iPod NANO!

If over 99% of nanos don't suffer the screen defect, and the affected ones are being recalled, why the over-blown hoo-haa? Many many consumer electronic items launch with niggling problems that need to be ironed out. Game consoles are a great example. My Xbox was bought in a state where the DVD drive didn't even play certain games and the machine locked up after 15 mins of play. Microsoft didn't even admit there was a problem with it! Apple is doing the right thing. There are a hundred other companies more worthy of directing crap at.

Those are apple figures and theyre not exactly going to say it is say 40% of all nanos if it even was. 99% is obviously a figure they are using to try and limit damage to their reputation.

My friend has an ipod 20gb. His step dad wanted an ipod, so his parents bought my friend the nano, and he was going to give the 20gb to his stepdad. But, when he got the nano, he didn't like it, so he gave that to his stepdad instead. He reconed it was too small in dimentions, and that he'd probably loose it.

You know wha tthe UK iPod Nano advert says to me?:

After owning one for 15 seconds, people will try and take it off you. Watch the advert and see.

Not surprised really though, they are pretty sweet little devices.

Because you only hear complaining customers who have the actual problems. People who are satisfied listen to music, they don't go around saying how much their screens are NOT scratched.

And would you even know if it had disappeared? I'd know if my mini suddenly wasn't in my pocket, but that, you wouldn't have a clue.

Jon.

That's why Apple made a lanyard for it. So you'll decapitate yourself when a mugger grabs it. You'll notice then!

MMM I wouldnt mind one of them nanos. Maybe I should rob some stup uni kid that has moved to london from out the bush somewhere.

I dont bother with Ipods cause I hate the software that your forced to use instead of drag or copy and paste and my fone can hold a 150 songs so when im bored of them I just slap on frresh songs off my pc.

I thought that when I saw the badvert, I know a friend who got a nano in the States and it was stolen on the plane home, very desirable and muggable (is that a word) items.

Omnis
"1) Based on 4 minutes per song at 64kbps WMA. "

HAHAHA!

That Zen thing sucks even worse. The iPods own it.

Like I said, my only gripe as far as iPods are concerned is the pricetag, and the relative pricetag for the nano.
Because they rated the max song count (notice the UP TO) with a rather unrealistic bitrate setting, it sucks ? Every company does it; even Apple ...

A 512 MB MP3 player can handle ...

Code:
[size=2]Bitrate Seconds Minutes Hours Songs (~4 mins)
32 131,072 2,184.5 36.409 546
64 65,536 1,092.3 18.204 273
96 43,691 728.2 12.136 182
128 32,768 546.1 9.102 137
160 26,214 436.9 7.282 109
192 21,845 364.1 6.068 91
224 18,725 312.1 5.201 78
256 16,384 273.1 4.551 68
320 13,107 218.5 3.641 55
705 5,949 99.2 1.653 25
1411 2,973 49.5 0.826 12

Did you know they stress tested the nano by letting a car run over it. But the car was too much lol.

Wow I believe I said these things would break easy. Nothing that thin and meant for kids is going to stay together, some f'ed up on the testing stage I believe.

Seriously, I hate to sound like someone who gave into the anti hype(Like someone said on a prior post)....But...These things really are just there to get the trendy people to spend money..

There is no prominent benefit...

That's like the Ipod shuffle..and Ipod fanatics saying "The Lack of a LCD was a feature"....

This is just a unnecessary change designed to make more money..

It is small..and as this crazy thing called physics would have it.

Smaller = more fragile...

The Ipod is a great product..
The Ipod mini is a great product aswell..
This Ipod nano is a 100% gimick..
If you REALLY need something that small to play Mp3's..why not get the smallest Mp3 player on the market..That STILL has a LCD....and is about the size of a quarter.....

But oh well...This is just like convincing Apple users PC's are better for everyday tasks..

Actually I've had personal experience with the original Ipod....And I HAD 3 ipod mini's...1 was stolen...1 was dropped into a pool (entirely my fault)

and the other I gave to my younger cousin as a gift because he wanted it..

The Ipod is a great product..There's no denying the need for music..

Music is what keeps people going, believe it or not..

but this is just getting stupid..

A mirror finish on the back?

So small it just slides into the pocket?

I don't know about you all..But I've owned ALOT of cellular phones..

And those descriptions scream out "I'M GOING TO GET SCRATCHED TO SCHIET"

and the marketing with these things is appauling..

500+ dollar little docking stations to play music on somewhat normal speakers...even if the speakers arn't that high quality...

but that's alright..
Accesories is what they WANT to make their $ on..

but seriously..if you think about this product from the eyes of someone who LOVES the product, and loves the product idea....But isn't, for lack of a better phrase, On Apples bal*s@ck....You'll see that this product is kind of just.....Lame...

If any of you spent the money on it..
More power to you...You're obviously more financially secure than I am..

but I'm not going to spend that kind of money on a pretty pointless luxury..like "size"...

really!!! ANY ipod will fit in your pocket, aslong as you don't wear wrangler jeans or something.....and if you want to "wear" your ipod..get the stupid Ipod shuffle (i still don't understand who would buy that joke of a Mp3 player)

But..That's my 2 cents..plus a few pennies

How do you know we don't have experience? I looked at a ton of different players before I bought my SanDisk one, and I must say the iPod is not all that great. The only thing it does better is hold more songs, I could care less if the thing holds more music then is on my computer to begin with.

At the end of the day...I'm not going to be showing it off..

So I don't care if it can play reruns of that 70's show...

I'm going to use it for playing music..

That's why i buy a MP3 Player..
is to play Mp3's..

Not to top off my new outfit to go out this saturday night...

If the Mp3 player holds 409821903812908 songs..
and looks like a portable Yugo...

I'd buy it....ESPECIALLY if it's cheaper than a 600 dollar ipod/PSP that has a built in mouse..and made out of platinum or something stupid I don't care about....

Sorry for the assumption, but I know many, many people who hate on the iPod (as well as other products) with absolutely no experience. Basically, just hopping on the "I hate ______" bandwagon.

I personally wouldn't buy an iPod, either ...

The only reason why things like the nano break or scratch is because people dont take care of them......mine ipod 20gb in a felt pouch all the time and i dont try and stuff it into small pockets or strain it in anyway.....

Ok maybe there can be some blame put on apple......plastic can only become so thin before it is useless at resisting any strain but if taken care of properly i dont see how it can break....

As for moaning thumprints.....thats a joke.....make some effort and clean the damn thing!

You have yours in a felt pouch..

which means you bought something..to make it practical...
Now..why wouldn't they give you the pouch?

If taken care of properly?

Do you realize how much abuse things take in your "pocket"..
just from walking and sitting down....

as for thumbprings..

WHY WOULD THEY MAKE IT SO SUSEPTiBLE TO THuMB PRInTS>.

that's like making a pair of perscription glasses with a layer of grease on them.....

yeah it looks "pretty"...but it's jsut going to make it dirty as schiet..

About as pointless as a chrome car imo..

IF THEY GAVE YOU THE DAMN POUCH IT WOULD COST MORE MONEY TO BEGIN WITH, wich would make you complain even MORE.

Now the solution to that? MAKE THE POUCH AN ACCESORY. Which is, omg, WHAT THEY DID!! wow can you actually believe that!?

OMG WHY CANT THEY GIVE YOU FREE CAR WASHES WHEN YOU BUY YOUR CAR ITS JUST GOING TO GET DIRRTY AND BREAK IN A FEW YEARS OMGZZZ
