren't long. I only had ABS and TC at 1, and a whole lot of trial and error.

The key that I figured was to try and prevent the AI from stealing your line and prevent yourself from crashing into them. I did a 7:03.xxx with mistakes.

Yeah, I'm having trouble with the AI. They keep taking my lines and not letting me pass. I'm using the same ABS and TC settings, so I guess I'll just keep plugging away.

this is the SLS AMG '10 full lap one, i had some issues with the AI not yeliding when i was behind them, just try to slipstream as much as you can.
I won on my 3rd attempt.

Note: Points between km7~9 can lose you a lot of time.

Nikhil keep left, a rule of the nurbergring is overtake on left and slower cars have to move as far to the right as they can

yea this was by far one of the hardest challenges i've done... im using a ds3 and its best to make sure your on pace to beat it before continuously trying (if you're familiar with the track)... i know from trying over and over that i had to pass the red mercedes and the other one in front of it around the 3:40 mark or 4:40 mark before the carousel corner and i HAD to be right behind the blue mercedes when doing the carousel otherwise i knew i was out of luck... and theres those very few corners where it says to break so much but its really not necessary!

Maybe that's my problem. For the life of me I can't get any gold on the AMG challenges. Maybe I need traction @ 1. hmmm

hey its really really difficult! i had all the aids off like it is on default with tc at 0 and everything else how it always is which is usually off and abs at 1... it takes a ALOT of practice and memorization but it can be done... trust me i thought i was going to die some of these! the sl 300 (i think) when you get in the rain can be a pain too cuz it slides EVERYWHERE and finishing the whole lap within the time limit was really hard but nothing compared to the sls amg one!

Yeah I got silver on all of them. I'm yet to unlock SLS AMG '10 in rain (current lvl 23) and so far I got all silver. Takes a while to get use to the track.

I'm using a DFGT as well lol but its still damn hard. I guess I'll come back to it soon and give it another shot. Worst thing is on the full lap when you slam into AI doing 200km/h+ lol.

That is a good piece of advice if you are going to the ring IRL at the public opening hours. Because at those times it is a public road, traffic laws apply. But in a race I guess you can overtake whereever.

Besides I doubt the AI would know such gentle rules :)

It's mentioned in one of the briefings, and thus the AI generally stays to the right.

Nikhil, keep plugging away at the individual sections until you have a good grasp of the track, knowledge helps immensely. Also, don't worry if you lose time overtaking, the track is very long and there's time to be made up later.

Ah, haven't seen that. Still I do not think the AI obeys that. On the fast section after Flugplatz you can see them bouncing from side to side, every single time, just following their line, totally ignoring others. It should be easy to overtake slower cars in that section, but because of this it is rather hard, you have to know where they are going to be when.

I found the full lap to be much easier. The individual sectors require you to be more precise. The full lap gives you some room to make a mistake or two. I was able to gold the full lap on the first try on each level, where the sectors typically took a few tries. There are some areas where the AI gets in the way, but for the most part, on gold pace, you can catch them in some good passing areas, and even catch a bit of a draft.

This was one of the first things I golded in. I remember that the white MB at the tight S (don't know corner names) was key. Pass that car right at the hairpin on the outside, then pass the next two cars on the flat out section before they start racing side by side, and the purple MB has to be passed on the inside before the corner with the BMW graffiti.

Always look ahead, and plan your next move before you get there. Sometimes you might have to take a slower outside line to get around traffic, but it's better than getting stuck behind them (easy on the throttle, hold it steady). Don't focus too much a corner that you just did perfect, there still plenty more to go. If you have a wheel, always use your left foot to brake. Also, practice the whole lap, or you'll start to get really good at the first few sectors, and then always funk it up at the end.

Hmmm, maybe I'm just trying to overtake too aggressively. Most of my mistakes happen when I'm around the AI. I'll try to be a bit more cautious and make up time in the open...

yea i havent unlocked the sls amg rain one either - i think it comes at level 24, im only at level 21 - but i did the other rain one which is in the sl 300 or whatever its called, makes it easier knowing at what times to pass cars and i LITERALLY hate nurburgring, i know people love it but since gt4 it is my least favourite track ever, just seems pointless to me :(... but i admit its very challenging and sometimes fun but challenges make me hate it alot lol

Well, for me, this was the toughest challenge so far (along with that damn IB license with the FT-86 on top gear track). I must have played the full nurburgring lap about 100 times before I got it right, but when I realized my mistakes, I was ALWAYS doing a full lap under 7:10.xxx, which seemed impossible at first. I managed to get it with 7:04.838 :) All aids off, except ABS to 1 - you seem to have a serious power advantage without them, but mistakes can be fatal.

My tips... DO NOT try to take corners at full speed without braking first; If you can hear your tires screeching, you should be doing something different than what you did; try to slightly touch the brakes in not-so-fast turns in order to avoid spinning your tires.

they move over to the right and let me pass on the left, i also flash my high beams as well(hear this is what you do this to inform the driver infront of you in germany that you want to pass them)

I blame the racing line. The racing line/red brake point is this game is just wrong, it's not always the fastest line and some brake point is not necessarily... Only use it for reference. I was able to complete many difficult challenges after knowing not to always trust the racing line.

It took me a few goes each to get all gold on the sector challenges. I then had a go at the full track and when i saw i was 9 seconds down on gold i just quit straight away. This is only my second day on the game and with my new wheel so maybe when I'm a bit better I'll have another go.

It is 8 seconds faster than the combined times because when you start each sector at a slow ish pace. on the full lap you blast past the sector points at full speed gaining several seconds.

it's a long track, 9 second isn't a lot to make up. The AI is setup in a way that if you are slowish, you will get caught up at the worst places. So if your first sector is good, the ride is going to be much easier all along the way, and you suddenly find yourself gold with seconds to spare.

The AI definately follow the move to the right to let faster cars through rule, you can clearly see it, some however do it a little less reluctantly than others.

The reason you think the AI getting in the way is because if you approach them at a right hand curve or corner they move to the right which is basically the racing line and the line you want to take but there actually following the stay right to let faster cars overtake rule.

just remember that if you catch an AI car at a right hand corner you need to go around the ouside

im happy just to get silver on all of the n-ring trials, I'm just bad at the track esp. with a ds3....
if the cars are slow sub 200hp ish, I can still do it, but imo the ds3 is too sluggish for fast 300+ hp cars...I just can't handle them...

I just settled for silvers.( i generally bag silvers 1st try in GT):D I`m only a few seconds away from getting gold and re-tried a couple that i was really close to getting but just couldn`t get it :ouch: Plus i`ve got to deal with a wife who has quickly grown jealous of my time investment with GT5 and not with her :nervous: So it`s best for me to hit and run with a silver trophy. ;)
