Is it even worth updating an iPod touch? I'm running 4.2.3, yes far behind, but my iPod is jailbroken. It's a pain to do everything again, the computer I use is very slow. I just want to know people's opinions on it, pros and cons.

Yeah, it took me several attempts to get through to Apple's update server to begin the installation process and once iTunes got through it then encountered an unknown error near the end of the upgrade, requiring me to restore my iPt from a backup. After the restore everything was a-ok though.

Being able to use your device while syncing and wifi sync = 👍👍

Just upgraded my iP4 to it, I'm liking the notification center and iCloud, plus the way they've changed the camera app. I can see the new reminder app being useful too, you can set it to remind you when you reach a specified place.

Well, with the exception of certain illegal activities, there's really no reason why you'd need your device jailbroken.

I can understand people not wanting to upgrade if they've got a jailbroken phone and would still like to tether it, but there's really no reason not to update an iPod Touch to iOS 5.

I personally can't wait to try out iOS 5 on my iPod Touch. Sadly I can't find my cable for it anywhere, so I ordered one online for a couple bucks and it's on its way. :)

I beg to differ. Jailbreaking your phone opens up functionality that isn't there at present. Simple things like file management. Prior to IOS4 the only way to have your icons in folders was to have your phone jailbroken as well. That being said, my iphone is not jailbroken, however I do see plenty of legitimate reasons for doing it.

I managed to update my 4 last night although it did take about 3 hours in total, happy with the new stuff so far but need to have more of a play with it to work it all out.

Also have a look at Stuff that Siri says (language warning for website name) for some funny, turns out that Apple isn't such a prude after all.

Updated mine this morning when America was asleep. Took about 30 minutes and that included updating my iTunes so it was compatible :D

Not really explored many of the features so far but I appreciate being able to now use the +volume button to take photos as in some situations having to gently tap the screen can be a pain in the backside.

Updated my iPad just after it went live at 6 o'clock GMT, and I like iOS 5. Familiar, yet different. The new browser is good, and I like the 4 fingered swipe for multi-tasking. I'm wondering how exactly the wireless syncing and updates will work though.

I'm not going to bother. for me to upgrade means taking it to the shop, them doing a load of work to update and then re-jailbreak and there's no chance for sure that my illegal down loader would work which means I'd have to start paying for stuff.

You illegally download paid apps? 👎

I'm waiting for the untethered jailbreak to be released before I upgrade, I really like the look of all the new features so I hope they hurry up!

It's not illegal here. Have you seen where I reside? If I went back to the west then using it would be out of the question but, when in Rome......

Did mine last night at about half 2, took an hour or so (though most of that was copying my music back over).

Weirdly the thing I like most is the different vibration patterns you can set up in accessibility - I have mine on the Beethoven's 5th one at the minute, though I can see myself getting bored and making up my own soon enough.

And I like that I can make emails actually appear as alerts on the homescreen these days - that used to really irritate me.

Ahhh. I wasn't familiar with Chinese laws. :ouch:

You must have seen a 'lookie lookie' man in your local boozer, right? Where do you think he escaped from with his moody DVDs?

No, I haven't actually. I live in the country though, so it's not uncommon to see people walking around with rifles.

Syntax error

Yep this. I have an Android phone but an ipod touch too and it's jailbroken. I don't use it for illegal things unless an app to download youtube videos is really considered illegal. I love my jailbroken ipod and no not for free apps.

Well I have SBSettings, so I have other buttons assigned to whatever function I need, and the muktitasking isn't a big deal for me. The only thing that really stands out is the wireless syncing and such, I just want to read up on it to see if it works with my dad's laptop, as the hardrive on mine is screwed.

Ahh that lovely feeling bloody boiling in my veins when a syn to itunes. It's been so long I almost forgot what it feels like when that red haze of hatred descends.

As usual when I syn once in a blue moon, I'm reminded that I can't copy pretty much anything off my iphone back to the computer (apart from podcasts but who really cares about those) so I will have to trawl through all my music on my external storage to put back onto my iphone now that I have finished updating to IOS 5.

Also what's with not being able to put newstand into a folder. I don't want it on my home screen.

Just installed iOS 5 yesterday on my iPod. I didn't hack it and I backed it up, so it's all good. Love the familiar yet different interface.

Well I have just updated two iPhone 4's and an iPad. So r things work nice, like notifications and split keyboard, but others like iMessage don't seem to work yet, I'm sure the latter is just a server issue. I'm a little gutted about multi touch but I guess I can live without it, also reader in safari is a nice touch too.

 I feel ya. My computer almost became a casualty.

Thanks for the link, took me a few attempts to drag Newsstand fast enough but once I got it it worked perfectly. Not sure what Apple was thinking when they made Newsstand the only app that can't be put in a folder :odd:

Took me a few times to get it to time it right as well. I don't know what Apple was thinking not letting us put Newsstand in a folder by default.

It's because Newsstand is essentially just a folder with a special skin. :P

Makes me wonder if putting folders within folders would work using the same method to put Newsstand in one...
