We're putting together a big international iLink event. Watch this space for more information. If you're interested, please report here ...
The following are the preliminary details for the event, which we hope to fix by the end of this week. Then it will all come down to getting the money in on time. As of today banks in Europe are no longer allowed to charge you anything for money-transfers within Europe though, so that's great timing.
I agree Sphinx we really will need to get some practice in I'm still up for it and will have a talk with Ron and his bud Venom and see if they up for it too. We'll have a discussion over the weekend and get back to you on it
Hi people! Just wanted to let you know that the iLink event is 99% certain now! (that is if the money comes in of course ) I'm looking forward to it, we're going to have a great time out there ...
(lot's of work to do for me though, set up a foundation which can deal with the payments to the RAI - private persons cannot rent anything there - for which I need a notary and everything - thankfully I have two here at work who will probably help out, cutting costs - and set up a bank account for the foundation - which should be no problem, though I may need an extra insurance to avoid financial risk if one of you guys torches the RAI or something . I'll post an account soon on which people can start making the deposits ... )
It's the cheapest I've heard of so far: comes down to 35 euro per night for a cabin for two! And it's relatively close to the centre. You need a bit of traveling to get to the RAI form there. The fastest (and most fun ) route however is by bicycle which you can easily rent for four days, and which is pretty much the best way to get you anywhere in Amsterdam, as you will see when you get there (lots of them).
Since that puts four drivers there already, I recommend anyone on a budget to join them and book as many of those cabins as possible. With 60 euros p.p. for the rent of the RAI and 70 euros for staying in the cabin, then you only spend 130 p.p. in those four days - not bad, I think, for four days Amsterdam and iLinking ... 8)
Lotus350 and Mr.P and anyone else planning to come to the iLink event, you should really take part in the Sim Tire championship, just as you should have worked harder for the King of the Street #4 challenge, because even though you mightn't win, you could very well be the best driver who is also going to the iLink event and therefore still win the prize. The Sim Tire Chall started yesterday and since it runs for 10 weeks, by just taking part consistently you should have a good chance.
The KOTS challenge would have been an easy opportunity because the way it looks now 6th place, 25 seconds behind first, may just be the first iLink participant and therefore wins the ticket. It could happen to you.
Hey Sphinx, what happened to you btw? I just realised you said you wanted to come too but I forgot if you said you couldn't (don't see you in this thread).
I would like to pick you up, but it depends at what time you'll arrive at Schiphol. I have school till 2.30, so if you arrive after 3.30, i will pick you guys up
Originally posted by made in holland Too bad i can't pick you guys up. But you'll have no difficulty getting there by train. Enough scheduled trains in that area
And i will definetly see you guys later that friday
Hey the train's the best ride anyway. I think I might just be able to pick you up personally then by train, because there'll be plenty of other people there by then, and it's so close to the Airport - 9 minutes to be exact! 4 trains per hour. 2 euros p.p.. If you guys travel with me you get a discount to 1.20 euros p.p. And all the trains depart from track 2.

Just in case I can't make it, you now know what to do. Track 2, any train departing 10,27,40 or 57 (and get out at the RAI, obviously, then just follow the signs )
hey guys, can't wait to see you all. Bad luck that we just can play till 23:30. Maybe the officer is very kind and let us crazy people drive some more hours.
Anyway, can't wait to see some new faces. And for sure some good old buds.
