Oh, well. I'll just win the driver championship instead, lol

And there's some quality driving going on in that video. Superb editing, too 👍

Now, I'm both excited and scared of Nürburgring, but it is going to be an interesting race. It's extremely narrow, and doesn't allow for many errors, so I'm expecting the unexpected. Anything can happen. Fortunately I have some knowledge of the track beforehand, but I find it hard to recognize each corner in the FM4 version :boggled:

Anyway, chaotic race today. The turn-up was a bit bleak, and even more people seemed to drop out during the race. Seems like the transition to daylight saving time was the culprit. The race was exciting, though. I managed to snatch 2nd. Kreepn was long gone, and the cars behind me were falling back, so I had a nice, calm race, and I just focused on finishing safely. As expected, the trickiness of the Nürburgring meant that a lot of people managed to put themselves in the wall or on the roof. Luckily I avoided both, but I'm convinced they only put those curbs there to murder us, lol

Yeah you do real well on this one. Nice job man. I just couldn't get a groove with it. Once I got a little damage it seem to really hamper my racing and just compounded things.

Well no connection issue this time except one guy got dropped from Live altogether. We only had 8 on though. Guess the time difference threw everyone off yet again. The group was half way through the race so we just kept going as not everyone was able to restart. Well hopefully next week the field is bigger and everyone should be on the right time schedule. There were ALOT of rolling of cars on the track today. lol. Interestingly enough I didn't roll mine but I definitely came dangerously close to doing so. I mean right on the edge of rolling it. Points for this one is going to be slim as only a handful of racers were actually able to finish the race.

Thanks. And I also came dangerously close to rolling my car on Adenauer Forst, side skirts scraping the asphalt. I kind of panicked, but managed to save it for a considerable time loss. The corner after, one of the Bimmer drivers managed to take himself out in a pretty spectacular way, literally flying off the track at Metzgesfeld, lol. I hope you'll make a video of this, because there should be some damn good exhilarating shots in there :D

I hear your steering wheel is broken, total? Let's hope you get one back soon. I know the frustration of being forced to drive controller, and it is such a buzzkill. Not to mention it puts quite the damper on one's competitiveness

By the way, I can in fact hear you guys speaking, but unfortunately, I can't respond, since I don't own a microphone for the 360. So, excuse me for seeming like socially awkward guy who gives jack all about what everyone says, but I'd have to stop in the middle of the race to type a PM otherwise. But I do hear what you say ;)

Will the points be handed out differently due to the small number of cars that finished?

The scale of the points will remain the same just not alot of people around to get points. Manufacturer and individual points will remain the same. Alot of people gonna get 6 huge ones today. That didn't sound right :(

Hey aero you're actually doing better for the forum than expected. I accidentally totaled your manufacturer points instead of race results points in the standings. You have Forzaplanet in there and pretty strong with the last two races. If you had a teammate you'd really have the group a stronger contender.

Stats and standing are up.

You want to know where we race next?

YOU DECIDE!!!

You have two pics below. Vote for the "Volvo" track or the "BMW" track. Don't ask me which track is which as I wasn't given that info. Just the pics. ;)

You have until Monday evening 8pm EST to decide.

I'll go with the Volvo track, since I know I'll like that one more than the BMW track ;)

The votes are rolling in and the Volvo track is getting beaten down. lol
So far it's 4 for BMW and 1 for Volvo

EDIT: It's 7 to 1 BMW track. Looks like BMW is going to win in a landslide.

This Monday I started thinking about how at this point in the race people start having "buyers remorse" about the cars they picked. Sure enough during a practice yesterday switching cars was mentioned. Normally you're stuck in the ride you picked at the beginning of the series but in this series people will be allowed to switch cars but remember the rule that was added before the series began (which I'm sure quite a few glossed over ;) ), "Remember you gotta stick with the car you started the series with. If people change cars, and they can if they want, they'll lose all manufacturers points gained and half other points for 'breaking their contract' "

That was some intense stuff aero!!! This is very close to what I wanted the series to resemble. Not everyone is going to get first place all the time so personal battles make the race. I think the manufacturers points idea was a good one. I was trying my hardest to snatch them points away from you.

LMAO at the end of the second race looked like you were putting the block on me. I was saying to myself "Look at this mofo blocking me. SON OF A BLEEP" LOL

That was crazy stuff. I think the Volvo's could have had a strong showing on that track if we could have gotten up front and away from the pack. Great racing man.

Likewise, likewise, total. I have to say, you were flyin' in the Volvo today, 1:31.6 in the qualifying. That's seriously quick 👍

Today was probably some of the closest, most intense and challenging racing I have encountered. Really, it has to be my benchmark of online racing. In the first heat, I managed to catch up to Seeker after bumped into a spin by someone (:p), having an extremely tight battle. I was literally up his arse, only a few meters between us, but I never had a big enough gap or the extra bit of speed to execute the final maneuver. But never mind I didn't pass him, the battle alone was worth it all.

