Yup, your protest will be ignored, they'll just call it a racing incident.

But in real life, that first move probably would get him a penalty, the second one might too.

Hopefully they'll look into it. At the end of last season Nim and Tony himself confirmed on the Vette forum that they where getting together to discuss new ways for evaluating protests in this particular class...

what I don't get is that I don't see much of this stuff in the Grand am series, it happens but not as often as I hear about "those HPD drivers"

It's just the way the cars perform against how they perform when sharing the track. In the Grand Am series you have the DP sharing the track with the Mustang, the DP simply outclasses the Mustang in everything, passing a Mustang is not a big deal on the DP. Now with the HPD you need to time your attempts in order to make them work, cornering speed in this car is just insanely fast and that's where all its speed comes from, starightline speed for this car is just slow wich makes passing even more critical!
Like I've said many times, the HPD is such an easy car to drive and that in itself can be deceiving. You can run 10 practice laps and be on pace and thinking you're ready to race, when in reality you're far from it, way too far from it. By the way the driver reacted on the first incident telling me I need to practice because I braked for T1 says a lot of how far from ready that guy is for that car!
In order to properly drive that car you need a very high sense of situational awareness wich only comes with knowing the other cars, something this guy clearly has no idea about! The second incident is only proves the point further, this guy get's into trouble in practice for the same thing with the same driver and is still clueless about the fact that GT cars need the whole track when cornering and their capabilities at such are way lower than an LMP car.
In my opinion everything needs to be revised and changed in order for this particular series to work.

-LMP drivers need a higher standard to drive the car, for example a full season of GT racing under their belt before beign elegible to race the car.

-LMP drivers need a higher penalty for their actions, twice the current ammount and no 0x for them.

-Protests need to be handled differently for this series.

Basically it all comes down to making people think twice before racing this car instead of just jumping in it because it is so easy to drive and you can get away with almost anything in it.

I don't care what anyone says, superspeedway races (Daytona, Talladega, etc) are FUN. Just did an A-class race at Daytona, had a few cautions, got caught up in them a couple times, but finished 6th out of fuel coasting for the last 1/3rd of a lap or so. Pack racing is fun IMO.

that guy is a bonehead

I think the only real way to solve this HPD problem is to make completing 5-10 races as a GT a requirement before you can even unlock an HPD for buying

the reason i love the hpd so much is the fact that its not an easy pass by any means, its a calculated one. its a shame its not policed more they give people like me a bad rep i love the HPD, but honestly its getting more and more pointless to race 17 hpds. 2 corvettes and 1 ford.

Definitely agreed! Haven't seen you in the fixed series lately, probably for this very reason and I don't blame you.

Oh man it really sucks because it can be such a great series, but people like that are driving every GT driver away! So far i've had incidents with HPDs in every race this season!

It tends to be easier for the HPDs to get past the Fords, but like Kamuyfanboy said the other day, some knucleheads out there still find a way to crash into the Fords!

I don't think you could have slide much more after he hit you! It looked like you were shot out of a cannon after he did, and the 2nd video was crappy move on his part period.

Lol! Yeah, at that point the Vette is going pretty damn fast and with the right push it'll just take off! The slippery grass only makes it worst!
that guy honestly have no place driving that car and iRacing needs to stop thinking of the impact on sales of the car and set a higher standard and penalty system to be elegible to drive the car. And no, SR doesn't really work in this case.
Edit: Just got the response e-mail for the protest and it was different from the usual racing incident BS, it says the other part involved will be notified about the outcome so I guess they'll be doing something about it.

@Jav I hope he gets protested that was a dumb move. That's probably the only thing I don't miss about iRacing. I never drove the HPD but from the videos i have watched it seems the HPD has a high learning curve. It's like the one time I raced in the Grand-Am series and saw a DP absolutely dive bomb a Mustang. That move by that driver taught to be patient when passing a slower car (I have done some pretty passing moves in my time at iRacing).

Personally I wished iRacing had training for each time you tried a car that would teach passing and other things. If it was a Multi-class series then it has to be Mandatory to drive the slower cars for at least 5 races.

