On formation laps. Is it allowed to hang back a bit. I often let 2 cars space to prevent incidents, when there are suddenly car(s) who step on the brakes, or to step on the throttle when i am seeing a fast car in my rear mirror. also it usually gets me in a cleaner start. do you get penalised for dropping more or is it unfair towards the backmarkers?
 
Some would say your using that to have a jump start on the leading cars, but other wise I see no problem.

Also, most consistent I've ever been. Legends at Lime Rock. Seems everything no matter what it is runs the same time round here :lol:

I've just once again proved I can't drive the MX5, I'm slow and inconsistant with it, the Solstice I love, but there's something about the MX5 that doesn't fit with me. I hate the Star Mazda aswell I guess Mazdas just don't suit me.

The Okayama race I just did I was worse than I was in my first ever irace, I was a joke :(
 
Finally deciedeed I would do a race around Lime Rock in the Legends car, some guy divebombs me and another guy when we were two wide on lap 2... FFS...

Only series where I don't get wrecked are the very rookie series these days... StreetStock and MX-5..
 
Man thats pretty cool that real drivers have played iRacing. Whats really cool is i go to school (Nascar Tech Institute) in Mooresville, NC the same city where Dale Jr grew up. And his race shop, JR Motorsports, is a stones throw away from my campus. Im not a big Nascar fan, but i usually keep track with everything. Im going to school to be a mechanic by the way, the school says Nascar but its really UTI w/ a Nascar elective.
 
There's a lot of real life pros that use iRacing, last night I was on a session with Oriol Servia!

I was on TV once, for my own karting career; (was a huge argument, I accused the fastest kart racer in Canada of blocking me. He almost punched, but the cameras came running! :lol:)

If I've done that, but still respect you, yes you *are* a pro, in my books.

That's cool. I actually have a friend that's up there at UTI right now. He's not doing the nascar school though I believe he's doing the Ford school.
 
I was in a rookie SS race with Oriol a few weeks ago. He got bumped out on the second lap!

I didn't know he was a pro (still don't know anything about him), funny thing was I spent a while looking at the replay wondering whether to protest him!

It looked for all the world like he'd waited for the idiot to recover behind him and then ram him into the wall...

In the end I decided his steering looked knackered and it could just be loss of control as he accelerated.
 
I always race Matt Plumb a few times a week. He drives the Rum Bum Porsche in Grand Am's Continental Tire Challenge. Pretty cool if you ask me 👍

Actually it was the National car at New Hampshire out of all tracks and cars!

He's been an openwheel driver since the Zanardi days on CART and still runs Indy Cars to this day!

Matt is a pretty cool guy! I've raced him on the MX5 a few times, he once stepped in on a hosted session I had up with Blaze and Magz at Spa on the MX5!
Other guys I've run with are Thomas Scheckter and Fabian Coulthard.
 
I don't think I've ever raced these pro guys on iRacing, maybe I did but didn't know they are pros. Those are unfamiliar names for me.

Though I do remember fighting for position with Darin Gangi from InsideSimRacing in a IndyCar race last season. :lol:
 
My league is running again tonight at 6pm pacific (about 5 mins from now) for anyone who wishes to join.

Tonight is Okayama full with SRF and MX5/Roadster.

My league mates are courteous, clean racers and I would be very happy if you would join us to have some fun.

90 mins practice
15 mins qualifier
15 mins race

The cars may not be balanced but that doesn't matter for this fun run.

For some reason I can't hear my spotter, he's enabled and not muted and the text shows up during a race, but I get no speech.. Any help?

Check in the options menu, there should be 2 buttons on your keyboard assigned to the volume of the spotter

could be your audio device for the spotter is set to something else, should be a pull down menu on the screen in the sound section
 
Does anybody notice that iRacing seems to plan all the fun car and track combinations on the same week? Then all of the bad ones on other weeks? And how the series with only certain day and time races are all at bad times? Even for US time zones? I really don't understand their thought process with this seasons schedule.

Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice.


By that I actually mean to use private test sessions. Once you can keep the car on track multiple laps try moving up to the open practice sessions and keep at it some more. I gave it at least a week before trying a race. Get used to the car/track so that you could potentially drive 20+ laps without spinning, going off the course, or hitting anybody. Then you might try racing.

Have you used free 3-months Caddilac option ?

I did a lot of Time Trials, Quali at the begining and my first race was a disaster (28 inc)
But 2 days later i won my first race in Mazda :)
