Hello, I'm on finally on GTPlanet.
I found it through the GT community.
I'm from France and I started playing racing games when I was little. This is how I got my interest in racing and became a motorsport fan 😄
I'm racing in GT7 with a Logitech G923 steering wheel.
My other games besides Gran Turismo include Ridge Racer, WipEout, Tetris, Lumines, F1, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, MotoGP, Gravity Rush and the list goes on...
Favorite console will always be the PS Vita

Hi all. This is the first forum i have joined, so I’m popping my cherry so to speak. Found this forum while looking for posts about the quickest time for Sardegna 800, then i ate some humble pie when i saw the results. Live in Surrey, UK, and first played the original Gran Turismo on PS1, but never really got into it until 3 years ago on PS5 - and I’ve been literally hooked since.

I play with the controller, but I’m itching to get a wheel set up and VR2 - potentially Santa’s has something for me if i can earn enough brownie points with my wife. Other games i love are first person shooters, but I’m no fan of multiplayer - FarCry3/4/5/6, CoD all, but recently I’ve been addicted to Ghost of Tsushima. Also if anyone has kids old enough to play the dual dependencies in ‘It takes Two’ and ‘Split Fiction’ are amazing fun.

I’m looking to meet fellow GT7 fans - i recently took my son to GT Live in London, which was amazing (i wish the data presentation on the screen display was the same in GT7 as they have at GT Live) - and hopefully get involved in some races/league at a level where i enjoy it, I’ve found it hard to get into the online options available. To give an idea of where i am……Spa 800 I’ve just hit 2:12 lap time with Mazda 787B (super chuffed with that but some are way better), Sardegna 800 1:29 in same car, but I can’t seem to repeat it. Sardegna 800 best total time 24:12 - but this morning i saw a video of a guy getting under 23 minutes, i hope I never meet him online!!!

Good to meet you all!
Nick

Hi I’m from Michigan in the United States. I found GT Planet as I was searching for a racing community to learn about gear, and sim racing in general. I’ve always been interested in car racing. As a kid I was fortunate enough to see the Indy 500 twice in person, and such great drivers as Mario Andretti, Al and Bobbie Unser, Mark Donahue, etc. In college in the 80s I watched a lot of F1, Indy car and NASCAR. Then I got married had a family and got busy. Then in 2018 I stumbled on Drive to Survive on Netflix and my love of F1 was rekindled. This past December I bought F124 for PlayStation, tried to play with a controller, which was a nonstarter, so bought a Logitech G923 and a wheel stand, and was hooked. I just received my first chassis, an rseat A1 Formula, it just arrived and I can’t wait to assemble it. As my abilities improve I plan to upgrade my wheel and pedals. The simagic alpha evo gear really intrigues me. Seems like a great value. The only other video game I play is Call of duty. Thanks for adding me to the community! I know I’ll learn a great deal and have some great conversations. Let’s go!

Hello everybody.

First let me say that I am getting on in years and posting on forums and stuff is very new to me and I don't use social media at all.
So please bear with me if I display any poor standards of etiquette.

So, with regards to the introductory questions, I found GTPlanet whilst looking for some help with regards to uploading decals to GT7.
It's the usual thing where I can load my decal but it wont display in the game. There is a lot of pointers on the internet saying this is the place to come for answers. so here I am.

I am from the UK and i started my gaming journey on the PS2 playing Gran Turismo and TOCA Touring Cars.

I am currently using a Thrustmaster T-GT II wheel base, with a Thrustmaster Ferrari 488 GT3 Wheel.

I also like first person shooter games particularly the Call Of Duty and Medal Of Honour franchises. I also like flying games, particularly Ace Combat.

With regards to what I look forward to doing in the community, the answer is I don't really know. As I said before I have not done this before so I don't really know what to expect.

Many Thanks.

Hi all,

Saw it mentioned on Overtake, what was Race Dept.
The UK
Probably the 70s on something like digital derby, however I think the one I played was wind up not battery.
I use a G29
Online FPS, CoD etc. Also I enjoy retro games, being old. Amiga, Spectrum, C64, arcade and older consoles.
Not really sure, hopefully I can be helpful member of this community.

Hello everyone,

found this good old forum while searching for GT7 daily races and some lobbies to partecipate in and infally registered. :)

Wanted to start playing racing games properly so went out and bought a g29 and gt7 altogheter, didn't regret it.
I do like other genres as rpgs, tactical and managements but well, time is a problem so better race fast! ;)

Browsing around when I heard you can join a team. I'm interested in doing that if possible.

United States, Wisconsin

Since the first need for speed came out. I just got into sim racing about a year ago.

Yes, thrustmaster

I used to play destiny but now I just race

Learn and share things to become faster and possibly join a team or more like a brotherhood.

Hello, I was looking for some mods to asseto corsa and saw someone who had mentioned this forum so I decided to take a look :)

Hello there!
I've been around here for a while now actually, so I can't really tell when exactly I heard about GTPlanet
But anyway

I'm from Russia

The first racing game I played was Colin McRae DiRT in 2009 when I got my first PC
Now that's not actually true, as the first game I remember myself playing was Ridge Racer Type 4 on PS somewhere in 2007
But the console died the same year, disc magically dissapeared (Never found it), and I was, like, 4 years old and couldn't even remember the name of the game until I randomly stumbled upon it in 2012

I only had one wheel somewhere in 2010, when my father bought NFS Shift along with it
The wheel was called GW-10VR (Sprinter 1) made by Dialog
It was basic - had only 90° turning radius, only paddle shifters, no clutch pedal and cheap feedback that died withing a month of usage
I also used the well-known G25 somewhere in 2021, but not for long as it wasn't mine

So, up until this day I still play everything with keyboard (except Ridge Racer 🤷‍♂️)

If we're talking about 'non-racing' games, then I only play Counter-Strike 2, just because it's the only shooter I ever liked starting with 1.6 in 2012 (I really got into Counter-Strike only three years ago, actually)

Here I was actually looking for Assetto Corsa mods, of which I found aplenty
Thank you to all the people putting their time and effort into these awesome cars I found here!

