No plans to race the Lotus in an official race. It's just something I like to cruise around in for a little fun.

Yeah the lotus is fun to drive, but I' doubt I'll ever do an official race with it either. Just seems nobody is ever racing it. A buddy of mine from a prior league just started up a league for the lotus that runs on thurdays nights eastern time. I thought about trying it for a race or two cause most all the guys are people I know and they are all oval racers just getting into road stuff. I'm ready to get the lotus 49 and give that a try.

I cant believe what Im reading $100 you would pay. For one track, come on thats the price of two complete games. I know you all want the ring, but lets be realistic about it. Even $50 is to much for 1 track. I think most iracers would agree. If they did release it at that price it will sell very small numbers. Now if we could talk realistic numbers it would sell great at $25 or $30.

People will spend their money however they want. You can say the same thing about many things. Why by a Ferrari for $250k when you could buy several cars instead? Why buy an Armani suit when you could buy 10 no-name suits?

I think there is enough demand for the track to where enough people would pay $50 for the track. Probably even enough demand for $100.

I totally agree, there probably is a good amount of European's that would like to see it in the game but I seriously doubt it would be at $100. Many people sitting on the fence trying to decide if they should purchase iRacing, complain about how expensive it is, now someone is going to tell them it's $100 for that track (lol) good luck with that.

Haha I agree with that reasoning Darren

Just dropped an entire second from my qualifying lap time for Indy Oval. Just need to shave off one more second and I will be the business 👍 well it is 25.8 -> 25.7

An entire year of iRacing, maybe 2 on black friday, or all the tracks in a series (assuming 4 are already bought or part of rookie package) or Nürburgring....... I just don't see the comparison for $100, $30 yes, $40 maybe

I know there are people who would be VERY willing to pay $100 for the track. I'm not one of them, but I think I would be willing to pay $50 for it.

The iRacing staff wants it, they've said it multiple times before, but the logistics behind scanning that track is ridiculous.

I've fully accepted that we are probably never going to get it, so I play it on other sims and it's outstanding.

Actually iRacing does not need to be profitable although they do practice good business practices. I think iRacing cares more about their principals then anything. With John Henry's financial backing and his love of motorsport iRacing will never run into money troubles.

That would explain why Liverpool's club crest is available as a sponsor. That has always puzzled me to why it was there.

I was hoping to do a race with the IndyCar at Brands Hatch last night but only four people registered. :(

Guess they're a bit intimidated by this track as last week there were a bunch of people racing at Watkins on Wednesday night. I'll try again on Friday.

That sucks live. Funny thing is I have that track too but never raced on it. Beautiful track. But its just not popular at all.

Did another Indy Oval race last night btw. Such great fun. Not seeing you other GTP guys online when I race though. Was able to keep up with the pack and had quite a bit more fun. Too many cautions flying up all over the place but I love how popular this series is this week. At anytime of the day or night I can pop into a race.

I wanted to try the Indy Oval as well but I need a C license, and to get that I need an oval car. And tracks too.

The only oval tracks I have beside the basic ones are Motegi and New Hampshire. But I don't plan on buying any oval stuff right now as I still lack a lot of road content.

Hopefully I'll get another couple of races in this weekend. Busy last night and tonight, probably Sunday will be the next real chance I get.

Really want to work on my iRating now though as I feel confident in running in a large pack in the bottom splits. Yet the points you get for completion are no where near good enough to challenge in my division.

Yeah its kind of hard to get motivated to get through Oval Class D for some reason if you primarily run Road. My original plan was to buy the Late model and just run Iowa & free tracks til I hit Class C. But the plan changed when I couldn't get a grasp on that car at the time. So many weeks later I switched to running the SK Mods to get to Class C. Now I have more short Ovals than I originally planned but they can be fun too so its all good

When I hit class D oval, I bought the Late Model when the series was at Lanier speedway. I quickly did my four races to get to the trucks. My SR was pretty high and didn't have to spend alot of time in class D. Was mainly interested in the trucks and class A Impala from the beginning. There is a decent following in the Late Model though.