Second heat had some clashing up front in the first few corners, which I used to get ahead to 3rd, but I was never consistent enough to keep Bellmond behind me. I really had to pull myself together for the last 3 laps to keep him behind me, so I was bummed he got me on the second-to-last corner. Hahaha, and then you came along, out of nowhere, and I was thinking to myself 'where the **** is he', lol, I couldn't figure out where you wanted to be.
Sorry about that

I don't even know where that 1:31 came from. I never even sniffed that time in all the practices I did. Didn't even know it existed.

Yeah my bad on the bump. It seemed like you were 15 feet away from me and then like either my hood just extended 20 feet on its own or something, it was weird because it didn't seem like I was nowhere near close enough to hit you but I guess I was.

That first heat was crazy though. You and seeker were battling hard. I was able to finally catch up to you guys the whole time I kept saying "Keep battling guys, keep battling". I felt like a thief at the end though. You guys battling and here I come sneaking on the inside with the "Don't mind me guys keep doing what you're doing" look on my face. lol

Indeed, the pass was quite amusing, lol. It was entirely justified though, you were definitely the quicker driver today, and by far. Even though I was driving like my butt was on fire, aggressive driving isn't my favorite.
I guess I lack the nuggets

Unfortunately, I managed to click myself past the championship results within a split second, a bad habit from SP.
So, how exactly did the final results look?

It was a weird pass made up more of self-defense than anything. lol. I was expecting you to go out wider and I would just draft you but you were more middle of the track and I'm coming up with alot of speed and resolved myself to be taking a trip in the dirt when I realize "Hey there's actually some space here" so I took it. lol

I'll be putting up the results in a few. Just off the top of my head I think wheelracers jumped out in the points. I suspect once the rest of the RDDC guys get back on the same timeframe they'll make a push. DigitalBBQ guys might have picked up a bunch of points also since they had 3 guys out today.

There's a good chance I may miss this race. My birthday was this week so the wife planned something and I might have to miss out on the event. In any case I want you guys to go ahead and race, the show must go on ;) Kreepin or D Seeker since they both have the format I believe will host. We have the list of all the participants so they can easily check my friends list to send invites to those who may not be on their friends list.

Thanks guys.

Meanwhile chew on this...

Happy birthday, total!
Sorry I'm a little late, but just make sure you have a great time tomorrow ;)

And I so predicted that picture when I saw the Volvo 850 was included in the DLC.
Now, what we need is a Renault Laguna and a Mondeo V6, and we could recreate BTCC anno 1994 :D

By the way, when are the points from the Silverstone round getting up?

Thanks man.

I'll do the points soon, possibly tomorrow.

Well the race didn't go down today because of connection problems D reported so we'll just kick it off next Saturday and hope for the best (but prepare for the race)

Well guys I updated the points. At the end of the last race the results seemed to be in question. So what I did was go through both replays and note everyone's finishing place and was able to verify what we had was indeed accurate. Took a while but I wanted to get the results correct. Bellmond's position is in question. I don't know if he came in 2nd or tied for 1st as the results I have basically have him and super in a tie with each getting 1st and 3rd in a race. If he indeed tied for first then him and his team will be awarded an extra point. I believe Kreepin was relegated to 3rd place in that he never won either race but came in 2nd in both races. The CPU or standing, I assume, weigh first place finishes over two seconds in the event of a tie.

Today was a very fun race. Numbers might have been low but the action was definitely high. Think everyone had a blast out there today. I struggled hard today for sure. Still can't believe Super broke into the 1:20 mark. WOW You had your Volvo doing speed I couldn't match. I just couldn't get a groove with it.

Points and Standings have been updated

Hugely fun, indeed. One of the tightest rounds so far. We certainly had a good battle in the first heat, awesome driving there, total, I really had a lot of trouble getting past for the good first half of the race. I also liked how the field was mixed up today. The people who ranked high in the first heat finished in the middle of the pack in the second one and vice versa, really giving everyone a chance to prove their worth. And, yeah, I also felt quite comfortable in the Volvo today, something that rarely happens. I had to pull of some (too) risky maneuvers to get where I wanted to be, but everything just seemed to click, and I was consistently doing 1:21:XXX. And now, there's only two rounds to go now, but the standings are super, super close for individuals. And at least the ForzaPlanet "team" isn't last in forum standings :p

I'm surprised at how you're representing the Forzaplanet forum. You must be the Six Million Dollar Man or something. lol. (Or possibly Knight Rider "Michael, one man can make a difference" lol). If you had some help I think it would be neck-and-neck for Forum War standing. At least this proves I'm not cherry picking tracks. I damn sure wouldn't have picked that one if I were. I think you logged off before you had the chance to see the next track. I had sent you a clue but you'd need to have seen it then to know.

