Tomorrow, i will have school until 14.30. I will leave for Amsterdam immediatly after that, so if i stay out of heavy traffic, i think i can be at the Rai around 15.30-16.00 hours.

Great event :cool: everyone should try this at least once ;) Kelly was one fast ***** at live i-linking and I had some great battles there too .... couldn't touch Mr Holland live though :eek: very , very fast off the blocks 👍 and a great guy ! although a bit quiet :D

That is SO AWESOME! I'd love to get some of my friends around here interested in group racing. I know enough guys to play six players but it's rare that we all have time to play together.
 
I want to do this so bad. How did you guys publicize your event? Did you do it by private invitation or did you put flyers in game stores and stuff? How did you do entrance fees / pay for the room? Who provided hardware?

We basically only put it on most of the more common GT3 forums (www.granturismo.de, www.gt3times.com, www.gtplanet.com, GTWeb, etc.). Later my sister suggested publicising the event on some Dutch gamessites and that caught some attention here and there as well, among others we got to talk to a club who gets sponsored to organise LAN parties and have offered us locations and webspace.

This event actually came forth out of a GT3 competition during a car-show. I got online to try and find some other people who were taking part and came across a few on GT3Times. When the separate qualification for this event was cancelled and integrated with the main event, we decided to use that day to meet up and do some racing.

So on January 25th of this year, we were only four (Tomski, Friday, Rsh_scuderia and me) but because for most of us it was the first time that we had exciting matches with drivers of equal or better skill, we were instantly hooked and decided to make this a recurring event.

After the car-show competition, we met again, this time with the intention to get a HUB for connecting PS2s for all of us and for this event Edmar joined us, so that we were 5 drivers. We managed to find an affordable HUB and so 2 months after the January 'event' we for the first time experienced 5 player iLink, our first race revving up 5 787Bs at Monaco - the sound and sight of that really got our adrenaline pumping!

The next event, again 2 months later (we agreed to do this at least every two months, which so far we have done :D ), we were joined by Made in Holland, and so we were a full grid of 6 drivers and again had awesome driving. It was just getting better and better.

So I started inviting others that were slightly further away, like ac.cobra427 and RoxaSupra4 and during this time also found my way to most of the GT-boards out there, including a German one, and noticed they did quite a lot of iLinking over there. Since some Germans didn't live to far from my place, I thought why not invite them over, who knows they might show up. They sure did, as did Hugo Boss. That weekend was unforgettable, great racing (Flinx was there too, almost untouchable :| and Hugo Boss continued the tradition of each new Dutchman joining in being more talented than all the previous ones :D ) and the great weather helped to make it perfect.

Not too long afterwards Doohan from gt3times was going to Assen and since I was having a birthday party anyway I invited him to come over for some racing and so he did, coming over with some friends; then ac.cobra427 and RoxaSupra4 also decided to show up and again we had a lot of fun.

Then the next event in August saw the arrival of again some new faces, among which JMR, and so by the time we were planning the Amsterdam event I had already met a fair share of the 'local' GT3 community. :cool:

You have no idea though how many people out there play this game and are not even online ... Try actively searching for them in your neighbourhood - yes, flyers at Gameshops will certainly do the trick! - and you'll be surprised!

This was an absolutely fantastic experience, I'd recommend it to anyone :D

Big thankyou to Arwin who made it possible for me and Ron to make it over and enjoy some good company, and have some very competitive racing between us all! 👍 ( I was on form :bighead: :p )

It was nice meeting lots of racers from the other forums and we enjoyed everyone's company! and we hope to meet again sometime :cool: This pic sums it up quite well!

Arwin, a few of my results aren't up there seems to be some mix ups in the results somewhere as some of my results aren't even there :p

Anyway, again thankyou all for making this an experience to remember for a long, long time :D:tup:

I'm getting all excited just reading about it! Could you imagine six 787Bs running around Grand Valley together? Or roaring down R246's straight! What an awesome sight.

VERY envious of you european guys. I've always enjoyed reading up on the various i-link events held around the place, and with the german guys holding some huge events, its good to see other countries doing the same. There was a fairly big event held down here in Australia last time the F1 cars were in town, but i could not attend (the country is a bit bigger than those in europe ;) ), but i do hope to be able to go down into the southern states of oz and catch up with some of my long time OLR mates next year.

I have meet up with a couple of guys (Tosk, Des Lim) when they came up for holidays, but have only got a few local mates that play and so our i-link races usually consist of only 3-4 of us. But its still a blast.

I have posted flyers at local game shops in the past, but drivers around here are few and far between (which is a real shame). Dbarrade from the GT Times has recently moved up near to me and so we have planned a bit of an i-link race with a few other guys in the comming weeks. Really looking forward to that :D

Might even run a few of the races that you guys did for a bit of a comparison.

Anyways, thanks for posting the cool pics, results, and comments. Big thumbs up to Arwin for organising the event and allowing us not able to race to have a good look at what you guys got up to.

Oops :O you're right! Your results are there but I see some double names - I'll check and fix tonight!

We have a nice replay of you driving in Race #5 I think, so you have a nice keepsake for this event. :D With a bit of luck David can host it so people can watch it soon. ;)

Oh and nice job in keeping me behind you in that Camaro SS @ SSR5 :D - you took that final turn before the straight better than me, almost always a better exit speed so that I couldn't catch you on the straight properly. Good racing ... :cool:
 
:lol: Race 5! the speedster round Deep Forest ...the one where I came last :p :D A shame you don't have the Tokyo battle between me and RSH saved where he robbed me on the last straight ...now that was a really good race :D
 
Fixed!

EDIT: no shame in coming last in that one though as it was an A-Class race with JMR (#1 in the end results), Made in Holland (#2 in the end results), Edmar (couldn't finish the series, but I think people know him here :D ) and RoxaSupra4 (#3 in the end result) ;)