What someone could do and I should have, is try to get the SR rating above 4.0. Then buy the Silverado and run either TT's or some races. If SR is still above 4.0, then you go to a class C license without having to buy or run any D class stuff. This is what I'm doing to get to class A license on oval. Not interested in class B oval and have a SR currently at 4.99 B license. Just need to run some races or TT's in class A to get my A license. Won't even bother buying the the class B car.

Nice to see another Japanese track also.

It has probably already been announced but I was unaware that Tskuba was joining iRacing. I love this track in GT5, although it is abit over-used.

The only problem with bypassing a Class is you might miss out on some important lessons that might help to prepare you for the next level. That is why I purchased short ovals so I could take my time and master them first

This license system is so easy due to fast tracking. I might be class B oval in another race or so if i can keep dodging wrecks. I'm not even trying to fast track on purpose or anything. Oh well...

Then again I lie I wouldn't mind being able to run Motegi in the real Indy Oval series next week.... That would require a Class B license

Worth paying $14 to take it for a spin?

Or should I wait for the '49?

The Lotus 79 is totally worth it. Think of it as the Skippy on Superman steroids.

During Week 13 I did a few IndyCar races in the Motegi Oval and it caught my attention how low the iRating of some of the Oval drivers are.

I saw a lot of Class A drivers with iRatings between 1000 and 1500. This is very rare on the Road side.

Nah I see a lot of people with <1000 iRating on Road side. Star Mazda is less popular this season so sometimes there is only 1 split. But i've been seeing lots of bad moves on Laguna Seca this week by people of any iRating. This track is just too much for these guys for some reason. All I did last night was dodge wrecks and finished 3rd with ease. I lapped the entire field

The other race where I finished 2nd at LAguna Seca I was lucky enough to start at 3rd position. So I slammed on my gas and hurried up and took 2nd cause I knew HELL was behind me. sure enough all I could hear was screams on my headset by grown mens that cant get their little Star Mazdas around Turn 1 w/o crashing each other.

All you can do is either Qualify to get on Pole (or close to it) or start from the Pits. It's crazy out there.

At least I can understand why people wreck all the time at Indy Ovals but I'm seeing lots of stupid wrecks at Laguna Seca. almost as bad as Watkins Glen. Can't wait for Road America next week.

+1

Oh wait a second, I know what you mean now live. Haven't paid attention to that.

Not as rare as you think. Being someone with an iRating that fluctuates between about 1400 and 1600, I see plenty of A class licenses in my splits. Possibly it depends on the series you're taking part in I suppose.

Just bought iRacing and can’t wait to get on the track. It’s halfway done downloading in under a couple of minutes.

I will be officially joining either tonight or tomorrow! Can't wait to see you guys out there.

iRacing is a blast but requires dedication, don't get soured at first, it can be difficult until you figure out which way you need to go. Also sign up over Here If you need help there are a lot of people here willing to lend a hand.

I joined a cts race, and I accidentally left at warmup, and I rejoined and they were on the grid and it wouldn't let me enter. then my internet stopped and I lost it all:grumpy:

That's odd. I signed up to a race last week, and then proceeded to forget all about it until about 5 minutes after the start. Jumped in, started from the pits, and just drove around sedately. I figured if I was going to lose iRating anyway at least I could get some SR. Once you've missed the grid you should always be able to at least start from the pits unless the program cocks up massively.

Happy ending, I finished mid-pack because of all the rage-quitters and wannabe lawnmowers. :P

I think it was my internet connection, I joined the next race and only the first 2 guys had qualified, I started 10th and finished 4th as the 2nd car 1 lap down and gained 48 irating and .02 SR.

right now, I'm class C 2.14, If I drop below 2.0 what happens? am I then class d or class c 1.xx?