From the Paddock:
Well guys 2 more races and the first ever (that I know of at least, lol) Forum War will come to a conclusion. It's definitely fun I must say though not without it's growing pains. Next week is Infineon Long so get ready for that race.

More importantly though is the last race of the season. A couple of things. I'd like to get the participation high for that one. So lets see if we can fill the room up.
Now the main thing is length of the last race. I'd like to make that one longer than our usual "one hour". If anyone isn't able to do that let me know and we'll scrap the idea. But if everyone is on board then that's what we'll do.

Yeah, I'm surprised how my one-man army isn't dead last by now, but we're all getting owned by you WheelRacers though, lol. And I also usually hate Circuit de Catalunya with a passion, but I felt surprisingly competitive yesterday, I don't know what got into me. I'm sad to see the series is almost over, it has really been a blast to be a participant. I have to thank you for hosting this, and being so embracing towards this first-time FM racer. It means that I've really been given me a good taste of the online part of this game. So, if you're making a new touring car series that involves flying bricks, sign me up pronto :D

Regarding the last race, I don't know if I can make it if it lasts over an hour. The problem is, 11 AM EST is dangerously close to dinner time for us Central Europeans (I doubt the Brits have the same problem), so it'd be a bit of a gamble for me, not knowing how much time I have that evening. Sorry for being a buzzkill if I'm the only one with that problem. It would be great to end this with a bang of a race, though. I'll cross my fingers for a full house.

Well guys I think I've decided what track to host the last race. Thing is I'm thinking of using a part of the track that "wasn't meant" to be used. This track has two configs (used to have more) but if you look closely there's actually an unofficial third config buried in one of the official configs. I'm trying to think would this bring any value to the race. It would definitely test a skill that I don't have but some of you do. Especially if you've done ALL the Rivals events or have completed the career. One thing for sure if we did use this config drivers will DEFINITELY have to exercise patience at certain points because it can be DISASTROUS. Like New York track disastrous.

Wow, that was some racing going on. It's rarely as close at it was in second race, everyone going at blistering pace, bumper to bumper. I managed to bank 2nd after a tough battle with TKR, managed to outbrake him after the first chicane, then pulled away in the right sweeper. We sure had an intense battle in the first race too, total, fortunately (for you ;)) I completely lost my cool and braked too late in one corner, then smashed backwards into the concrete barrier in the next, lol. Still a satisfying 4th place in the first heat.

Circuit de la Sarthe is going to be interesting, negotiating the chicanes on the Mulsanne straight by swerving between the tire walls. I just know I'll mess up on that one. I'm in though, it's going to be a lovely twist to the track.

I wanted to run that track but didn't at the same time for the last race. So I went to it and see if I could get my enthusiasm about it back and that's when I stumbled onto the tire walls and how you can go through them and thought THAT would be freaking COOL!!! Glad the few guys there seemed to like the idea also. I'll make it official then.

Man today was definitely about speed and endurance. LOL, I saw when you lost your cool there. Not gonna lie, I was feeling relief. LOL. I thought you were gonna lose it a few turns before that when on that big downhill left hand sweeper you were taking it real wide. I had great moments and I stunk all at the same time. Just couldn't keep my concentration long enough to get the job done. We did have some nice battling going on though. I think we battled head to head longer in this race time-wise than all the other races combined. lol

Good stuff, hate to see the series coming to an end with the last race being next week.

EDIT: Nice touch added by Turn10, I checked the replay when you went rear-first into the wall. You can actually hear your rear wing tumbling on the track when it comes off. It really sounds like in the studio they threw a piece of a body kit across the floor to get the sound. Very cool.

I love the attention to detail in this game. I wouldn't at all be surprised if they had thrown body panels along different materials to create scraping sounds. Unfortunately I didn't save the replay, but I must say, the crash was kind of relieving for me, too, lol. Inevitably the pressure got to me, and I didn't have to worry about you being two inches off my bumper every time I braked. You were much more composed today, while my Volvo was all over the place, lol, and you managed to crack 1:42. I was nowhere near those numbers, that's ridiculously quick for the good ol' Volvo. If it hadn't been for Choupolo's wheel failing right in front of you, you probably would have been in the top 2.

Today's race was a bit of a mouthful for me. Infineon is a very tricky track, and I was dumb not to practice more than I did. I think I nailed it in the last race, though. Did low 43s all the way as soon as I got past 4th, even managing to claw back some of the time between my car and 1st place on the last laps. It was extremely frustrating trying to get past TKR though, lol. We seriously had some close calls in between, there simply isn't room for two cars on the home straight. A stone fell from my heart when I could finally see the Bimmer in the rear view mirror. How rewarding.

It's been a very memorable season, and it will be missed the coming Saturdays after its end. Have you planned anything special for the last race, before or after? Anyway, de la Sarthe will be great fun for the last race, a grand circuit for the grand finale of a grand series.
With a twist of autocross.
