This is a weird one so bear with me.

Has anyone here ever invented anything or submitted a patent or anything like that?

I see this thread dying already but I figured it'd be worth a try.

Nope. But having a baby has given me a simple idea for making life easier for a parent but I don't know what to do with it.

I've looked around on the web and it looks like some people get a patent and then make a website for their idea hoping to hook someone into buying it. That doesn't seem very productive, though.

I had thought of something, which was actually very clever, IMO.

A long piece of wood or plastic, with a small cutout in the middle towards the top end for a light switch, with a handle on the bottom, so that young kids, or people in wheelchairs, for that matter, could turn the light on or off by themselves in a room, without needing a specially placed light switch.

Except i opened up my Canadian Tire catalog (CT is like a big Pep Boys/Home depot) only to see it already exists. Bummer!

I've had more than my fair share of great ideas, but I haven't the initiative to submit a patent or do anything like that. Too bad too, since so far, none of my ideas have been "taken" yet...

I did just recently. I told my boss about it and he acted like it wasn't a big deal. That's the last time I will ever go through all that paperwork and time for them.

i invented an electronic lock...(actually not really invented because there are already a whole bunch of them which you can buy and which are a lot better than mine!) for my design technology electronics project.

milefile - PM me when you get a chance. I have an old friend who works in the patent office. I can give you his email address, and you can ask him for the short talk on the process.

I actually have an idea right now that would change racing for the F1s indy, and Lemans, I am currently working on getting a patent on it and getting a working version of it. I'll tell you this, it should take lap times down anywhere from .5 secs to 1 full second.

No inventions yet. My dad invented a business platform of some sort for medium to large trucking companies, which a lot of businesses are using at the moment.

I also know the guy who invented music playing greeting cards.

I haven't invented anything yet...I've had several ideas for features on Mazdas, but they are only ideas.

I have alot of good ideas, but lack the time to make them into something. My best idea is a watercar (could revolutionize the automobile industry...)

...not to mention the laws of physical chemistry!

Heated wipers. I was pissed off in the Stang cause the ice made it so I couldn't window wipe my window. So I took a coil of copper wire hooked it to two 9V Batterys and there I had it. But if you left it on to long it either caught fire or melted the wipers. It need refinements, then the Hot Shots came out so I said screw it.

What if there were a heating coil around the front windshield, powered by either the battery or cig lighter. Then it would take a fraction of the time to defrost the front windshield. It would kinda be like the heated stripes in the back of many rear-windows, but it would be for the front, and it would go around the sides so it wouldn't impare vision....:odd:

Um, our Subaru Outback has those wiper heating things for the front wipers already, so cross that out of your ideas list. ;)

Think of it as a priviledge to be in someone's sig.