It's just a learning curve and the most important curve is common sense, something that guy had none of. I honestly believe that person is using a shared account, still can't believe an A 4.45 licenced driver can get there driving like that!

Now that would make more sense, but still doesn't change the bonehead move.

I have only raced 3 road races, but I've had issues with slower cars. I will not force an issue but doesn't mean I won't be somewhat right behind ya waiting. I've had those guys move to where I was going to cause more issues, but every driver has different styles.

Hopefully they do find some way to say handicap the new drivers for official sessions. It would be nice to learn things even if it was say a YouTube class video you had to complete, and had so much clean laps in ghost style race.

Well, I registered for tonight's 00GMT race. Guess what! This same dude comes in last minute!
Well not a good session either... Got taken out early by a fellow Vette driver on lap 2 who just made a honest mistake locking them up going into T4. But as soon as I step into the server get immediately attacked by this guy! Calling me out and still bashing my name, I promptly tell him to be quiet and look at the forums!
So the race starts the Vette incident happens and 10 seconds later I see on the text chat a message by a well known and respected driver that reads "good driving Marcello" followed by his retirement from the race plus 2 additional HPDs and the Individual himself with no appology or a single word. Looks like we have a developing trend from this driver and no penalties assesed yet, video coming in a few minutes.

Well atleast you know your not the only one who has issues with him. It sucks when you can't always avoid those people either.

I only have had one guy I've had issues with and it started on another forum/game before I ever really had run in with him period. Patrick O'Toole is horrible driver, blames others and doesn't shut up during races.

Oh man, there's some colorfull characters out there! Just crazy!

Always! It's hard to find a good group of racers no matter what game it is. So far I've found a decent group of old farts who race trucks at night usually. I just down own enough content to race other stuff as much. I'm slowly trying to add what I like or will use.

wow....... that really sucks. I've had something similar happen IRL and my front axle was folded 90 degrees around the car and that was every bit just as bad (aside physical damage costs). I've seen people make text messages that were replies to arguments from incidents like that hoping to not start an online "brawl" but that looks like a different situation, that's absurd

Is there an HPD only series?

Nope, just like the Riley, they only exist in the series where they are problems...

Has there been any news about driver swaps lately?

Yes, they are still working on it. It was supposed to go online at the start of last season but they ensountered a bug wich took them back to the drawing table.

I'm assuming we are talking about endurance racing, but I missed exactly why they were planning.

Are there events like the 120 minutes of thunder coming up any time soon? I love me some endurance races, especially on this game where tires can out last a fuel tank.

I had a rookie moment the other day, i got my safety rating up to 3.55 and decided to jump into the rookie mulit-class race with the mazda, solstice and spec racer. Having only done 3 laps around a course i didnt know, i picked the spec racer and figured i would learn on the fly... oops. I dont know how many times i spun, thankfully i didnt hit anyone but my safety rating dropped to 2.71 after the race lol. Just gonna stick to the Mazda and Caddilac races for now, learned my lesson on that one.

:grumpy:
unbelievable! yes, protest the idiot!

fwiw...I put up a poll at iracing forum on if Nim should not only penalize "intent" in collisions but also penalize "stupid moves" that are under protest. This is from an article in the A.S.S. mag (link in the thread). IIUTAC, the author states that Nim using the sole criteria of "was the driver intending to cause a collision?" to is too restrictive and should also include "stupid moves" (definitions in the article by author) that cause a collision.

Just had my first run in with a true moron. Mike Schoon, this guy took me out in warm ups for no reason other than he said he was mad at someone else. Then he apologized and said he knew it wasnt right. So during the race, 21 laps in and ive got a 17 second lead. I tried passing him once a few turns earlier but he literally weaved in front of me so i couldnt. Then i got on my mic and told him "lets not do this man". He was already a lap down and about to go a 2nd one once i passed him. Just 4 laps away from a victory and this happens...

(im the orange/yellow mazda)

Yeah you're not seeing things, he hit me intentionally even after we wrecked. I watched the replay and he took out at least 4 other drivers as well, dude has no business racing on this game. He even insisted it was somehow my fault that i got wrecked? :dopey:

It doesnt look to me like the first hit was intentional just bad driving on his part, but the hit after was deliberate.