Alright, I definitely took my time with the introduction
Have a great day, everyone!

In general, I play everything I can.

Welcome, I'm glad you found us. Yeah, I play what I can get my hands on too.

Hey guys. Waaaaaaaaaaats Aaaaaaaaaap. 😁

I aint new to GT since I have been a gamer fer almost 40 years, and been a big fan of the original games on ps1 and racing games on other platforms before then too.

I am however new to this forum and also been a member, although mostly inactive, of other gran turismo and racing game forums. Hopefully that'll change with me joining this one and also that I have more free time on my hands.

I must say that I am loving GT7 and racing via the PSVR2 headset. It......is.......awesome! Never thought that I'd ever get to experience what it is like to really drive as I have never passed my test and the closest thing I ever got to racing was driving an old beat up Sunbeam Talbot round an old dirt Derby track wen I was around 17. Hopefully I get to know a few of you and share some experiences.

  • I found GT Planet while looking for online racing leagues on Reddit. Somebody suggested registering here.
  • I'm from Canada, but I currently live in France.
  • I started playing racing games about 30 years ago, mostly Gran Turismo and Wipeout Anti-gravity racing.
  • I currently play with a Fanatec DDpro wheel and load cell brake on PS5 with PSVR2.
  • The list of other games I play and have played is pretty long, but some current top games for me are Wipeout, Sifu, Armored Core, Death Stranding and Lumines. I spent some time playing Rims (motorcycle racing) and I wish Polyphony Digital would release a new Tourist Trophy, I loved that back on PS2. I also play a lot of engineering puzzle games on PC, most of them by Zachtronics (ex. Exapunks, Last Call BBS, Shenzen I/O)
  • my goal here would be to find lobbies where people prioritize the fun and thrill of clean racing vs. winning at any cost. I have been playing "sport mode" quite a bit but the amount of mean dirty driving is very frustrating. Even when having a good race there is no way to quickly connect with those people to hopefully race with them again.

Hey all! Looking forward to racing with you all. Found out about GTPlanet via recommendations on r/Grandturismo.

I’m from Los Angeles and got hooked on racing games after my dad bought me Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed (released in 2000) and a clunky old racing wheel with ffb that felt like shaking rocks in a tin can lol. Things have progressed a bit since then with my Logitech pro g wheel and pedals.

Other games I enjoy include the GTA franchise, Red Dead Redemption, and Last of Us.

Looking forward to getting out of the cesspool that is lobby racing and into some good clean, competitive fun!

Just to make it clear ahead of time, this post will be quite long. I have a compulsive need to be thorough, it’s just how I am.

I found the site through Google searching “Gran Turismo forum”, knowing that one surely had to exist.

I was born and raised outside of Seattle, I’m still here.

My background with racing is abnormal to say the least. Mario Kart Double Dash was the first game I played in my life, but I just played it because it was the game that my best friend played, but we didn’t play video games all that much. Most of my life until middle school was spent bombing hills on BMX bikes with that same friend, I loved to go fast more than anything. Truth is, I was never into racing or cars at all though, I don’t even have a license and still have never officially learned to drive in my 28 years.

It wasn’t until at least a year after Gran Turismo 7 released that I started playing, and soon after, I realized how much I love cars and racing. Both of my older brothers focused their lives to cars/racing in one way or another, but it wasn’t until I was 26 with GT7 that I learned even the first thing about cars.

I still feel like there’s a world of improvements I need to make, but as of right now, I’ve made a lot of progress coming from absolute rock bottom. I have all trophies except for “finish 50 sport mode races”, I have all gold on the Nurburgring circuit experiences and most of the others in the game, plus gold on all license tests except for Master Super which I’m currently working on. I’ve registered seven top-3% gold time-trial finishes and lots more silver finishes. I have just over a thousand hours on the game.

This will change soon, but so far I’ve raced with a controller, specifically a Dualsense Edge with upshift on the right back-button and downshift on the left back-button, basically the same layout as paddle shifters in a car. I use no assists besides ABS, I don’t use traction control.

I’m looking to get a sim setup in the near future, no motion or anything. I need a sim setup because I’m definitely at the point now where the lack of precise throttle, brake, and steering control on a Dualsense is bottlenecking my performance. The difference between 95% throttle and full throttle is a world of difference on lots of cars, and that difference is fractions of a millimeter on a controller trigger, it’s too precise. The same issue applies to the analog stick versus an actual wheel. I feel I’ve taken the controller as far as it should reasonably go.

Other games I enjoy now? I haven’t played a game besides Gran Turismo 7 in months, but before that I loved Elden Ring, all the Fromsoft games, pretty much any challenging game. Learning how to be fine with losing over and over on those games was an experience that directly translated to Gran Turismo for me.

What I’m looking forward to most here is learning whatever I can, sharing my understanding, and generally just discussing this thing that I love.

Hi all,

I've been in love with driving anything with an engine and wheels since learning how 56 years ago.

I found GT Planet ages ago, but I'm not a big social user.

I finally have a question that Dr Google can't answer satisfactorily, so here I am.

Having had my fill of everyday cars decades ago, Gt7's line-up of exotics and futuristic prototypes had me hooked from my discovery of GT5.

Now with the PS5 and PSVR2, I'm obsessed.
